66. Seven Deadly Sins - Greed

You have hoards of it, yet keep wanting more,
Be it money, baggage, power or fame,
Seeking pleasure, your possessions adore,
Each thing you gain is kindling to the flame.

You collect far more than your honest share,
Still it is not enough, does not suffice,
You steal from the needy and never care,
Lives and meaning lost, a very small price.

Material wealth dictates your worth,
Prized are humungous house and costly cars,
Of compunction, pity there is a dearth,
World's is just a collection of bazaars.

You lie, you steal, and you would sell your soul,
Yet nothing seems to fill the gaping hole.

I lull you into thinking I am good,
Essential for society at large,
So as a gallant merchant you have stood,
Strive to be honest in the deals you charge.

From honest means, limited are your gains,
Deception, you welcome with open arms,
Slowly, surely, enslave you in my chains,
As I engulf you in my dubious charms.

There's never an end for what you desire,
And what you get simply feeds your ego,
For when only possessions you admire,
It is just impossible to let go.

You wish and you crave, you want and you need,
I'm that insatiable hunger, I'm Greed.
