CHAPTER SEVEN
JACKSON- SNAKE -WHITTEMORE
"this old town don't smell too pretty"
˚✧₊*⁎⁺˳✧༚

When Shivani used her powers, it was usually because her drink wasn't cold enough, or she simply didn't bother to go get something so she made it come to her. Rarely did she ever use them at someone ( rarely meaning that sometimes she made someone trip purposely because they annoyed her and deserved it ), yet here Isaac Lahey was, lying on the ground like some werewolf popsicle.

Shivani looked just as suprised as the other two in the room. It wasn't like she had done it on purpose, he just spooked her. His fault really. He should've known better then to sneak up on a mermaid. When she shot her hands up in defense, her powers had kicked in and effective immediately frozen him. She would have been a tad bit more nervous if it wasn't for the fact that he was a werewolf and that meant he magically healed. They just had to wait for him to melt. . . whoopsies.

The girl nervously scratched the back of her head, shooting Allison and Stiles a nonchalant shouldered shrug. "Turn up the heat and he'll, erm, defrost."

Right now they didn't have especially much time to worry about that anyways. Erica was also not outside any longer. When Shivani informed of that, Allison quickly bolted upstairs, probably to make sure Lydia stayed hidden. "Guys, it's here!" Allison yelled from upstairs. 'It' being the kanima of course. Shivani groaned loudly. After the last encounter with that thing, Shivani was really betting on her luck that she wouldn't see it again.

Then, out of the blue, coming to the rescue; Scott McCall. All in his wolfy glory, fangs and everything, he bursted into the room. He looked around confused. "Allison told me to hurry, what's going on?" Scott asked, confused as to why it was so peaceful there. Then, he spotted Isaac. "And what happened to him?"

"We'll tell you later, right now we have other things to worry about." Stiles said, jutting a thumb in the direction of Boyd and Derek.

Allison then made her way downstairs, dragging Erica behind her. Shivani arched a brow at the Argent girl when she noticed how very non moving and paralyzed the Reyes girl were. "Well done, Allison." Hey, that rhymes! Shivani chuckled to herself.

Scott threw the front door open, throwing both Isaac and Erica out on the lawn, infront of Derek.

Derek smirked at the teens, whipping out his claws. "I think I'm finally getting why you keep refusing me, Scott. You're not an omega, you're already an Alpha of your own pack." Derek said. "But you know you can't beat me."

Scott grinned himself. "I can hold you off until the cops get here." The sirens rang loudly in the background. Derek's face dropped.

"Get them out of here." He instructed to Boyd, pointing at the other half of the pack. Then, his gaze turned to Shivani. "You know, the smart thing for you to do would be coming to me. We will be able to protect you. You think they want you? They'll never trust you or let you into their tight little circle."

Shivani knew what he was saying was probably true, but then again, she knew something else too. "Yeah, and you would? Trust me, just like that? Derek, I am well capable of protecting myself, and I'm not about to let you make me into some guard dog or something because you think I'm helpless."

Derek furrowed his brows as he stared at the girl. She would've been a valuable asset to the team, that was for sure, and they would have the element of suprise against the Argents too. He was just going to have to work her over. And after seeing what she did to Isaac, well, it only made him want her in his team even more.

Suddenly, Lydia bursted out of the house, a distressed look on her face. "Would someone please tell me what the hell is going on?" She exclaimed, looking accusingly at everyone.

Before anyone could react, a screech silenced them. The kanima creeped around the corner of the house, hissed loudly, then took off into the dark night. Realization settled into everyone as Scott spoke.

     "It's Jackson."

Shocking as it was, Shivani was currently sitting in her room. Okay, so that's not too shocking. But what was? Stiles was in her room with her.

Stiles figured that what Derek said was partly true. She could easily join Derek, making everything about a gazillion times harder for them. Though he was very, very skeptical, he was going to try getting to know the mermaid. And maybe get to know just how powerful she was. Just in case the information came in handy one of those days, you know?

