but, each time, we find each other,

The sound of the radio spills over from the kitchen as Jimin hums along, watering his plants. Ever since he's gotten his own house -- which was a dream of his since he was little, he's made a big garden in the back, loving everything about flowers.

Moving from his patch of roses to a patch of sunflowers and slowly over to his magnolias, he's having the time of his life -- mind free from work (as a maths teacher) and all the stress. Just looking at these flowers calm Jimin down, watering them makes him feel in heaven.

But, as he's mindfully watering the plants, a sudden voice interrupts his happy thoughts, "Hey! Watch where you're watering!"

Jimin is sure there's no one else that lives in the same house as him, so was it a neighbour?

"Over here!" the voice calls and Jimin is dumbfounded. There is a tiny little humanlike figure on the magnolias, looking pouty and all wet, hair bright blue with a flower crown, his whole clothes having a flower pattern. "I got earth water on me..." he says, sighing, leaning back on the anthers of the magnolia, looking up at the sky.

"Is that a fairy?" Jimin murmurs to himself, but the guy hears it, sitting upright again, a bright smile on his face as he nods.

"That's right! I'm a flower fairy! You have very beautiful flowers," The guy says, and suddenly Jimin already loves this little guy, smiling right back.

"Thank you so much!" Then, he notices the wet clothes, feeling worried. "Do you want to get dried?"

Within the next few minutes, the two are inside, in Jimin's bathroom, blow-drying the little fairy -- on low speed as they have a very enjoyable conversation about flowers.

"Yes, I love ambrosia! Those are all over near my gate," the fairy says, enjoying the warm air of the blow-dryer as he also enjoys the conversation.

"That's awesome! I've been meaning to grow some in my garden," Jimin says, finally stopping the blow-dryer. "I think you're done."

Flying around in front of Jimin, the fairy nods. "Yeah. Thank you!" His smile is bright and warm. Then, his face turns panicked, looking at his watch, "But, I think I have to go! See you some other day, flower prince~"

There's a slight blush that appears on Jimin's cheeks as the fairy waves goodbye with those words, slipping out and down the window.

And, it's only after a few minutes, Jimin realizes that he forgot to ask for the pretty fairy's name.

The sound of typing on a laptop is the only man-made sound in the middle of Jimin's garden -- filled with butterflies, bees, and dragonflies — and now, a fairy.

He is just admiring the flowers again, happy to be in a place where they're taken care of well and not sold either.

Jimin, just editing his next YouTube video — it's his day off from his day job — lets out a sigh, a small pout of concentration on his lips. As he's got one earphone in and the other ear empty, he actually hears a low hum nearby.

That can't be the neighbour, right?

Looking around for a few seconds, his eyes land on a small figure, fluttering in front of his lilacs. A small smile forms on Jimin's lips as he takes his earphones off, leaning back in his chair and looking towards the fairy.

"Hello!" Taehyung looks at Jimin, noticing him right away, radiating happiness. "How've you been?"

"I've been well. How about you?" Jimin asks, forgetting about his editing to talk to the fairy.

The fairy flies over next to Jimin, rest on the big petals of a tulip. His lips pout, "It was alright, it's quite boring in FairyLand." Then his eyes go to the computer, curiously asking, "What're you doing?"

Jimin remembers he has to edit and he leans forward again and starts his work as he talks to the fairy. "A hobby of sorts? I post videos of me dancing online."

Piquing his interest, the fairy flies over with thinking eyes to look at the screen, sitting down next to Jimin's hand. "That's really cool. Oh! I can't believe I forgot to ask—" he suddenly says, now facing Jimin. "What's your name?"

Jimin looks at him with a gleam, "Park Jimin. You?"

Taehyung nods, then answers, "Kim Taehyung. Nice to meet you, Jimin."

"Nice meeting you too~ But, please tell me more about FairyLand, it sounds interesting."

"It's not that interesting..." Taehyung trail off but then sees Jimin's pout as his eyes are on the screen while he edits. "But!" he suddenly blurts, feeling the urge to make Jimin happy. "Our history is quite interesting! I'll tell you everything I remember from school."

Taehyung's little heart thumps at the sight of Jimin's smile, "Okay! I'm listening. I'll work as I listen though, okay?"

"That's fine!" Taehyung assures, changing his position to a more comfortable one as he starts.

