1451 AD
TENOCHITITLAN

There was blood being splattered, swords clanging, axes being swinged, buildings falling it was almost as if the world was ending.

Y/n ran in front of a sword that was about to cut through a young girls. The sword pierced her arm but at that moment all she cared about was getting the girl to safety.

She grabbed the girls arm and grabbed the sword from the man to stab him in his stomach as he fell of the horse.

She looked down at the girl. But the girl was too frightened to say anything. She looked lost, confused, scared.

"Y/N!" She heard ajak call from the distance. She couldn't just leave the girl there.

She motioned for the girl to run of into the woods but before she let her go she grabbed the sword from the man stomach and gave it to the the girl. At least she would have a weapon to protect herself.

With one last look the girl ran into the woods.

"Y/N!" She heard druig call this time.

She ran into the woods to be greeted by everyone standing there just watching the people fight to their deaths.

She knew they couldn't do anything. Ajak had told them many times so she just let it go and stood next to Thena as they waited for everyone else.

"Where is everyone else" Ajak asked noticing the cut on Y/Ns arm.

She went up to go heal it as Makkari signed to them.

"We had to split up" Makkari signed.

"There were more deviants than you said" Thena said to ajak

"Well I'm sure that was a lot of fun for you" Phastos said.

"It was" Thena smiled at him.

Phastos pulled out a hologram globe from the palm of his hand.

"Once the others kill these last deviants, we will have eliminated them all from the planet" He said.

Multiple gunshots were heard as they all looked back towards the people.

Druig walked up to the people. Slowly using his mind control to try and least stop them.

"Druig-" Y/n got cut of by ajak who walked up to him.

"Dont" she said behind him.

"We don't interfere in their wars" She continued.

"This isn't war. It's genocide. Their weapons have become too deadly." He said then turned back to Ajak.

"Maybe it wasn't such a good idea helping them advance, Phastos" He continued walking up to Phastos

"Technology is a part of their evolutionary process, Druig. It's not exactly something that I can stop" Phastos said.

"No you can't but I can" Druig said.

"He's right druig" Y/n said walking up to him.

"Phastos is right we can't stop their brains from becoming more intelligent and creating more weapons. That isn't something we can control." She said.

She knew he was hurt by seeing all of these people killing innocents.

But ajak was right their was nothing they could do.

It wasn't their fight.

"It's too late" They heard from behind them.

"Thena?" Sersi asked as she looked back at her.

"Everyone is going to die" Thena slowly said as her eyes glowed and her weapon appeared in her hand.

Thena swinged the staff and aimed it towards Sersi but Makkari was quick enough to move Sersi out of the way.

"Thena" Y/N yelled as Thena swung towards Phastos. She pushed him out of the way as the staff made a cut at Y/N stomach.

"Thena!" Ajak yelled.

As y/n clutched her stomach but stood up straight as Thena aimed the staff at Phastos again and blasted him to the floor.

Just then Makkari grabbed Thena by the neck and ran her away from the rest of them

Y/n ran over to Phastos as Ajak and Druig ran over to both of them.

"Ajak heal her" Druig looked down at the cut on Y/n cut as he tried to stop the bleeding.

"Get Thena away from Makkari" Y/n said frustrated as Ajak tried healing her cut.

But y/n couldn't stay still she was too busy trying to look over their shoulders to see if Makkari was ok.

"Ajak you go I'll try and get the bleeding to stop" Druig said putting his hands on the cut to stop the bleeding. The cut was large and deep.

"She got me good huh" Y/n chuckled and groaned.

"Don't talk it will only hurt more" Druig said still focusing on the cut.

Y/N She leaned her head back and looked at at Phastos .

"You ok?" She asked him.

"I'm fine" he said paying attention to her cut ignoring his own.

...

Thena stabbed Makkari in the stomach causing them to both fall on the floor.

Makkari groaned and touched the blood on her stomach looking back at Thena she was about to stab her again.

But instead Ajak stuck her hand out and stopped Thena.

The staff stabbed straight thought Ajaks hand and yet she made no sound.

Ajak stuck her hands out as they both glowed.

Thenas eyes started glowing as Ajak tried to calm her down.

"Don't listen to your head Thena, Listen to my voice" Ajack said and slowly walked up to Thena once her staff disappeared.

"Check on Ajak" Y/N kept on groaning.

"She's not the one bleeding out" Druig worriedly said to her.

"I don't care what kind of condition I am right now help pick me up" Y/N said and slowly stood up as she kept groaning.

"You should probably-" She cut Phastos off.

"Shut up and just help me up... please" She said as Druig and Phastos both helped her walk to where the others were.

"Y/N" Ajak said and rushed over to heal her cut immediately.

As the cut quickly healed gilgamesh finally was able to get ahold of Thena punching her to the floor.

...

"I thought Mahd Wy'ry was a myth" Sersi said staring at Thenas unconscious body.

"There is no cure...so no one really talks about it" Phastos said getting healed by Ajak.

Just then Thenas eyes shot open.

"What happened?" She spoke.

"Thena. You attacked everyone. Wounded Phastos, Sersi, You nearly killed both Makkari and Y/n." Ajak said to her.

Thena slowly got up and looked around.

"I don't remember" She looked at Ajak.

"You have Mahd Wy'ry. Your mind is fracturing under the weight of your memories. And all I can do is erase them so that you can start over. I will have to inform Arishem and take you back to the ship where we have technology to help you" Ajak said.

"But she won't be Thena anymore." Makkari signed to them

"Are you sure there is nothing else you could do?" Y/n said to Ajak.

