The Two Societies (Part 3 of 8)
~two in a half weeks later~
It had been a long two weeks. Nothing horrible happened other than a near scare when Cray decided to come and visit. Goth didn't want to see him even after 2 years. He had cheated on her in high school and despite still being single she wanted Palette to help raise their child. So she ended up staying in Raven's room, ways away from Cray and he didn't even realize she was even home.
Goth also went to the doctors to see how her child was doing. The doctor was a very kind feline monster, with her assistant being a very rough looking wolf monster. The child was fine and all Goth needed to do was wait and not strain herself.
Reaper was very persistent in getting Goth to sit and rest for hours on end. Geno usually had to scold him. One time Reaper went as far as to try and carry Goth because he felt as though she needed more rest. Geno ended up hitting him in the head with a pan for the second time. And telling him, 'Goth is not a damsel in distress Reaper. Let our daughter do as she pleases! You tried this shit with me when I was pregnant and that ended real quick.'. Before Reaper could even protest, Geno's infamous death glare instantly shut him up.
Also within those two weeks, Goth had given Shino a plushie of a show character he's had a crush for a while now. Her name is Radier. Shino adores her and Shino's second present was tickets to a musical that included Radier as a special guest.
Xahji was a trickier one to get presents for since his crush resided in his school. Her name is Snazzy. But Snazzy hates Xahji for an incident that happened just last year when Xahji went a little overboard with his powers. So Goth got Xahji clothes. Xahji was happy and grateful. His second present was a stuffed unicorn named sir Fluffington.
Now, in current time, Goth was taking Raven to one of Blueprint's concerts for Raven's second present. Well, after Geno getting on Reapers case again, they were both aloud to go.
The concert was staged outside in what people say is the prettiest part of town. Beautiful pink leafed trees sway with the gentle breeze of the wind as the sun hits the stage just right, casting a soothing warmth across the large vicinity of people around.
Blueprint stands on stage seeming to be blushing a baby blue hue as his voice is carried on the wind. His eyes are shut, a microphone in hand as he twists and turns on stage in fluid movements. It seems to come naturally to him, as if he had been doing this for decades. The only time his eyes open being when he smirks or the song comes to an end.
Raven and Goth reside backstage waiting for Blueprint to end his final song of the day.
Raven is making lovey dovey eyes at nothing in particular while Goth is laughing at her sister expression, "Raven *giggle* he's just a normal guy. *pfft* He isn't some god. He's just a skeleton." Goth giggles out.
Raven's eyes snap to Goth, glaring playfully at her, "Gothy. He is my crush! Whenever I see him I stutter and I feel butterflies in my stomach. When I think about him I smile like an idiot. He just, he makes me feel complete!" She tries to explain while flailing her arms in weird directions to try and get her point across.
"It almost sounds like love.~" Goth smiles teasingly, a knowing look in her eyes.
Raven flinches at the word 'love', "It's not l-love! It's just... just.... Uh.." She trails off her eyes finding the ground more interesting at the moment as the color violet spreads across her cheek bones. She twitches on her heels, shifting from one leg to the other.
Goth smirks at her sister as both of them are unaware of a baby blue diamond light eyed skeleton approaching with a skip in his step. An easy toothy smile gracing his features as he eyes the two sisters with curiosity.
He stops about a foot away from them, his voice lighter then most males but has a soothing undertone, "Hi! My name is Blueprint!" He introduces himself happily, his eyes landing on Goth, "You must be Goth. Palette's told me a lot about you." Goth squeaks and hides half her face in her scarf. His eyes then travel to Raven who's looking at him with wide eyes, as her violet blush now consuming her skull. Blueprint acquires his own blush, "H-Hi.. I'm B-Blueprint." He stutters out resulting in Raven giggling.
Her blush reseeding to only her cheekbones, she holds out her hand, "I'm Raven. Goth's younger sister." She introduces herself surprisingly without stuttering.
Blueprint takes her in a gentle but firm grip, "A lovely name.~" He smirks at Raven, his dimond eye lights catching Raven's own red and blue mixed ones.
Raven nods seemingly dumbfounded by Blueprints flirtatious advance. Goth then flicks Blueprint on the side of his skull, "Ow!" He rubs the part of his skull that got flicked, releasing Raven's hand, "What was that for Goth?" Blueprint shoots Goth a glare to which Goth happily returns.
