"Wow," Adelina said breathlessly taking in the lavish decorations as they entered the ballroom. "I've never seen so many roses in one place before."

Her eyes widened as she took in her surroundings. The walls were decorated in a creamy white silk. White and red roses littered the tables. Candles lit the ballroom  Figures danced around her and the walls flickered along with the candlelight. The swishing of elegant dresses could be heard around her as ladies twirled and dipped with their partners. As she inspected the beautiful scene that lay before her, she noticed that people's faces were covered by jeweled encrusted masque covering their faces.

"Was I supposed to have a mask like everyone else?" She inquired.

"Oh yes, let me grab you one." Falentine said as he strode over to a small table adorning lines of masque. Falentine picked up a white mask with delicate feathers and diamonds holding them in place. The mask itself was completely white and beautiful. "I think this one will fit perfectly, little angel." Falentine bends down gently putting the mask over her small face.

Adelina's mouth dropped in surprise. "What is your motive?"

"What do you mean, Adelina?" Falentine questioned.

"You are being nice to me. Something you aren't known for. I want to know what game you are playing here?"

"No game Adelina. I can be nice sometimes." A smirk spread across his face and Adelina felt a chill run through her body as she stared at him. "I need to go find my date. You are free to roam, but don't leave the ballroom unguarded. If for some reason you need to leave the ballroom, find Samuel, Charles or Frederick and they will escort you." He didn't wait for her to answer before he walked through the crowd and Adelina watched as they swallowed him up.

Adelina stood there a moment surveying the space. She finally began to edge her way along the wall to a quiet corner where she could gather her thoughts. There was a small group of people chatting by the corner, but they didn't seem to notice her as she leaned her small frame against the wall.

She studied the people around her as some chatted in small groups, tilting their head back animatedly to laugh at some joke that was told. Others would walk up and join in a conversation, shaking the hands of their comrades. As she stood there the crowd around her began to part as a figure walked through the crowd. surro

"Asmund?" Adelina questioned as he prowled up to where she stood.

"Shhh..it's a secret." He said bringing a finger up to her lips. She stood there a moment taking in the crisp suit he had on. He was completely dressed in black and the suit fit perfectly to all of his muscles and toned body. They stood there a moment staring into each other's eyes, not speaking a word.

"Lets dance." Asmund raised his hand out to Adelina. Adelina grabbed his hand and they made their way through the crowd. He stopped and placed his hand firmly on the small of her back, pulling her closely into him. She leaned her head into his chest and slowly they began to move together in a quiet unison.
As they danced and twirled, she found herself slowly forgetting the world around her and it became just the two of them in this room. They were two people who hadn't met in such dire circumstances, they were two people who fell in love without the death that surrounded them, and they were two people that could be happy. Adelina breathed in his scent, a woodsy scent that reminded her of the first rain before a snow.

"You smell wonderful."

"You always smell wonderful, Adelina." He dipped his head down into her neck and placed a soft gentle kiss onto the nape of her neck. A thousand tingles spread through her body and her legs began to wobble. Asmund grabbed onto her tightly, holding on to her. "I won't let you fall.

And for a moment longer he held her close to him. For a moment longer they were able to be happy. But only for a moment.

"Shall we begin our night's festivities." A voice boomed, startling Adelina back into reality. She followed the voice onto a stage where Falentine stood tall. The crowd cheered and the room shook as they clapped. "Lots of excitement in the air tonight. Let us begin then." Falentine nodded to the side of him and a few guards began to leave the room. Falentines eyes began to search the crowd slowly until they landed at the spot where Asmund and Adelina stood wrapped in each other's arms. "Brother, join Taavi and I up on stage will you? It is our big night." Asmund began to move away from Adelina and she sagged from the loss of his strong warm body pressed up against hers. "Ah, I think you are forgetting something." Falentine let out a tsk noise as Asmund turned back around towards Adelina.

"I'm sorry." He delicately whispered in her ear before grabbing her roughly around the wrist. Adelina fought with all the strength she could muster, but her strength was no match for him. She scratched and clawed at him until they stood before the stairs leading up to the stage.

