CHAPTER SIX
WEREWOLF POPSICLE
"hope we're still friends,
hope you don't mind"
˚✧₊*⁎⁺˳✧༚

After the whole kanima-pool situation, Stiles told Shivani he was going to give her a ride home. Did Stiles give Shivani a ride home like he had promised he would? No. No he did not. Instead he drove straight past the turn to her house. It reminded Shivani of this horror movie where the girl got kidnapped by hitching a ride with some guy and he 'missed' the turn. Shivani didn't exactly get the whole serial killer vibe from Stiles, but after tonight, she wasn't about to rule out any possibility. For all she knew, he was some evil wizard who drew power by sacrificing people. Okay, so maybe she had watched a horror movie too much, but who could blame her! In towns like this, staying prepared was obviously for the best.

Despite empty threats from Shivani, Stiles continued driving, ending up at the Beacon Hills preverse. He wanted to talk to her, and had figured that she couldn't really refuse to if it meant she had to walk home alone in the dark when she had no idea what direction she'd go in. He would've brought her to his house, but his dad was home. And he didn't want her knowing where he lived. . . guess he was just being cautious.

After putting on an entire interrogation towards Shivani, he had finally gotten satisfied. Well, at least for now. He then drove her home. She had flipped him off and trudged up to the front door. Suprisngly enough, her dads car was there, so was her mother's. Scarcely was the two Caddel's home at the same time.

Both were fast asleep when she got inside. Neither had notified her absence, or they had noticed and just assumed she was out with some friends. Shivani would be screwed if she ever got kidnapped. It would take her parents at least a week to even notice her disappearance.

The second her head had hit her pillow, she was out like a light herself. Fully dressed and with makeup on. She didn't even brush her teeth, that's how tired she was. This whole supernatural thing was really draining, that was for sure. Gosh, she was going to be disgusting at school tommorrow.

It was suprising that she fell as sleep that quickly. Shivani was an over thinker by nature, and after the events of the night, her head had been reeling. Kanimas, werewolves and whatnots were suppose to stay in those damned horror movies. They weren't suppose to penetrate into her life like this. The girl felt uneasy, she had no idea what this all meant. Now that they knew about her, did that mean she had to stick around them? The Caddel girl could feel her anxiety bite at her at the mere thought of having to hang around that number of people for more than a second. It made her want to vomit.

When the next day actually arrived she managed to oversleep. Still, she somehow managed to get a quick shower in, eat breakfast and make herself look presentable. And, of course, brush her teeth. But she barely made it to school on time.

When heading down the hallway, she had ignored Stiles and Scott's eyes glued to her back. Shivani didn't exactly expect them to suddenly welcome her into the friend group with open arms now. Actually, she wasn't even sure she wanted to be a part of it. The girl wasn't sure how she'd function it that type of setting, and in all honesty she didn't really want to find out. It wouldn't shock her if she just completely shut down. Shutting down was a very Shivani Caddel thing to do.

Stiles had not only pressed her for information, but had also told her a fair share of the things happening around them. Like Derek not only being a werewolf, but an alpha at that. Also, Allison's entire family was werewolf hunters, which pretty much summed up why she was being so sneaky and secretive with Scott. Her werewolf hunting family would blast his werewolfy ass if they found out about the two. It almost sounded peotic; forbidden love. The trope was one of Shivani's favorites.

As much as Shivani wanted to help, and she really did want to, she was extremely hesitant towards it. She had everyday teenage things to worry about. She would rather be all worked up over a boy or something than to be running from a brutal death and saving the town. Shivani wasn't exactly the heroic savior type of gal. But doing nothing when she knew her powers could come in handy just felt wrong. What if something happened, something really bad, and she could have help prevent it? Did all of this leave a big share of responsibility for her too? It was all stressing her out.

First class of the day was economics. Sure, Shivani liked the. . . pep Coach Finstock had to him, but she could actually not imagine a worse way to start the morning. As tired and grumpy she currently was, she wasn't too sure she wouldn't freeze his mouth shut if he started screaming and yelling. Apparently, it was his favorite way of teaching. Aggressive yelling until the students got it. Questionable method, sure, but for some reason it seemed to work.

The class kicked off with Coach asking for volunteers to write the answers to the questions on the board. Shivani had her textbook and notebook out, actually prepared to pay attention, but Stiles' horribly habit of basically yelling when he was trying to whisper disturbed her from being able to pay attention.

So the only sensible thing to do was to listen into their conversation. Discreetly, she leaned closer to Stiles to eavesdrop. "How do you know it's not her?"