Goth sighs, "I hope your not trying to make a move on Raven." She eyes Blueprint with a playful glare.
Blueprint stares at Goth for a moment than he glances at Raven who's looking very uncomfortable, "I just want to be friends with her! Nothing romantic or relationship wise." He says defensively.
Goth smirks at him, "Then what did I just see from you? You, Palette, and Cray seem to have some sort of unique but then again the same advances towards girls." She states.
"I-I think s-she's cute okay!" He stutters out his baby blue blush returning with a vengeance. Raven's own blush consumes her face again as she hides in her scarf.
Goth giggles and points to the card that Raven decided to pullout not to long ago, "On another note. That card, it says if she would like to she could spend the rest of the day with you if you allow her too." She smiles and continues, "She would like for you to join her, maybe she could give you a tour of our home town if that's alright with you." Raven felt as though she was on fire.
"Really? I sorta wanted a tour of this place, it seems nice. Course she can give me a tour, and don't worry she'll be completely fine with me." Seeming excited, he gives Goth a comforting smile as Raven examines him trying to figure out his train of thought.
Goth crosses her arms, "If she comes home crying you will regret it Blueprint." She glares halfheartedly at him.
Blueprint salutes Goth, "I promise I won't do anything bad to her." He promises while Raven giggles.
"Alright." Goth turns to Raven and envelops her in a hug, "Be safe. And you have to tell me everything when you come home." She whispers to Raven who returns her hug.
Raven scoffs, "Don't be a worry bones, I'll be fine. I can take care of myself you know." Goth releases Raven to see a playful grin plastered on her face.
A very colorful monster comes running over, "Blueprint! The bus is waiting..." The monster trails off, seeing Raven and Goth.
Blueprint turns towards the monster with a bright tight lipped smile, "Rondel!" He gestures towards Raven, "This young lady would like me to spend the rest of my afternoon with her. She has one of those special backstage, all access passes so I sorta don't really have a choice." He laughs sheepishly as the monster named Rondel glares at him, "And I don't want to have a fan upset at me!" Blueprint adds quickly as beads of sweat collect on his skull. He crosses his arms and stands tall even though he's very intimidated by his sponsor at the moment.
Raven steps up next to Blueprint. "I-If it's alright w-with you sir. I w-would like Blueprint to s-spend the rest of the afternoon with me." She stutters out as she looks at Rondel with pleading eyes.
Rondel sighs, "Fine! I'll cancel everything for your afternoon!" He exclaims in irritation, turning on his heel he stalked away grumbling to himself angrily, "Rescheduling all those meetings will be a pain..." His voice trails off the further away he goes.
Blueprint just stares after Rondel in disbelief, "He normally says no to all my fans. Then again, none of my fans have ever asked him directly." He laughs and turns to Raven, "Guess you're a good luck charm." He grins at Raven who smiles up at him.
Raven grabs Blueprints wrist. "Come on! We have a lot explore. I'll even show you some of Goth's best haunts!" She takes off at a full sprint and Blueprint follows close behind, almost falling having not expected Ravens speed.
Goth just laughs, deciding not to follow them. She stares after them for a few moments then turns towards the now abandoned stage, "Guess I should go home." Mumbling to herself she starts heading home. Taking out her phone she starts texting Palette who is still concerned about Goth's health.
Messenger:
Pally: Goth? Are you okay?
Pally: Goooooooooooth answer meeeeee!
Pally: Does Geno have your phone again?
Pally: GOTH!
Goth: Pally, I'm fine. I am answering you. No, Geno does not have my phone. WHAT!?
Pally: Did Geno help you figure out what's wrong?
Goth: Yes she did. I'm fine now.
Pally: Great! So, when will you be back?
Goth: Four months from now.
Pally: THAT LONG?! Goth whyyyyyy?! I miss you!
Goth giggles continuing to stare at her phone as she walks along the sidewalk. But she accidently bumped into someone making her stumble, but she quickly finds her footing once again. She turns to the person she had bumped into going for an apology but the words get stuck in her throat.
The skeleton man had lost his footing and dropped the book he was reading, only to pick it up again and turn towards Goth with an angry expression. It quickly melts into one of shock and relief, "Goth? Your home! It's me Cray! You remember me right?" He reached towards her with his free hand only for her to back away from him, "Goth, what's wrong?" He asks, dropping his arm to his side. Quickly, he puts the book inside one his jacket pockets.
