CHAPTER EIGHT
FAMOUS LAST WORDS
"and i was running far away"
˚✧₊*⁎⁺˳✧༚

After Stiles had left, Shivani was feeling drained. Being social like this was very exhausting and energy consuming for the Caddel girl.

She had made a bee line for the bathroom to throw herself into the shower. She didn't bother washing her hair for several reasons. One, she had already washed it the previous night. Two, she was running low on the conditioner. And three, she was feeling way to lazy to blow dry her entire hair, and sleeping with it wet wasn't an option. So it was lazily thrown it a horrible looking bun ( if it could even be classified as a bun ). When she was done in the shower, she dragged herself over to her bed.

With lights turnt off and a warm comforter wrapped around her body to make her look like a caterpillar, her eyes slowly slipped shut to the sound of cars driving past her house every now. The wind howling loudly outside lulled her peacefully to sleep. And just as she could feel herself going to dream land, the obnoxiously loud door bell interrupted.

What now.

Shivani pretended that she didn't hear the sound. Instead, she cuddled deeper into her bed. Sadly, whoever was at the door didn't feel like being ignored. Shivani groaned in defeat when she got out of her bed and headed downstairs. The bell continued blaring until she threw the front door open.

"What." She spat through gritted teeth. The first person that had come to mind was Stiles. Who else was rude enough to show up this late to hassle her about something? But it wasn't Stiles. Not that she knew, but he was currently down town at a gay club trying to prevent Danny from becoming snake food.

A tall brunette stood infront of Shivani. Allison shot the girl an apologetic smile. "Hi, sorry, I know it's late." Allison brushed past Shivani and entered the house. "I have a proposal."

Shivani edged around after shutting the door, one eyebrow arched. "Really? And this proposal couldn't wait?" Allison shook her head. "Well then, hit me with your best shot, Argent."

"After hearing what Derek said, I'm sure you've been considering your options." Allison started. Shivani snorted.

"Options? I'm not going to be joing Derek and his suicidal team any time soon. And it's not like you guys are just going to welcome me with open arms." Shivani said. As far as she was concerned, she had no options. Allison realized the girl had a point.

"That's the proposal. You help me, and I'll make sure you get a place in the 'pack'." Allison felt weird calling her friend group a pack, but there wasn't really any other word for it. The Argent girl wasn't dumb. She knew exactly how suspicious Stiles could be, and getting Shivani fully integrated into the pack would prove difficult. But for some reason unbeknownst to Allison, she trusted Shivani. She didn't know why, she just did.

"I'm not sure I want to get invovled with this stuff." Shivani argued. The Caddel girl and no idea why she was playing hard to get. She had already decided that she needed to team up with someone, and she was really at a point where'd she'd join anyone who would have her. These mythical creatures that had escaped from nightmares and were hiding in the shadows were scaring her, and she didn't want to face them alone.

"You're already involved, and sooner or later, when that kanima is coming for us, we're all going to need the help we can get." Allison retorted.

Shivani planted her hands on her hips. "Fine, what do you want in return?" Shivani had absolutely no clue as to what she had to offer the Argents girl.

Allison smiled. "Scott and Stiles are running around trying to fix things, and Scott won't let me help since he doesn't want me getting hurt." She started. "Well, I'm capable of protecting myself, and I'm going to prove that to him."

"Good for you, girl power." Shivani mused.

"But I'm going to need some help." Allison added. Shivani had seen the request coming, but couldn't help but to groan. Minutes ago she was ready to fall asleep, and now this? She just wanted her rest for gods sake.

"And you want mine?" Shivani skeptically questioned to which Allison nodded at. "Why are you asking me? Isn't Lydia your best friend?"

"Yes, but Lydia doesn't know about all of this stuff, and she's not going to know either. It's for her own protection." Allison said. "Do we have a deal?"

Shivani sighed, giving in. "Sure, Argent." She held her hand out. "We have a deal."

Stiles and Scott was making the top of Shivani's 'stupidest people she had ever met' list when she got wind of what their latest doings had been.

The day had start off normally. She had woken up, gone to school and parked at the spot furthest from the school. Classes were boring, she handed in hers and Stiles, project, the school day rolling by slowly. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until Shivani had been walking past the principles office to find it packed with police officers. The next moment she had been pulled into an empty classroom by none other than Allison.

Allison had frantically explained how Jackson was missing. In fact, he had been kidnapped. Ten points to whoever could guess by whom.

