40. A Cloud's Aria
I see you too, sweet little child,
Rosy cheeks and curly hair wild,
Stretching as you try to touch me,
Your face all aglow as you smiled.
I am white, fluffy, little stout?
"Mama, a cloud teddy," you shout;
Even so high, your joy I see,
On chubby legs, you prance about.
I look for you on sunny days,
When with friends, dragonflies you chase;
Hidden behind that guava tree,
At night, through the window I gaze.
How I wish I could watch you grow,
But my time is short, you must know;
For though I float and seem so free,
Some time soon, I will fall below.
As the water drops grow bulky,
My white becomes dark and dusky,
I thunder over land and sea,
Fall as rain that makes you sulky.
Pitter patter, as drops I fall,
On grass, trees, benches and brick wall,
Forming puddles you jump in glee,
Goodbye, my dear friend cute and small.
