Backstory

There's not much to Charlie, he's Mikes older sibling and unlike Nancy he actually enjoys playing DND and hanging around the party. Because he's older he has some different friends, mostly closer with the high schoolers as in season one he'd be in grade 8.He got caught up in the upside down when he was at the Harrington party, even though he was younger he was invited by Nancy mostly to make Barb feel less left out. He was with Barb when she was killed however he didn't actually see her die because he was trying to find the others. He found Eleven when Mike was hiding her and that's when he really got involved, helping El and figuring out what happened with Will.

 In season two, he would be in high school (freshman) and he was more caught up with the Steve/Dustin storyline however after meeting Max he tried to get closer with her. (Reminder she's 13/14 and he's be about 14/15 it's not creepy). She started dating Lucas though and Charlie never really got over her but they'd still be friends. Charlie was with Steve, Dustin, Lucas and Max during the Demodog attack. 

In season 3, Charlie hangs around much more with the older group, though they're mostly in their last years, he's become friends with Robin and spends as much time with her as possible. He's always at scoops and even helps a bit with the Russian code as he also studies music and languages. He mostly convinces Erica to join them and when they're stuck in the elevator he's one of the level-headed ones (the only level headed one really) When they get captured, he's not happy to leave Steve and Robin but he's smart enough and skilled enough that he goes with Dustin and Erica to get them out through the vents. During the battle of Starcourt, he's not much of a fighter but his quick thinking and moderate first aid skills help El get patched up. He manages to help Lucas create a sort of weapon with the fireworks they stole and they work together to weaken the mind flayer. 

In season 4, he's with the Cali gang, mostly spending his time with Will because he felt bad about him third wheeling. Charlie and Will discover some similarities and talk a lot about figuring themselves out and when Charlie learns nobody remembered Wills birthday the day Mike got into town, he's determined to hunt at it until they remember. At Susie's, he helps with the plan, making sure everything goes smoothly [MORE WILL BE ADDED AFTER VOL. 2]

Some notes, He does have a crush on Max but obviously respects that Max is/was with Lucas. He does know Eddie but not well because he's not in hellfire. His parents don't know he's trans, and he's out to the people in Hawkins (Dustin, Mike, Nancy, Max, Lucas, Steve, Eddie and Robin) however El and Will both didn't know until the season 4 timeline, he probably would have came out after they left, around the end of season 3
