First, I want to thank you, the readers, for completing Ethereal! I hope this book brought you joy and hope! Second, I want to thank BTS for coming into my life at the perfect time!

I began this book on January 24, 2021 and completed it on April 28, 2021, which equals three months to complete a book of 91,664 words (omitting author notes). Writing this book helped me realize both my strengths and weaknesses as a writer. This is my first completed fanfiction and I am proud I was able to finish strong without veering into another idea.

And now... some behind-the-scenes and fun facts!

1.) The ending line of the final chapter came to me at 3 in the morning after writing the dinner party scene! It came into my mind like magic and I scrambled to find my phone to write it down before falling back asleep!

2.) The dream sequence is based on a dream I had in real life, omitting the hybrid parts, before I started writing Ethereal.

3.) I also planned on giving Taehyung a brief solo book called Oblivion to serve as an insight into his character and as a prequel of their life before escaping. But I decided to start adding in other POVs and was able to round out his character through that instead.

4.) In the original draft, Eden was supposed to turn into a hybrid and stay a hybrid. The storyline would have been extended by adjusting to her new life as a hybrid. This version would have forced them into either separating due to the law or find a caregiver for everybody which wouldn't work well. I wanted Eden to remain human to keep her responsibility as the caregiver and that's what I did! She was supposed to be a cat hybrid as well : ) You can see this original plan in her aesthetics board where a tabby cat is included in her photos!

5.) The songs that inspired me were many in number but still count: Sea, Serendipity, Home, Promise, Euphoria, Love Myself, Mikrokosmos, Snow Flower, Life Goes On, Save Me, Lie, Embarrassed/Blanket Kick specifically for Eden being so whipped for Jimin, 10,000 Hours, and Fix You.

6.) Throughout the entirety of the book, I had a section of notes at the bottom of the chapter to help me organize things better. These notes included Eden's To-Do list, lists of current injuries, the epilogue plan, and random lines I wanted to add in! The to-do list was so funny to me because, without context, it would look so strange. For the most part, it went something like this, "Avoid McDonald's at all costs, don't die, survive the dinner, confess love or smth, her car is stuck at McDonald's, fix Tae and Eden's relationship-deep talks, escape the cage".

The notes also had a list of the days so I could keep track of things! All of the events of this book (aside from the epilogue) happened in a week and a half, haha. I have a bad habit of forgetting to add random filler days to extend the time but oh well. Fast pace is how I like it anyway.

7.) It took me an abnormal amount of time deciding whose solo AU book to write first XD I am OT7 and whipped for everybody on a daily basis which makes it impossible for me to decide. The deciding factor was my first draft of Life Goes On which was supposed to be a Jimin solo (decided on a whim) and I wanted to expand on it. Life Goes On is no longer Jimin-focused because I changed my mind after rewriting it twice, haha.