"I don't know where to start though... " he says, trying to remember the very beginning.

There's a soft and heart-warming giggle from Jimin, "Start anywhere you want. You can take your time~"

His chest filling with warmth at the lovely sound, Taehyung nods, "Okay, I'll start with the differences from here, then!"

And, he talks, explains the history of FairyLand -- even though he doesn't remember much from school. But, it doesn't end there, soon enough Jimin finishes up his work and just listens, and when the topic ends, another one opens, talking about flowers, to oceans, to beauty, to everything.

"Ah! The sun's set already! I have to go back, see you, Park Jiminie~" Taehyung bids as he flies off behind a flower's petals, disappearing.

Jimin wonders if he's dreaming, wonders if he hallucinated that. But, having creatures from another world roam earth isn't an unheard story. Their visits are sometimes on the news, he just hasn't actually come into terms with it because it's not that often that they come by.

Knowing he'll have to work on a syllabus plan for the next day, Jimin heads inside, but the smile doesn't leave his lips, having just befriended a fairy.

When Taehyung flies into the portal, it's the first time he arrives on Earth when the sky is crying. He looks up, eyes a little curious, but then he remembers -- Jimin!

Quickly fluttering his wings, he finds a little crack in the window to pass through, entering the warmth of inside. His nose twitches. He looks around, then spots the kitchen, and once again, flies over to see that there's food cooking. But, where's Jimin?

Flying around and out, he looks for the owner of the house, hoping he's actually there.

It doesn't take him long, arriving at the sight of Jimin soundly sleeping on the couch of the living room, curled up with a blanket. He smiles at the cute sight and would like to appreciate the beauty even more, but the food!

He swoops down to Jimin's face, puffing his cheeks in thought of how to wake the man up. Then, he grins, shrugging and just deciding to slap him -- it wouldn't hurt him much anyway.

"...Hm?" Jimin stirs, feeling small pokes on his cheek, eyes opening slightly to rub on the spot, but instead of meeting his own cheek, his hand grazes against a tiny figure.

"Taehyung?" he murmurs, blinking a few times to sit up and look at the fairy who's gleaming, fluttering around happily.

"Yeah, it's me~! But, your food might burn--" before he can finish his statement, he feels a slight shove of wind pushing him aside as Jimin scurries into the kitchen.

"Yes! I made it in time!" he hears, voice muffled behind the wall. Amused, Taehyung flies over to where Jimin is, peering over his shoulder as he serves himself the food.

"Hm? Why're you putting some on a smaller bowl?" Taehyung asks, and Jimin grins at him in return.

"It's for you! I made more than one serving," Jimin says just as he sets the spoon down, and carrying the two over to the small table.

"Oh..." Taehyung mutters, staying afloat above the table, looking at the cute bowl with his serving. His heart thumps louder, cheeks flushing, contrasting against his bright blue hair. "Thank you... really. But, I can't... eat in this form."

"Oh..." Jimin looks crestfallen, and Taehyung can't help but feel the painful squeeze in his heart at the sight. He offers a smile.

"But, wait," he says, and Jimin watches as Taehyung disappears behind him. Wondering what happened, he's about to turn around to see, but suddenly there's a human sized figure standing right behind his chair, beaming at him as he takes a few steps and pulls on the chair next to Jimin, sitting down and putting his hands together gratefully. "Thank you for the food," he says softly, before reaching for the spoon at the centrepiece and taking a bite out of the small bowl.

Jimin's eyes are wide, watching with awe. The beautiful bright blue with lovely flowers, and his deep green eyes, glowing look. He's wearing the same thing, a white robe with small floral patterns -- which he couldn't take note of when he was small -- but his wings are gone.

"You-- you -- what?" Jimin splutters, flushing bright red, taken aback at the whole situation. His heart speeds up, because wow, that is an angel right there eating at his dining table.

Taehyung looks at him, cheeks cutely puffed with the food, his bowl already empty. "Hm?"

Then, Jimin suddenly jolts, "Oh, wait!" he stands up, cheeks still pink as he glances at the small bowl before running into the kitchen again, before he walks back out with the same serving as his own. "That can't possibly fill you up," he mutters, placing it in front of Taehyung before sitting back down, looking at his own food, unsure of how to react. He's never mentioned he could turn big before, what the fuck? How can I deal with his beauty like this?

