70. Seven Deadly Sins - Gluttony
I tickle your fancy and your taste buds,
And you prepare a list endlessly long,
Cooked meats to ripe fruits, baked goods to fried spuds,
You can eat everything, and drink along.
You eat in the mornings and eat at night,
There is no time or place you do not eat,
Greasy steaks, heavy pies and pastries light,
At gourmet dinners and in narrow street.
Pizzas and burgers, dumplings and meat pies,
All that fast food, you guzzle down with beer,
Chicken casserole or fish and fries,
Beef stew in red wine and lentils soup clear.
Life is just not all about food and drink,
But then with me that is all you can think.
You need enough to eat and drink to live,
Enjoy it but you never learnt to stop,
It's a temptation into which you give,
For another cookie or mutton chop.
Want too much, too soon, too expensively,
It is all about food, the thoughts you keep,
Eat too eagerly, and too daintily,
You eat when awake and dream when asleep.
But this indulgence is never alone,
Calls for moderation you do not heed,
As with other pleasures your mind is blown,
You open the door to my good friend, Greed.
I am Gluttony, though not the vice first,
I'm insatiable hunger, quenchless thirst