The best way, apparently, to get to know someone, was by simply hanging out. Stiles actually couldn't remember the last time him and Scott had just hung out without it being to plan how not to be murdered by somethimg or someone. It had to have been before Scott got bitten or something.

Simply hanging out, even if it was with Shivani, was proving to be shockingly refreshing.

He was spinning around in an office chair parked at the desk in the corner of the room while Shivani sat with her legs crossed on her bed. It was getting late, and Stiles had kinda showed up without a notice. It was incredibly intrusive in Shivani's opinion. Stiles had only done it in case he caught her in the middle of doing some voodoo stuff.

He let his eyes wander across her room. It was very different from what he expected. Some part of him thought the room would be bright pink, the other part thought it would be covered with mermaids or something. He'd admit, it was a silly assumption.

Her walls were a neutral shade of brown. It made everything blend in nicely. Plants were scattered around the room, and by the looks of it Shivani was pretty serious about making sure they were treated well. Her bed was located in one corner, and was about queen sized. It was resting just by the window to the outside world that was currently being blocked out by beige curtains. Stiles took notice to the several different shells and other items that without doubt that been collected from the ocean. It intruiged him, had she collected them all herself? Probably.

A small oyster shaped glass bowl hosted several pearls on the desk infront of him. He let his finger grasp one of the pearls, admiring the beauty it held.

"You like it?" Shivani asked. Stiles didn't let his eyes leave it.

"Yeah." He nodded in response.

"You can keep it, if you'd like." Shivani said as she leaned back on her arms. Stiles shot her a suprised look.

"Really? Isn't this kind of stuff expensive? It looks real." He mused.

Shivani chuckled. "That's because they are. And no, they didn't cost anything other then some time spent in the ocean. I collected them myself." She explained. Shivani was growing quite proud of her little collection. Collecting stuff from her swims was probably a stupid idea once her parents noticed and started questioning it, but so far she hadn't been caught. It was like a souvenir. Every swim was unique to her. All the talking about the ocean and her collection made her desperate to go for a swim.

"That's actually. . . very cool." He said. Shivani grinned in reply, taking it as a compliment. Who would have thought pearls was the way into Stiles' heart?

"So, dare I ask why you came here?" Shivani asked once Stiles had slipped the pearl into his pocket.

He shrugged his shoulders. "Figured we could finish up our chemistry project." Stiles lied.

Shivani got to her feet and walked over to the desk. She pulled a drawer open, snatching a stack of papers from it. She dropped them on the desk infront of him. "It's not due till next week, and besides, I've already finished it."

Damn it, Stiles thought. He had to come up with a new and better excuse then.

Shivani spoke again before he could throw her another lie. "You should really work on your trust issues, you know?"

Stiles' head snapped to her. "What?"

"You heard me. I mean, I'm not stupid. That's the reason you're here, isn't it?" Shivani said. "To check if I had some secret weapon, or some master plan cooking. Well, you can ease your shoulders. I'm not planning world domination."

Stiles rolled his eyes. "Yeah, excuse me, but I'm a little suspicious by the fact that you just happened to show up at the same time as the kanima appeared and started killing."

It was Shivani's turn to roll her eyes. "Jackson's the kanima, remember? Not me."

"Yes, but how do I know you didn't make him into a kanima?" Stiles asked accusingly.

"Seriously? Oh, yeah, maybe I just did some hocus pocus to him, casting a spell that turnt him into a bloodthirsty snake on legs with the power to paralyze in seconds." Shivani sarcastically spat. "I'm a mermaid, alright? Not a witch. I can make instant popsicles and heat up the shower water. I couldn't have turnt Jackson into a freaking unicorn even if I wanted to. And for the record, lizards creep me out. I would have turned him into a fairy before anything with snakeskin."

Stiles didn't reply. She was right. Obviously she wasn't the reason Jackson was running around killing people. He already knew that the bite Derek had given the jock was the reason behind this all. Something had gone wrong in his transformation, yes, but Shivani didn't have anything to do with it. Honestly, there was no real reason to be picking a fight with her. All the things he was accusing her of were ridiculous and he was aware that they all were wrong as well. But the fact that he had no idea how Jackson really was the kanima, or how they were going to stop him, really messed with his mind. He was always the guy with a plan, but right now, he just didn't have one.