"What if it happens again? She could've killed you two. She could've killed all of us" Kingo replied to them.

"Please" Thena said quietly to Ajak tears forming in her eyes.

"Please, I...I want to remember. I want to remember my life." She said worriedly to Ajak.

Worried she would lose all of her memories, worried she would lose everything.

Thena looked vulnerable, scared something Y/N has never seen from her she usually looks unbothered, tuff, strong, but not today,  Y/N considered Thena to be one of her closest friends it would be heart breaking if all memories of her was wiped from Thenas mind.

"Thena, I love you. But listen to me. It's not important if you remember or not. Your spirit will remain. You will always be Thena deep inside. Trust me. " Ajak said to her.

"Why should she trust you" Druig spoke up from beside Y/N.

Everyone turned to look at him.

"Your asking her to let you erase who she is." He continued.

"Druig, I know your upset, but..." Ajak was cut off.

"Upset?" He shouted at her.

"We've trust you for 7,000 years, and look where you've gotten us." He walked up to her.

Y/n knew druig was right he's been trying to convince her for years. But Ajak had already brain washed her into thinking she's the only one they can trust. As much as she wanted to side with Druig for some reason she knew she couldn't. She trusted Ajaks word.

"I've watched humans destroy each other when I could stop it all in a heartbeat. Do you know what that does to someone after centuries? Could our mission have been a mistake? Are we really helping these people built a better world, huh?" He turned back around and watched over the crowd of people.

"Druig." Y/n called and stood next to him.

"Druig this isn't our fight. We can't can do anyting no matter how much we want to" She said to him grabbing his shoulder to force him to look at her.

If she's being honest here a long time ago she did want to stop people she wanted to just change their minds and just say to stop fighting. So much so she went to Ajak go try and convince her too.

That was the day Ajak got help from Arishem he told her everything she needed to say.

But Ajak knew Druig wasn't gonna listen to her and so she thought if she got Y/N on her side Druig would follow along.

Boy was she wrong.

"We're just like the soldiers down there. Pawns to their leaders. Blinded by loyalty. It ends now" He said pulling his shoulder away from Y/Ns grip.

His eyes glowed and soon enough he was controlling everyone who was fighting. They all immediately dropped their weapons and turned to look at him.

"Let them go." Ikaris grabbed Druig by the shoulder and turned him around.

"Your gonna have to make me."" Druig said back.

Y/n was about to say something but once again was cut off by Ajak.

"Stop." She walked to up to them and looked at Ikaris as he gave Druig a look then stepped down.

"If you wanna stop me. Your gonna have to kill me" Druig said to Ajak.

"No" Y/n said and walked in front of Ajak.

"No one's killing anyone." She turned to look at Druig.

"Druig i know you care about these people I know but do you really think they want to live the rest of their lives being by controlled by someone? I know it's bad they fight I know it upsets you but controlling them isn't going to make things better" she practically begged him.

He looked at her then at Ajak.

Then he started walking towards the stairs

"Are you with me or her" He stopped and looked back at Y/N.

She stayed quiet. Druig knew her side. He just didn't want to believe it.

"Fine." Walking down a step he stopped again and said in a quiet voice.

"After centuries of being together you think you know someone" He scoffed and kept walking down the stairs with his head held up high as all the people starting following him.

"Wait-" Y/N almost ran to him. But was stopped by Ajak putting her hand on her wrist.

"It's better this way"  She whispered to her and led her away from the opening of the temple.

Druig looked back one last time. Leaving her was one of the hardest things he could do. He loved her and he knew she loved him.

But He had chose his side.

And she had chose hers.

"I'll watch over Thena. Let her keep her memories." Gilgamesh said. Y/n too upset to look Ajak in the eyes. She wanted to leave and go with him but she new she couldn't.

"One day, when she attacks you, you might have to kill her." Ajak told him.

"We'll take that chance." He continued and smiles at Thena. Thena looked at him gratefully.

"You may all go. The deviants are gone. There is no reason for you to stay with me." Ajak said to them all.

"Shouldn't you ask Arishem first? We're a team we should stay together."  Ikaris said to her.

"I didn't ask for your advice, Ikaris. Do not forget your place. This is where we say goodbye. You are free to go. I want you to go out there. And live a life for yourselves. Not as soldiers. Not with the purpose you were given. Find your own purpose. And one day when we see each other again, I want you to tell me what you found. " Ajak finished speaking.

Then everyone slowly started leaving the temple.

"You can come with us if you want" Sersi walked up to Y/N.

"No, I'll be fine" Y/N said staring at the outside of the temple.

Sersi nodded slowly and said "if you ever need anything come find me" then she walked away with sprite and Ikaris.

Sersi knew Y/n was hurting but she was stubborn so she would never admit it.

Once everybody had left she walked up to Ajak.

"This is all your fault" She said.  Ajak looked up at her.

"Your the reason he wanted to leave because you weren't a good enough leader neither was Arishem" She said. She wasn't sad she was just filled with anger.

"Arishem awarded you with the most special power. You should be grateful" Ajak said to her.

"Oh trust me the day you die I will be grateful" She scoffed and walked down the stairs of the temple.

But before she could fully leave she turned around one last time.

"They deserve to know" She said one last time walking down the stairs of the temple.

Once she got down she wanted to just find Druig but she knew he was upset and probably didn't even wanna see her.

So she left.

Thinking she would never see him again.

Until centuries later she would get a unexpected visit that would change everything.