"Ah, you're so kind to me. Thank you so much, it's very delicious."

"Don't mention it," Jimin mutters, not meeting eyes as he picks his spoon up to eat. "It's just fried rice, not much."

"But, it's good!" Taehyung argues, mouth full of the food. "Totally worth the form-change," he mutters to himself, and Jimin isn't sure if he's meant to hear it.

"I didn't know... you could change like that. It took me by surprise."

"Oh," Taehyung blinks, tilting his head. "I guess I never told you. Well, now you know!" he says, eyes curving with his bright smile to which Jimin can't help but smile back just as bright.

As they eat, they start a conversation like their usual ones, talking about what's going on, Jimin's math classes, and Taehyung's life in FairyLand.

"But, it sounds a bit more fun here. FairyLand, it's..." Taehyung starts, sighing, eyes cast down, "They're so superficial. Almost everyone has an outward superiority complex, and no one does things knowing why they do it. It's like they're moving emptily, and I don't know how I ended up this way, raised in an environment like that, but," he takes a breath, pausing, "I wish I could be human sometimes."

Jimin hums, but then says, "Yeah, but I think most humans are the same way."

Taehyung gives him a look, a small pout with a hopeless look in his eyes. "Yeah, there are many humans like that, but... you don't understand, in FairyLand, literally everyone is like that, we have a smaller population, far far smaller than yours. So, it's very hard to find someone different like that, except like twenty people, and they're hard to find because they conform to it too, they can't live if they don't."

There's a small pause, Jimin not really knowing what to say. But, he can understand Taehyung's perspective. He's felt it too here, but of course, like he's said, there are far more people here, so there are more chances of people who don't agree to arise.

"I wish I could live here," Taehyung mutters sadly, eyes going back to his food.

Jimin's heart cracks, chest aching. With a comforting voice, he says, "...You're always welcome here."

Looking back into Jimin's eyes, Taehyung smiles, his lips turning up in the loveliest ways, eyes crinkling with happiness, the green shining. "Thank you."

Heart skipping a beat, Jimin freezes at the sight, breathless. He can't believe a smile like that exists.

"Hm?" The smile leaves, replaced by confusion with a head-tilt. "You alright?"

Flushing down to his collarbones, Jimin looks away, flustered beyond belief. He says humans have more chances of having good qualities, but he's walking around, a beautiful mind and a beautiful man? What more could perfection ask for if it wasn't asking for Kim Taehyung?

"Yeah, it's just that..." he starts, without thinking.

"Yeah?"

Jimin shyly looks back at Taehyung, the heat on his cheeks not subsiding as he says.

"You're beautiful."

Then, Taehyung's face mirrors Jimin, turning the same shade of pink. He averts his eyes, looking down shyly. "O-oh..."

"Yeah..." Jimin says awkwardly.

"That..." Taehyung starts, "That's... not an often compliment given out in the fairy world."

And, he's cute too.

"I still mean it. You're really beautiful, heart and looks both."

Taehyung looks beyond flustered, and Jimin can't help but feel smug that it's him making the man flustered instead of the usual other way around.

"Thank you... and, you... you're lovely."

Ah, dammit. His heart feels the wonderful, warm squeeze again, making him smile so bright, eyes disappearing as he almost loses his breath.

"Thank you." He wants to say more, but he feels so tongue-tied, flustered beyond belief at the situation.

"Ah! The time! It's stopped raining too!" Taehyung suddenly says, eyes wide and looking at the wall-clock. "I have to go. See you soon, Jimin-ah! Thank you for the food!" he says, standing up with his beautiful smile as he steps behind Jimin, suddenly flying back around as a fairy. He waves a bye, fluttering out the window, and just like usual, disappearing behind the petals of the lilies.

Jimin is frozen for a second, before he slumps in his own chair, leaning back, heart still thudding in his chest, cheeks still warm, lips in a soft smile.

I hope he comes again soon.

It's been four months since the dinner they had together for the first time, followed by many, weekly visits from Taehyung, perhaps even more than once a week sometimes, feeling that they've already found residence in each other's hearts, whatever they have between them growing with every visit.

And, this time, when Taehyung comes by, Jimin is watching his favorite show, eating junk food as he's curled up in his couch.

Ever since winter started, Jimin leaves a specific window left open through a crack that Taehyung could fit through, so he could come in whenever he wants, always welcomed.