˚✧₊*⁎⁺˳✧༚

Stiles had a plan.

"Did you see where he went?"

Scott and Stiles were standing outside a local club for gay men at the moment.

"No, I lost him."

Sadly, it was more much more morbid reasons than them being fruity.

"What? You couldn't catch his scent?"

They were standing away from the line leading inside of the club, discussing the kanima, also known as Jackson.

"I don't think he has one."

Stiles groaned. Scott had followed the kanima all the way downtown to this club, only to lose him. Perfect. "All right, any clue where he's going?" Stiles quizzed. Scott had called him to meet him here as soon as he had arrived. Stiles had left Shivani's house in a hurry, telling her that his father needed him at home. The Caddel girl didn't really care for the reason, she was simply happy he was leaving so that her and Milton could cuddle up in bed to some tv show.

Stiles' plan? His 'plan' ( due to lack of better words ) was to follow Jackson and keep him from killing anyone. He had absolutely no idea how, and neither did Scott. They just figured retracing his steps would lead them right to him. It was a flawed plan, yes, but a plan nonetheless. And it wasn't like Scott had a better one.

"To kill someone." Scott replied in a matter of factly tone, eyes scanning over the building repeatedly in an attempt to spot the lizard.

Stiles scoffed loudly. "Ah. That explains the claws, and the fangs, and all that. Good. Makes perfect sense now." Stiles sarcastically spat. Scott shot him a displeased look. "What? Scott, come on. I'm 147 pounds of pale skin and fragile bone, okay? Sarcasm is my only defense."

That, and the trusty baseball bat of his. Well, Scott's trusty baseball bat.

"Just help me find it." Scott ordered.

"Not 'it'. Jackson." Stiles corrected. When thinking about it, it made perfect sense that Jackson was the kanima. Derek had said something about the shape one took could reflect ones personality. Well, the snakey creature matched Jackson ideally. Stiles was bummed out he hadn't figured it out way sooner.

"I know, I know." Scott sighed. On one side, knowing who the kanima was made things easier. The problem was that not only they knew, but Derek also did. Which meant that Jackson was going to the target.

"All right, but does he know that? Did anybody else see him back at your house?" Stiles asked. Scott shook his head.

"I mean, I don't think so, but he already passed Derek's test anyway." Scott said.

Stiles pursed his lips. "Yeah, but that's just the thing. How did he pass the test?" He wondered.

Once again, Scott's answer was "I don't know."

Scott was feeling conflicted. He knew that Jackson was a danger to the town and that if they didn't do something about him, more innocent people would die. He also knew that they couldn't run after him every single night trying to protect everyone.

Stiles had a theory. "Maybe it's like an either- or thing. I mean, Derek said that a snake can't be poisoned by its own venom, right? When's the kanima not the kanima?"

Stiles, personally, didn't really mind Derek's idea of killing Jackson off. He was a big headed asshole who cared about no one but himself. He had been pushing Stiles and Scott around forever, that is until Scott got the bite. And to top it all off, he was a dickhead towards Lydia. Stiles drew the line at that.

"When it's Jackson." Scott realized. As he said it, the said boy in his other form crawled around the corner and inside the building. "He's inside."

"What's he doing inside there?" Stiles wondered out loud, eyebrows pulled into a comfused look.

Scott's eyes widened when a familiar scent hit his nostrils. He would himself looking around frantically, his stomach dropping when he spotted the certain someone the smell belonged to. "I know who he's after."

Stiles looked over at him. "What? How? Did you smell something." Stiles asked as he looked around for that someone himself.

Scott nodded, already starting to head towards the back door. "Armani."

He grabbed the doorknob, ripping it cleanly off the door. The door creaked open, and inside the two boys went. Jackson was after Danny, and he needed to be stopped.