Goth examines the skeleton. A multi neon color cap rests on top of his head while a black scarf is wrapped around his neck, black sneakers, blue jeans, a white shirt with a blue opened jacket resting on his shoulders.
A shadow casts across Goth's eyes as she grips her phone, her arms at her sides, she takes a breath effectively calming herself down. Her sharp gaze pins Cray in his spot as beads of sweat decorate his skull, his multi neon colored hat shining bright from the lowering sun. "I wanted to apologize for bumping into you. So I'm sorry." She crosses her arms, her phone still gripped in one hand as vibrations from people messaging her go off. "Did you need something?" She bends one of her knees to get into a more comfortable standing position.
Cray goes to speak but nothing comes out, his eyes meet Goth's for a split second before meeting the ground. He never had the courage to apologize after hurting her. He originally thought nothing of it, thought of her as a fling. But the more he dated he felt like something was missing, like a spark had left him. Goth was the only one, to his knowledge, to have that spark with him. She was the only one to stand her ground and take anything thrown her way, the only one who understood him more then he knew himself.
She sighs. "I'll be going now if you have nothing to say." She states, a coldness laceing her tone. She turns on her heel and starts heading towards her home again.
"Wait! Please Goth!" Cray knew he would only have one chance to apologize. He hopes to the stars above he didn't just blow it.
Goth stops, her back facing Cray. "Yes?" She turns towards Cray, her gaze still sharp but softened the tiniest bit.
"I... Goth I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done what I did to you. Could we.. Could we possibly start over. No relationship. Just friends?" Now with that off his chest he waited for her reaction. He hoped Goth thought it was sincere because it was the most sincere he had ever been with someone.
A bitter smile graces Goth's features. "I accept your apology." She was happy, he had finally apologized and it sounded slightly sincere. She thought for a moment about he proposal for being just friends to which she replied with, "I would like to start over but you would have to gain my trust again. Thank you for apologizing." She walked back over to Cray and hugged him. Cray immediately returning the hug as if he would never see her again while he buries his face in Goth's shoulder.
They stayed like that for a few moments before they pulled away from each other. Cray looks into Goth's eyes, the sincerity in them leaves Goth at a loss for words as Cray speaks. "I won't hurt you again Goth. I will gain back your trust." He smiles gently at Goth who returns the smile.
"I look forward to seeing those statements hold true. But now I have to get home Cray. You can come visit when you feel up to it." She states as she back up from him.
"I will." A grin spreads across Cray's face as butterflies erupt in his none existent stomach. He had forgotten how beautiful Goth looked and right now she was glowing.
Goth turns on her heel with a skip in her step she starts heading home once again. All she wanted from Cray was an apology. Nothing more, nothing less. And she got it.
Goth looked at her phone, texting back Palette since he was being a worry bones again. Her eyes then caught a different conversation in her messenger. It was someone from their squad and they had sent a picture message. Goth became curious, normally her squad members don't send her pictures.
She clicked on the conversation and she stopped mid step. Her soul twisted painfully. The picture was of Palette kissing another female monster who seemed to be one rank lower or the same rank as himself. They had the same emblem on the sleeves of there uniforms, a Royal Guard emblem.
Her squad member sent a message after the picture.
Lily Lue: Goth don't they look cute!?
Goth's throat felt like it had a giant lump as tears pricked at her eye sockets. She shouldn't be feeling so hurt. They're not even in a relationship. But it hurts her so much to see Palette with another. She decided not to be rude and text Lily back.
Goth: Ya! When did you take this? And are you hiding behind a tree in a park?
Lily Lue: I took it a week ago! It was right outside headquarters actually. I'm a major shipper you know. Their ship is sailing! They're both in the Royal guard so I thought Palette and her would be a good fit. =)
Goth: cool! I have to go now. See ya!
Goth puts her phone away being to consumed by her own thoughts to even notice Cray standing behind her looking over her shoulder.
He had apparently followed her to make sure she made it home safe. But became concerned when she stopped so he approached as quick as he could without alerting her. He was in the Royal guard too. His training had evolved his habits into stealth habits for no particular reason.
When Cray saw the picture and the conversation he knew what Goth's reaction would be. He laid a bony hand on her shoulder having her instantly whip around and hug him. A little 'Oomph' escaped him at the forcefulness of the hug as he returned it. Cray knew she liked Palette and he thought Palette liked her to.
Palette had talked to Cray so he knows about Goth moving up in the ranks.