"Is this the show you were watching last time too?" Taehyung asks, already in his human form as he walks over to the couch, sitting right next to Jimin and cuddling closer. Naturally, Jimin's arms go around Taehyung's waist, pulling him close as well as the side so he could have a view of the screen. The fairy gets comfortable and pulls the blanket over himself, watching the screen.

"No, it's a different one. This one is my favorite. I'm having a marathon of all the episodes I've missed."

Taehyung looks in wonder, he's seen a lot of movies and TV shows brought in from Earth into FairyLand, but he hasn't seen this. "How many have you missed?"

"Like two hundred?"

"What?" Taehyung swings his head to look at Jimin with wide eyes. "And, you're going to watch them all?"

There's a chuckle from Jimin as he pats Taehyung's shoulder comfortingly. "I've already caught up with like fifty, I've been watching since afternoon. It's winter break, I can sleep as late as I want."

"Oh! Right! You guys have winter break for... Christmas?" Taehyung tries to remember from the small history chapter he had to learn in his own classes back when he was in school.

Jimin smiles fondly, "That's right. And, also new years. It's... ten days? Until new year starts. You guys have a different calendar, right? When is your new year?"

Taehyung pouts a little as he thinks, setting his head down on Jimin's shoulder comfortable as they watch the green-haired character on the screen, seemingly training.

"I think... two months from now? I don't remember. I've stopped looking at the calendar when I started visiting you, I don't even know what day it is today, I always come by when I miss you too much that I can't handle it."

Heart warming at the words, Jimin snuggles closer to Taehyung. "You're cute."

"You're cuter."

Then, suddenly, instead of his usual reply of stacking the compliment, Jimin hushes him, "Wait, shh, it's getting to the main part!"

There's a soft yet fond laugh from Taehyung as he quiets down, watching with Jimin, warm from the embrace and the feelings in his heart.

An hour passes, three episodes done, and within that period, Jimin is crying, tears wetting the blanket as he sniffles, catching Taehyung's attention, eyes widening at the sight, heart falling.

"Jimin!" he exclaims, pulling the man close, hands gently combing through his hair. "Don't cry," he says, but his own voice is already cracking. "I'll cry too," he murmurs as he's already feeling his eyes well up.

Pulling back from the hug, Jimin reaches for the tissues nearby, blowing his nose into it, eyes red and still wet, now looking into Taehyung's, who doesn't seem to be any different.

"Why're you crying?" Taehyung asks, wondering if anything bad happened at work yesterday, willing to go up to whoever it was that dare to hurt Jimin like this, that he'd be crying so much.

"Because!" Jimin whines, tears spilling some more as he points to the screen. "He left, just like that! And, the burden carried by him, and the way he loves and respects and understands him but he just left, when they're all like family, it's just-- just--" he sniffles, tears spilling again, cheeks red with his eyes. "Wasn't it sad to you?" he asks, voice a little weak, pouting a little as his eyes shine with tears.

"Well... I think it's because I haven't seen it all..." Taehyung adds, but he's crying too, hands enclosing one of Jimin's.

"Then, why are you crying?" Jimin asks, sniffling a few more times before blowing into another tissue.

"Because," Taehyung whines lowly, his eyes wet as well, sniffling with Jimin. "You started crying! I couldn't help but cry too."
O
"You--" Jimin starts, but as he's crying, he starts laughing, "You're so cute, oh my god, Taehyung. You started crying because I did?" The pure delight in Jimin's eyes -- despite the redness and the tears -- that appear as he laughs makes Taehyung grin too, laughing with him. Their eyes are wet but their lips are stretched wide with a smile.

Noticing the time, Taehyung pouts. "I have to go now, though." Jimin's eyes sadden too, but they shine in happiness as Taehyung leans to hug him tight, hugging back just as tight before they part.

Taehyung looks at him jovially, eyes looking right into his as he cups his face, noses almost touching. Jimin's eyes are wide, but Taehyung doesn't seem to mind as he leans forward to press a kiss to his forehead.

"See you soon, Jiminie."

With that, Taehyung gently lets his hands off Jimin's face, one last happy glance at the man before he makes a turn around the couch, turning back into his fairy form and flying out and disappearing again, leaving Jimin on the couch, completely flustered.

