I get that you wanna know the whole story. But in order to tell this story, I'll have to tell a previous one as well.

The Wave changed the human race. Thirty years ago, it gave people powers that were only in comic books or movies. They were dangerous though. I wasn't even born yet, but the stories my parents told me explained everything to me.

My parents were a pair of people with unexplainable powers. The reason they were unexplainable is because they didn't show any signs of them. But, we'll save that part for later.

I was born seventeen years ago. More people started to gain power around that time since they were offspring of the first generation. Even though their power was more contained, they were still a bit dangerous.

Since the government started to reform, hackers have gotten through their firewalls numerous times. Though luckily, they finally got it strong enough to where only tactical and elite hackers can get into their database.

    Sorry, this isn't about them or me. This is about the entire world... stopping in its tracks.

About a world that was on the brink of death.

About so many people dying to save it...

It all started around seven years ago, when my parents were murdered. I was just sitting outside, running around with one of my friends. I then heard a scream from inside the house and I'd told my friend to stay where they were. As I got inside, I was pinned to the floor as someone held me down by the neck. I looked to my parents who were tied up in a kneeling position.

Then, someone with a gun slowly pointed it at my mother's head as my father pleaded to shoot him in her place. Just then, the man shot my mother and then my father. I then blacked out, and when I was conscious once again, I was standing at the top of the hill beside our house. A bloody corpse was beneath my right foot and I quickly backed away.

I then slipped and rolled down the hill, tumbling down and almost hitting my head on a rock. Luckily I only his my left arm, bruising it. I then quickly sprang up from the ground and ran into the house, seeing everyone dead. I then ran to my parents, begging them to wake up.

    After around three hours of crying, I'd finally stood up and slowly dragged the attackers' bodies outside and buried them in the forest. Then, I walked back to the house and buried my parents in the backyard. I marked their graves with wooden crosses and then walked back inside to sleep.

    However, I looked at the clock to see it was 2:00. The same time my parents had died, and the sun hadn't moved a bit. I then shrugged it off and went to sleep.

    The Shifts kept happening. Every year, then every month, then every day... they wouldn't stop.

    The end of the world had finally come about a week ago. It was so much chaos and confusion. The government had to do something. So, they assembled a ragtag team of teenagers to fix it with me at the helm.

    I wish that I asked them to do it sooner, because when we were just getting started... everything else was ending.