Cray also knows Palette took her in the forest months ago. While they talked he told Palette not to be stupid and go hurting her like he himself had. He guesses Palette is ether oblivious or just plain stupid.
"C-Cray, i-it hurts." Goth stutters, a soft sob escaping her. "Why *hic* does it hurt *sniff* so much?" Clinging to Cray, she buries her face in his chest.
His arms tighten around her and he sighs, "You love him, that's why Goth. I'm more curious about why your not smacking me for looking at you phone conversation." A muffled 'shut up' reaches his non existent ears and he laughs. "Never thought I'd hear you swear Gothy.~" He teases, resulting in a jab to the ribs making him wince. "Ow! Gothy your so rude! I'm trying to comfort you and it doesn't seem to be working." He pouts as he lightly pokes her side making her squeak. Goth pulls her face from his chest giving him the cutest, angry, tear stained face glare he has ever seen.
"Don't tickle me! Not when I'm upset!" Tears continue to fall as Goth feriously tries to wipe them away. "I'm going home now. *sniff*" She backs away and turns around only to be pulled back into Cray's chest. "Let me *hic* go." She struggles feebly in his grip only to give up. "I hate you.." She mumbles sniffling, wiping more tears away.
"Why are you so upset? You haven't been like this since, well, since our break up." Goth remained silent. "Goth answer me please. I never liked seeing you upset." Goth's lifts her boney hands seeming to contemplate something. The fact that Cray hadn't noticed in this position is astounding. The bump may be smaller compared to other monster species but it's still there. She takes one of Cray's wrists in her hand still seeming to contemplate something. Examining his hand Cray becomes curious. "What are you doing with my hand? Trying to hold it hostage?~" He tries teasing only to freeze when Goth places his hand on her ecto stomach.
She unwraps Cray's other arm from around her and turns around while keeping his hand on her ecto stomach. "This is why I'm so upset Cray." Cray looked at a loss for words as he looked from her to his hand.
"Your p-pregnant." He stuttered pulling his hand away abruptly. "Does he know?" He demanded accusingly, his anger getting the best of him. Goth was shocked he was able to connect the dots so quickly, she shook her head no. He gritted his teeth. "Why haven't you told him?" Cray thought she had kept this a secret from Palette, but than why would she tell him then? His anger deflated and was replaced with confusion.
"I'm afraid to tell him Cray." She says. "I-If He finds out then.. I wouldn't know what to do." She hugs her stomach.
At this new information he gave looked at her in confusion. "Uh... Who is He and are you going to tell Palette?" He asked.
Goth sighs, looking down at her stomach. Both of her arms resting on the small bump. "I don't know if I should tell him. He seemed content with that other monster female. But he should at least know he has a child." She was conflicted, Cray could see that. "And for who He is. It's none of your concern really. Although you do know him."
He crosses his arms letting out a long dragged out sigh, dropping the subject on who He is. "Goth, I need you to tell me. Would Palette really be alright letting you raise this kid alone, let alone his own kid? You can't tell me he wouldn't adore the shit out of that spawn of satan." Cray gave her a bitter sweet smile. "I'm sure your parents offered to help you with it." He stated.
Goth wiped the rest of her tears away and looked up at him. "But what if Palette doesn't want to raise it. What if he treats the child horribly?" A thousand scenarios running through Goth's head is not a good thing. She probably thought her child was going to be taken away from her.
Luckily Cray has some news that was bound to make Goth's day. "Goth you got promoted to Royal Guard yesterday. Palette was bouncing off the walls he was so happy. He was texting me constantly." Cray said with a smile.
Goth froze as she stared at Cray. "I-I did? I really hit Royal Guard rank?" She asks disbelievingly.
"Yes Goth, you did." He chuckles, loving her reaction.
"Oh my goodness! I have to go home!" The picture of Palette and that female monster vanished from her mind but it left her in slight confusion. "But if I got promoted yesterday then why didn't Palette tell me? Why am I hearing it from you?" She asked, eyeing him in suspicion.
Cray laughed sheepishly a frown present on his face. "His Dad got asked if a young female monster could court Palette and his Dad, well, agreed." He stated with a wince at Goth's lost expression.
"O-Oh.. That still doesn't tell me why he didn't tell me Cray.." With her arms still wrapped around her stomach, her eyes found the plants around them more interesting to look at.