Yes, Stiles freaking Stilinski and Scott McCall had came up with the brilliant idea to just kidnap him while he was still in his human form. That way, in their little heads, they would be buying themselves more time to figure out what to do about the whole kanima situation. What they didn't take into account was that someone would surely notice that the boy was nowhere to be seen.

Jackson's parents had noticed almost immediately. And the thing that pushed them to go to the police was the fact that Stiles had been stupid enough to send a text from Jackson's phone to his parents telling them he was okay and that he loved them. Shivani had known the Whittemore boy for, like, a week, and had met him what three times? And even she knew that he didn't exactly seem like the 'I love you' type of son. But apparently Stiles hadn't caught on to that, and now he was royally screwed.

Currently, Scott and Stiles had to deal with keeping Jackson hidden while dodging the police. Something that was especially hard since there weren't that many places to hide a boy, or a giant lizard out to kill people. Beacon Hils was a small town, and Stiles' freaking dad was the sheriff. Why did Shivani have to get stuck with the stupidest pack in town? She was seriously considering switching sides. . .

Allison shared Shivani's opinion on the stupidity the two boys had expressed through this 'plan'. When was resorting to kidnapping ever a good idea?

Allison had been sucked into the mess by Scott, and she in turn sucked Shivani into the mess. Which is how Shivani ended up at the Sheriffs station next to Scott and Stiles, being handed a restraining order from Jackson's lawyer, who also just happened to be his father. Shivani most definitely would not have participated in this whole ordeal if she knew his father was a damned lawyer! It only made them all the more screwed. David Whittemore had also made sure Sheriff Stilinski called all their parents, including Shivani's. The girl was dreading facing them.

Her parents had never been this angry with their daughter before. They had been fuming at her for doing something like this, especially since they both had to pulled from work by a police officer to pick her up from the station. They had given her, in a moment of rage, house arrest til she turned eighty. Shivani wasn't too worried, it wasn't like either of them would be home long enough to make sure she obeyed to the house arrest.

Shivani herself had given Stiles and Scott a piece of her mind. They weren't willing to trust her, but they appeared to have no problem having her take the downfall of their actions alongside of them. Allison, the sneaky little bitch, had slipped out of the situation unharmed. Shivani was planning on giving her a lecture of her own. They had agreed to team up. Shivani didn't know that would result in her ending up as collateral damage. To put it lightly, Shivani was royally pissed of at everyone right about now. Being the new girl was hard enough, she didn't need to be labeled as a stalker too.

Allison had assured her, however, that it would bring her closer to earning the trust of the pack. She was probably right too. Taking damaged with them would only bring them closer. At least that was what she was telling her self in an attempt to calm her annoyance.

Something good had happened while all of this had been going down thought. Allison had gotten some papers from this beastiary that belonged to her family. It had its own section about the kanima. Sadly, it was all written in Latin or something. Allison had tried getting Ms. Morrel, the guidance counselor and French teacher at Beacon Hills High to help. She had translated that the kanima seeked a friend where a wolf seeked a pack. But it had been misread.

Thanks to help from Lydia, they revealed that the kanima didn't seek a friend, but instead, a master. Which meant that someone was controlling the thing. It was a complete game changer. Lydia kept suprising Shivani with her vast knowledge.

Shivani was currently seated next to Stiles in chemistry, whispering back and forth on who they thought the master might be. So far they had come up with a few names. It seemed like Stiles was growing less skeptical of Shivani, but there was still a far way to go. Shivani was taking the small wins.

"Okay, who do we have so far?" Stiles questioned. Shivani glanced down in her notebook, eyes fanning over the names written in pink ink.

"Derek, which I'm by the way totally against, Gerard, appointed by me and Allisons mother." If it was anyone out of the three, it would have to be Gerard, in Shivani's opinion. He had arrived at the same time as the kanima started killing, and he was just creepy in general. That combined with the fact that his family was all werewolf hunters, Shivani was convinced he was pure evil.

"Put Matt on the list." Stiles instructed.

     "Who?"

"Matt. Matt Daehler. You know him." Stiles insisted. Shivani shook her head.

"I really don't. Never heard the name before." She argued. Matt Daehler? She had never heard of him before. Stiles rolled his eyes in irritation.

"Whatever, just put him on the list. He's a weirdo, always hanging around everywhere with that camera of his. He's giving me creep vibes, like he's a stalker or something." Stiles said, shuddering at the thought of the boy.

"Oooh, he's that guy who always takes picture of Allison." Shivani realized. "Yeah, no definitely stalker vibes to that one." She quickly jutted his name down on the list. They had compiled a small yet plausible list. Now they just needed to do some investigation. Shivani was having fun despite the life threatening circumstances of it all. It was like playing Sherlock Holmes in a detective film.

