"Okay Melog" Catra said while putting the finishing touches on the pile of blankets & pillows she'd spread across the floor of their bedroom. "You just relax here & Adora will keep you company while I get your special treat for the day"

While Catra ran off to collect the surprise they'd had the Bright Moon staff put together, The guest of honor made themselves at home, circling around the assorted coverings before laying down with a contented purr which grew louder when Adora sat down allowing them to lay their head in her lap.

They might have actually gone to sleep there had Catra not returned carrying a large tray covered by a cloche. After sitting down, she shot Adora a look while clearing her throat. The blonde got the signal & on the Magicat's cue they began to sing...

"Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday dear Melog... Happy birthday to you!"

As the song ended Catra lifted a large cake covered in white frosting & topped with a cute picture of the three of them, with Melog in the middle while Catra & Adora each planted a kiss on the sides of their head.

Melog looked at the cake hungrily & opened their mouth to take a big bite before pausing & looking at Catra with a questioning look. They let out what to anyone else, including Adora, sounded like a series of growls but Catra understood perfectly.

"Well a birthday is when you gather on the anniversary of someone's birth & you throw them a celebration, usually with cake, to show them how much they mean to you"

More growling as Catra began cutting the cake.

"Yeah we figured that today wasn't your actual birthday but Adora" she made an affectionate gesture towards her girlfriend. " Look into Darla's... computer calendar of whatever it's called'

"The ship's log" Adora interjected with a teasing grin. "Come on Catra, that one's easy"

"Whatever" the Magicat declared with exaggerated annoyance. "As I was saying, Adora looked it up & today is the anniversary of us meeting on Krytis"

"And I thought that since we'd probably never figure out when you were born" Adora took over. "We could just take today & call it your birthday. That is if you want to, if you don't we understand an...'

The blonde was cut off by a gigantic lick to the face. Catra burst out into laughter while Adora began wiping at her face.

"Eww I think it went up my nose" she said through her own laughter. The laughter died down when Melog went into a longer series of growls & meows. By the time they were finished Catra had tears brimming in her eyes.

"What's wrong?" Adora sounded worried, had they done something wrong?

Wiping her eyes, Catra translated. "They said that this is the perfect day to celebrate their birthday because when they met us is when they started to live again" The tears were flowing freely as she finished.

With tears forming in her eyes as well, Adora pulled Melog into a wordless hug, which Catra moved to join in. Both she & Melog were purring & the usual etherial blue that made up the latter's mane & tail shifted to a translucent pink.

Catra was the first to pull back, again wiping at her eyes. "Come on, you saps. We should eat this cake before it gets stale. Melog which piece do you..."

The question died on her lips as a slice of cake began rising up off the tray before, without a hint of ceremony, flying straight into Melog's mouth. The two young women stared at each other for a second before bursting out into more laughter. They then took Melog into a hug, planting a kiss on each side of their head recreating the, now incomplete, picture on the cake.

Melog then began levitating another slice of cake causing Adora to cry out.

"Hey save us some will ya?"