"He, ah damn it to hell Goth, he didn't tell you because he didn't want to get your hopes up about him courting you. Grandfather refuses to let him court you. But now with that child in the picture, I don't think granddad has a choice. You need to tell Palette about the kid Goth, and it has to be soon." He dead panned.
She remained silent for a moment then spoke, "Did Ink give a reason why?" He hesitated, not missing the informal usage of his grandfather's name but let it slide as Goth cut him off, "Don't try and sugar coat it Cray. Please just tell me the truth." Her eye light meeting his as she practically pleaded.
Cray hesitated again but spoke anyways, "I really don't think you want to hear what he said. Much less from me of all the monsters you know. Your better off asking Palette." Cray knew Palette would set her mind at ease but didn't know how she would react to how blunt Cray's statements had gotten. Or how blunt he had gotten in general.
Both of Goth's hands gripped her arms as her eye light meet the ground in silent fury. She gritted her teeth as she tried to dig the tip of her shoe through the concrete below her. Sighing she meet his gaze which held worry, "Cray I want you to tell me. This can be a good way to gain my trust back because right now I just want to punch you in the jaw for telling me something and not explaining it in further detail." Goth could tell his reluctance was wavering. Wether it was because of her words or because he saw no logical sense in not telling her, she didn't know.
Ether way he did speak, "He spoke of your father. Calling him a disgrace to the Royal Guards for going after a poor and very sickly female monster with no future. Much less a life ahead of her. My grandfather deemed him a traitor to the crown even though he doesn't have the authorization to do such a thing. He.." Cray gulped after seeing Goth's murderous expression and continued as beads of sweat decorated his skull once again. "He, uh, referred to you as a lowly whore who is only after Palette for his status and wealth. And he referred to your siblings as deranged monkeys that go after everything they find pretty." Cray clamped his mouth shut as he stared wide eyed at a very angry Goth.
Goth's arms fell to her sides as she clenched her fists. Her scythe appeared and she took hold of it as she examined its long, sharp, recently polished, blade. Cray took a silent step backwards, or tried to. The instant he tried to move, Goth was on top of him her scythe blade wrapped around his form, just barely touching him. Goth was floating in mid air cross legged, just like Reaper would sometimes be like. She nudged Cray forward and he scuttled closer, his eyes wide with fear.
Cray knew Goth had gotten training but he never expected this, "G-Goth?" He stuttered. Having never felt this afraid of Goth before was new to him. Not having a chance to react Goth enveloped him in a hug her scythe disappearing in a puff of smoke.
"I'm sorry for scaring you." Goth mumbled and gently pushed away from him as she continued to float in the air cross legged.
Cray sighed in relief and regained a relaxed posture, "It's alright. I wasn't expecting that though." He paused and thought for a moment, "Where did you learn to attack like that?" Cray asked.
Goth gave Cray a toothy grin, "Wellll, when I was younger my Dad taught me a few tricks."
Cray blinked at her, "You can't be serious.."
"I can be as serious as Palette when he's around children." The amusement in Goth's voice didn't go unnoticed by Cray as he examined her in a new light.
"What else can you do?" Cray was curious and Goth seemed more then eager to please.
Goth blinked out of sight only for Cray to feel a tap on his left shoulder. Cray slowly turned to his left only to see Goth floating beside him with an easy smile on her face. "I can do a number of tricks but I'm no dog. I really need to head home now." She stated as she uncrossed her legs and landed gently on the ground.
"I will see you later then." Cray pulled her into another hug. Catching her by suprise.
"Alright too many hugs! Let go!" Goth giggled as she pushed on his chest making Cray reluctantly let go.
"Fine! I won't hug you anymore today." Cray chuckled. But became serious for a moment. "Thank you Goth, for giving me another chance." Goth nodded in acknowledgement a smile playing on her lips.
"Just don't mess up this friendship like our relationship." Goth gave him a light glare then it melted into a small smile.
"Want me to walk you home?" Cray asked.
"Now one would think you might just be my boyfriend again." Goth gave Cray a cheeky grin as he groaned in annoyance.
"I don't want Reaper to try and have my head again Goth. Are you trying to kill me?" Cray glared halfheartedly at Goth.
Goth grabbed Cray's wrist as she started walking at a nice pace while pulling Cray along gently. Cray started grumbling incoherent words to himself as she giggled at him. Goth's phone completely forgotten in her pocket as they both traveled back to her home.
