'Opposites attract', it's often said,
And writers love the theme of fire and ice,
But it's more a conflict of heart and head,
Crush differences, allure won't suffice.

For the verdant spring and autumn mellow,
By summer and winter are kept apart,
The silvery moon and sun bright yellow,
See the other only when they depart.

It's an illusion that earth and sky meet,
Inverse are dawn and dusk, though both twilight;
One, the magnificent morning does greet,
The other welcomes the starry night.