"Oh! You've heard of Cypher too?" Jimin asks, excited and surprised that music from earth is actually known in FairyLand.

"Yeah, many of us take back music from here, so we know some of your music," Taehyung nods.

The two are in Jimin's garden, sitting on the new bench that Jimin had brought at put along the flowers so he could relax there with the flowers -- and with Taehyung, whom he'd grown so much closer to the past few months.

"They're my favorite to listen to, I really enjoy their music!" Jimin adds, enthusiastic about the topic.

Taehyung can't help but mirror the emotions, "Me too. I've actually bought a CD full of their songs. I play it when I'm doing household stuff, they're so good."

"Right?" Jimin is so happy to have a friend like Taehyung, despite their differences, being part of a different race, a different world, they could still resonate and enjoy conversations with similar viewpoints of the world.

As their conversation continues excitedly, they don't acknowledge their hands that entwine, blushes forming on their cheeks, hopping from one topic to another, yet enjoying every bit of it.

Naturally, when their words come to an end, they find themselves just looking at each other with a smile, hearts warm and in comfort, loving each other's presence -- loving each other.

Jimin doesn't know how he can express his gratitude, and love for the friendship that's formed between them -- a relationship which was friendship, and far more than that.

Eyes not leaving Taehyung -- beautiful Taehyung -- he opens his mouth, heart suddenly pacing at what he's about to say.

"I--"

But, he's interrupted, by a big shining orb appearing in front of the two -- around the same size as them.

There's a gasp from Taehyung -- he recognizes this. And just as Jimin is about to ask about it, a man emerges from the shining... portal? He presumes that's what it might be.

Another man follows the first one, both in the same attire, grey and robe-like. By the looks of it, they were part of something official.

Taehyung is looking at the two, wide eyes and pale whilst the two strangers who just arrived look at him sternly.

Jimin turns to look at him, wanting to ask what's going on, but the two in grey speak before him, answering his question before he can even ask.

"Kim Taehyung, you're under arrest for breaking Law 22, isn't it common knowledge to know that you aren't supposed to change forms or show your big forms in front of humans?"

Confusion taking over his system, Jimin just looks at Taehyung with concerned and helpless eyes, "What is happening?"

However, instead of the reassurance and smile he needed, he sees Taehyung slumped, eyes guilty and sad when he glances at Jimin.

"I'm sorry."

"What--?" Before Jimin can fully process what's happened, Taehyung is forced to stand up, getting handcuffed with one of the men in grey grab a hold of his wrist to pull him into the portal.

But, he says, "One minute, please," to the two before he turns to Jimin one last time, all the sorrow in his eyes as he speaks.

"Thank you for everything, Jimin. I... won't ever forget you. Please stay healthy and happy. I... don't think I'll be able to see you again. But, this risk... everything that we had together-- even if I've broken the law, it was all worth it to have this with you. I'm really sorry I wasn't more careful," his voice cracks, about to cry, but he doesn't want to leave Jimin on an even worse note.

Jimin, still unsure if he's process it all, still has a weak look in his eyes, wanting to reach out for Taehyung, hold him back, keep him here, but he can't.

"He's right. He'll be exiled from coming here, so don't expect him back," one of the guy says, finally starting to pull Taehyung along and into the portal. Taehyung can't look away, even if all Jimin's eyes hold is sadness and goodbye, he looks at him until he's pulled into the portal, the two parting forever.

And, for the first time, Jimin sees Taehyung disappear from him that isn't behind a flower. He's gone, just like that.

"And, if you see another fairy, please stop them from turning," the other guy just heartlessly says before jumping into the portal, leaving Jimin alone.

There's a second that passes before Jimin instinctually steps forward to go in himself, but it suddenly shrinks and disappears into nothing.

And, for a full minute, Jimin doesn't react, not really sure how to. But, it's only after another minute passes, it all hits him.

Taehyung is gone.

His eyes well up with tears, chest constricting in pain that his hand goes over his heart to contain it.

And, he'll never see him again.

Slumping down on the bench, Jimin brings his legs up, burying his face into his knees as he cries.

His best friend, and more; the reason his house didn't feel lonely, the reason Jimin started smiling everyday again, having a person to think about and be happy with --  but, he's gone, almost as if he was blown away by the wind.

Taehyung is special -- special in the way he made a home in his house, and in his heart.

But, he'll never see him again.