Stiles sighed. "Because I looked into the eyes of that thing, okay? And what I saw was pure evil. And when I look into Lydia's eyes, I only see 50% evil. All right, maybe 60. You know, but no more than 40 on a good day." Shivani arched a brow at the conversation. They really suspected the Lydia of being the kanima? Wait, it actually wouldn't really suprise her. What, with her track record of running around eating livers naked? Why not turn into a homicidal lizard every now and then! In Shivani's opinion, it was quite the upgrade.

It wasn't that Shivani didn't like the Martin girl, it was just that she came off a little harsh. The way she bluntly blurted the rudest things whenever would just really catch Shivani off guard. And quite frankly, Shivani thought her attitude was off putting. It was clear as day to anyone actually paying any attention that the strawberry blonde was intelligent. For some reason the girl hid behind a dumb exterior and snarky remakes instead of actually owning up to who she was. The Caddel girl couldn't understand why someone could be so smart yet so dumb at the same time.

If she had Lydia's brain, she would put it do damned good use.

"Stiles that's not a very good argument." Scott retorted.

"I second that." Shivani said, entering the conversation. She had final,t made the desicion. Since she was already mixed up in this stuff, the smartest option would be to team up. As for right now, she was officially going to abandon her introvert ways and try making friends with these guys. It was going to be hard, no doubt, especially with how untrusting Stiles appeared to be. But she was going to make it. Maybe a little trick or two with her powers would be enough to sway them.

"How nice of you to offer your completely unwanted opinion, Shivani." Stiles said with his eyes narrowed at her. She offered a grin in return.

"You're welcome."

"Whatever. I'm aware that it isn't the best argument, but I swear it's not her. It can't be, all right? Lydia's fine." As if on cue, Coach called her voice. The three turned their attention over to her.

Shivani was shocked to find the girl trembling at the board. She had written several things on the board, none of it understandable. Shivani wasn't so sure the girl was fine. Right about now, she really needed to see a therapist in Shivani's opinion.

"Okay then, anyone else wanna try answering? This time in english." The class erupted in laughter. Shamefully, Lydia retreated back to her seat in the very back.

"You sure she's fine?" Shivani questioned. Stiles ignored her. Instead he snapped a picture of the board.

"What is that, Greek?" Scott wondered.

"Actually," Stiles started. "I think it's English." He showed the two his phone. He flipped the phone upside down revealing something chilly. Repeatedly, over the entire board, Lydia had written 'someone help'.

Okay yeah, she definitely needed some counseling.

"Einstein once said, 'Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; And while I'm not sure about the universe, I myself have encountered infinite stupidity. So to combat the plague of ignorance in my class, you're going to combine efforts through a round of group experiments. Let's see if two heads are indeed better than one. Or in Mr. Stilinski's case, less than one." Mr. Harris said, the class snickering. He really, really did not like Stiles. "Erica, you take the first station. You'll start with-" He paused when several hands shot in the air. Mostly boys, but a few girls, volunteered. Shivani didn't blame them, Erica was stunning. "I didn't ask for volunteers. Put your hormonal little hands down. Start with Mr. McCall. All right, next two."

Mr. Harris continued assigned different seats and temporary partners. For some reason unbeknownst to Shivani, Allison hurried over to Lydia, stealing the seat next to her before Isaac could. The Caddel girl simply shrugged it off as she opted doodle mindlessly in her notebook. Chemistry was one of the few topics the girl actually mastered, so she never felt the need to lay any actual attention to the class.

He threw a look over the class quickly, a smirk landing on his face when he noticed the very empty seat next to Shivani. He slid into it, grinning down at her.

"So, you're the mermaid." Isaac opened as they started combining different substances.

Unimpressed, she retorted. "So, you're that werewolf."

"I've got to admit, you're quite the sight for sore eyes. You're exceeding expectations of what a real mermaid would look like." Isaac flirted. Funnily enough, Shivani enjoyed his company. She wasn't exactly immune to charm, no one had ever really flirted with her before. A few years ago she would have crumbled at the slightest sign of flirting pointing in her direction. But now, suddenly, she had the confidence to fight back.

"Oh really? What'd you expect? Red hair, shining blue eyes?" She asked, scribbling down what she was doing as she continued working in the project.

"Something like that."

Shivani looked up at him. He, much like Erica and Derek, was cladded in a leather jacket. Was it some kind of pack thing? Matching jackets? They looked like some kind of band. "You going to keep staring or are you going to actually help me?" The brunette scoffed, a single eyebrow arched as she awaited his reply.

"I think I'll stick with the first option." Shivani snorted. Soon enough the small bell chimed, signaling that it was time to switch partners. Stiles was the next one to plump into the seat next to her. Hopefully he would prove a better partner than Isaac.