"That's what I'm saying!" Stiles whispered a little too loudly. He cringed when Mr. Harris shot him a threatening look.

"So, how are we going to test our theories on the suspects? It's not like we can randomly interrogate them." Shivani said. Stiles nodded in agreement.

"I guess we'll just have to observe or something." He suggested.

"That, or we can really annoy them, and see if the kanima comes after us." Shivani joked. If she was a master of that thing, she would definitely put it on whoever got on her nerves, like this kid Greenberg. He was so annoying it wasn't even funny.

"Haha, funny." Stiles sarcastically replied. Soon enough class ended, and Stiles and Shivani was heading down the hallway down to the library for the free period. They were meeting Scott and Allison there.

Since Gerard had become principal of the school, cameras had been put up everywhere. It was another reason Shivani wanted his name on the list. Why the hell did he want cameras everywhere taping the student? It also made things harder for the secret love going on between Scott and Allison. Shivani was now committed to helping the two get messages to each other back and forth. It was a part of their deal, Allison had said.

Shivani was getting the feeling Allison was getting more out of this deal than her, but she couldn't be bothered to protest. At least not yet.

When they arrived at the library they quickly located Scott looking at some books. In his hands were a tabloid that probably belonged to Allison. The two ended up on each side of the wolf, taking notice of the Argent girl on the other side of the shelf, looking down at a book herself.

"It's everything Lydia can translate. And trust me, she was very confused." Allison said as Shivani peered over Scott's shoulder. He zoomed into some text about the kanima.

"Yeah, what'd you tell her?" The crooked jawed boy wondered as he examined the words.

"That we were part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures." Allison replied, barely able to mask the smile creeping on her face at the mention of the ridiculous excuse. Shivani chuckled, how ridiculous is that?

"I am part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures." Stiles said with a somewhat offended tone, staring directly at the brunette on the other side. Allison's mouth fell slightly agape, shocked.

Shivani snorted. "Of course you are."

"Okay, does it say how to find out who's controlling him?" Scott said before Stiles could reply to Shivani.

"Not really. But Stiles was right about the murderers." Allison said, earning a 'yes' and a big grin from Stiles. He loved being right. "It calls the kanima a weapon of vengeance. There's a story in there about this South American priest who uses the kanima to execute murderers in his village-"

"All right, see? So maybe it's not all that bad." Stiles interrupted Allison, glancing between Scott and Shivani.

"That depend on what counts as a murder. Technically, you murdered a fly in chemistry class." Shivani pointed out.

"Wha- that doesn't count. And in my defense, the fly was really getting on my nerves." Stiles defended. The Caddel girl wasn't above squashing the occasional fly that was grossing her out, but she did prefer to steer them out of her room instead.

Allison ignored the two, continuing. "Until the bond grew strong enough that it killed whoever he wanted it to."

Stiles' face fell. "All bad. All very, very bad."

"Here's the thing, though. The kanima's actually supposed to be a werewolf. But it can't be-" Allison paused when a woman brushed past her to put a book back.

"Until it resolves what's in its past which manifested it." Scott finished for her, reading from the tabloid. Allison nodded.

"Okay, if that means that Jackson could use a few thousand hours of therapy, I could've told you that myself." Stiles said. Shivani nodded in agreement.

"What if it has something to do with his parents? His real parents." Allison suggested.

"He's adopted?" Shivani questioned. Allison nodded. Well this was news to her.

"Yeah, does anybody actually know what happened to them?" Scott questioned, look over at Stiles.

     "Lydia might."

     "And if she doesn't?"

"Well, he doesn't have a restraining order against me, so- I'll talk to him myself." Allison decided. It was probably a bad idea to approach the deadly killing machine to poke around about the death of his actual parents, seeing as it probably was a sensetive topic, but Allison was a big girl. As she had said before, she was able to protect herself. In worst case scenario, the Caddel girl could linger behind to interfere if anything went south.

"Okay, what do I do?" Scott queried. Allison shot him a small smile.

"You have a make up exam, remember?" Allison reached her forwards to grab his hand. "Promise me." He nodded.

The very last thing he wanted to do right now was focus on some stupid exam. But failing wasn't exactly ideal either. If he failed, he would be kicked off the team, which in turn would result on him becoming furthermore separated from the Whittemore boy. He couldn't risk it.

"If he does anything, run the other way." Scott ordered.

"I can take care of myself."

Famous last words, Shivani thought as the Allison girl left.

It would be interesting to see how this all was going to pan out.