"What are you doing?" Adelina screeched, slapping at his arm that was holding her.

"What I must." He stated through gritted teeth before picking her up over his shoulder and carrying her up the stairs. Adelina thrashed and kicked, leaving her body shaking in a rage. A few seconds later she was gently placed onto a chair. Adelina looked around in a panic noticing a door directly to her right. She picked herself up trying to make a quick jog towards it but was thrown back in the chair. Taavi and Falentine began to walk to her as Asmund held her delicate frame down to the chair.

"Bring us the doctor, please?" Falentine instructed one of the guards to his right, who swiftly exited the room and returned with Malora in tow and a bag to her right. "You know what to do. I want her awake, but not able to fight like she so loves doing. I wouldn't want her to miss any of the festivities I have planned for her tonight." Malora nodded and began to pull out a tiny bottle along with a syringe. She plunged the syringe into the fluid, letting it fill and made her way towards Adelina.

"Hold her still please." Malora instructed flatly as Asmunds grip tightened to a painful level.

"Why are you both doing this?" Adelina pleaded with them. "Why!!" She screamed trying with all her might to break his grip. "How can you do this to me? HOW!" Asmund flinched as she yelled the last words.

"What choice do I have." He whispered into her ear. "I hope you can forgive me one day." A prick was felt in her arm and a burn spread through her veins. The world around her started to spin and turn as she sat there. She tried to lift herself out of the seat, but her entire body became a puddle under her weight.

"What have you done.." she whispered. "what have you done?"

"Bring in our other guest of honor guards." Taavi instructed from one of the doors. Seconds later the door thudded open and three hooded figures were pushed into the room and thrown onto the floor.  Adelina's head lulled to the side as she followed the movements of the three until they were positioned directly in the middle of the stage alongside her.

The three brothers walked to the first hooded figure and stood behind before they pulled off the hood for everyone to view.

"The blood of a witch." The crowd cheered as the hood flew off.

Adelina felt bile rise up in her stomach as she saw the bruises and blood dripping off  the person head. She gasped as she studied the face and she realized who sat before her. The figure was one of her old teachers from the school in her village. Her head spun as she watched Ms. Hernandez cry from under the gag.

"The blood of a werewolf." Adelina felt her stomach clench as they removed the hood and their sat Aaron.

"Aaron.." Adelina gurgled out.

"Yeah I hear you two became fond of each other during your stay in the cells." Falentine laughed as the crowd jeered along with him. "But I think you'll enjoy my last surprise the most." Falentine said as his three brothers and him trailed down the line and halted in front of the last person. "The blood of an Angel whos heart is as black as midnight." Adelina felt her entire body go numb as he pulled off the hood.

"Tessa. Oh Tessa." Adelina cried out.

Tessa's body crumpled to the floor as Falentine kicked her from behind. Her beautiful face was littered in bruises and crusted blood. Tessa screamed incoherently  and began to rock back and forth.

"Sweet sweet Tessa. She betrayed everyone who ever loved her and somehow you still cry for her. She ran into the arms of the enemy and yet you still care. How sweet sisterly love is."

The brothers stalked in front to where Adelina sat in a haze.

"And finally we have the blood of a pure angel, the most precious thing in the world."

The three brothers bent down. Asmund grabbed Adelina's right wrist delicately in his hand as Taavi took her left one. Falentine grabbed the side of her head, letting his lips linger along the nape of her neck.

"We will be gentle." Falentine whispered into her ear. Adelina attempted to fight but a scream ripped through her throat as the flesh of her wrist and neck were torn apart. Her eyes began to water as she could feel the blood pump through her body. The pain began to subside shortly after as Adelina began to slide into a dreamlike oblivion. The world around her began to fall into the stars that shimmered around her.

Her body grew numb and darkness danced around her vision. She closed her eyes as she felt the three of them removed their teeth from her skin.

"Don't pass out on us just yet," she heard a voice say in her ear. "The fun is just beginning."