"Care to tell me what's going on?" Stiles moved his gaze from Lydia and over to Shivani. Her eyes were fixated on the project infront of her. "And spare me the whole 'I don't know what you're talking about' act. You, Allison and Scott are acting weirdly, especially towards Lydia and the other two wolves."

"Fine. You know how Derek wants to find and eliminate that thing? Well, he thinks it's Lydia. And he has this whole theory about snakes not being affected by their own venom, so we think Isaac and Erica is testing it on Lydia right now." He quickly explained. Shivani raised an eyebrow at the information.

"Well, that would be a science experiment gone wrong, now wouldn't it?" Shivani joked in attempt to lighten the mood. "No but seriously. Why are you trying to prevent it? Don't you want know who it is?"

Stiles opened his mouth, but instead paused. She was right. It wasn't like it would hurt Lydia. Well, at least not permanently. And when she did get paralyzed, it would throw Derek off her scent. It was a win win sitatuion. Derek would focus his attention elsewhere and they would have another name to cross of the list of possible kanima candidates.

Stiles had no shame in admitting that Shivani was still on that suspect list.

Once again the bell rang through the small classroom. This time Scott and Stiles ended up together, while Isaac ended up with Lydia and Erica with Shivani. "Time. If you've catalyzed the reaction correctly, you should now be looking at a crystal. Now for the part of that last experiment I'm sure you'll all enjoy- You can eat it." Mr. Harris announced.

He smiled slightly at Shivani. "I'm impressed, Ms. Caddel. This is exactly the behavior I was talking about. Well done." Shivani grinned in response. The girl couldn't help it, she loved praise!

She proudly held up the perfectly formed crystal. She shot Erica a side glance. "Care to taste?" Erica returned the grin.

"Sure." The crystal crunched loudly in her mouth. "Wow, well done. You're quite the chef."

"Well thank you." Shivani played along.

Suddenly, Scott shot up from his seat and stormed towards Lydia and Isaac. "Lydia!" The McCall boy exclaimed just as she herself was about to take bite of the crystal she had made. Scott caught everyone's attention with his actions.

"What?" The strawberry blonde questioned, brows pulled up together to create a confused expression.

Awkwardly he scratched the back of his neck, noticing everyone's eyes on him. "Eh, nothing." He returned back to his seat next to Stiles, watching in tension as Lydia ate the crystal coated in the paralyzing substance. Much to their suprise, the girl didn't fall to the ground paralyzed. Instead, she obliviously munched on the crystal.

Shivani leaned back with an impressed look.

"Well would you look at that."

Somehow, don't ask how because Shivani didn't know the answer, the mermaid in question had landed her ass at none other than Scott McCall's house. The weird part? She was here with Lydia, Stiles, Jackson and Allison. The weirder part? Scott wasn't even there, and it was his house for Gods sake. And even weirded part? Derek and his little wolfy pack of guard dogs were outside ready to off Lydia. Okay, maybe that part was more morbid then weird, but still.

Shivani had made up her mind about making friends with them all, this was probably just a part of that. At least she wouldn't be bored, right?

Stiles had mentioned something about her powers coming in handy, that being the only reason she was asked to tag along. For now, she'd take that as a win. She was well aware that Stiles was going to be a tuff nut to crack. She needed to be greatful.

"Stiles told you?" Shivani guessed when she noticed the odd look she was receiving from Allison for the hundredth time since they had arrived. Jackson and Lydia had retreated upstairs somewhere to talk while the other three guarded the door.

"Yeah." Allison answered. "It's kinda cool actually."

"It comes in handy every now and then." The Caddel girl joked. Allison grinned, appreciating the effort to lighten the mood. Stiles, however, did not.

"Can one of you do something." He pleaded, looking over at the two brunette girls.

     "Like what?"

"I don't know, barbecue their asses or something. Or you could shoot them with an arrow." Stiles responded, wildly gesturing with his hands as he spoke.

"I can try something." Shivani said, moving over to the window. Her eyes furrowed when she looked outside. "Eeeeh, weren't there four of them?"

     "Yes?"

"So I only see three." Shivani informed.

"What!?" Stiles exclaimed in panic, pushing the mermaid aside to peer out the window. True to her words, there were only three werewolves left standing out on the street. "Shit, where's Isaac."

Literally just as Stiles said it, the said boy appeared behind them, grabbing both Stiles and Allison, throwing them aside. He turned around, grinning menacingly at Shivani.

"Your turn, little mermaid." Isaac went to pounce her, but before he could, she shot out her hand at him, freezing him instantly and turning him into a werewolf popsicle. He felt to the ground, only able to move his eyes.

Allison and Stiles shared a look before staring at the girl in shock.

     "Eh, oops I guess?"
