9 - Wonders

I feasted my eyes on the myriads of paintings, arts and sculptures displayed before me. There was something beautiful about witnessing them in real life rather than scanning them in books and computer screens.

Taehyung walked next to me, marveling at them as well. "Aren't they magnificent?"

"They are... I think I'm into arts now," I admitted under my breath.

"Welcome to my world," he chuckled. "I hope you enjoy your stay."

We spent hours together, just strolling around and looking at the exhibits and art pieces. He would sometimes act as my tour guide and explain each item in details.

Some of the other women who were there neared us by then and listened to him talk. Many were respectful, but few were attempting to flirt with him, disrupting not only our private time but the others as well.

"Wait, aren't you Kim Taehyung? The CEO of Viera conglomerate?" One of them suddenly gasped. The others followed and covered their mouths.

Is he that famous?

I didn't want to get involved in their commotion, so I quickly walked away from them and toured on my own.

For a while, I moved from one exhibit to another, trying to remember their details and meanings on my own, sometimes failing to do so and just studying them instead.

I stood next to an elderly woman who was wearing white sweater dress and had short curly hair. She suddenly turned to me with observant eyes.

"Were you with the CEO of Viera?"

The question took me by surprise but I still answered her.

"Yes?"

She furrowed her eyebrows. "Well... I know I'm being nosy right now, but may I ask how you know him?"

Another surprising question.

"We're classmates," I said under my breath.

"Former?"

"No... currently."

Her eyes widened and I figured that she became more confused. "He's a student now?"

"Yes."

I didn't know why but I was becoming more and more nervous. It felt like there was something wrong. Was I not supposed to give out information like that?

"I can't be mistaken," she whispered to herself lowly.

"What?" I tilted my head. "Mistaken about what?"

She cleared her throat before looking at me again. "I used to work at one of Viera's branch offices located abroad many years ago. At that time, he was the executive officer as well. And... he used to look just like how he does now..."

I didn't believe that.

"That's impossible... How can that be?"

She looked bewildered as well, her face frowning, causing even more wrinkles to appear on her tired face. "I don't know, either. But, my dear," she said as her eyes held me worriedly, "be wary whenever you're around him. He never showed anyone compassion nor kindness..."

Was she still talking about the same person? How can someone so warm be so cold towards everyone?

With that, she walked away from me and disappeared into the crowd.

I just stood there, her words lingering in my mind.

First that Snow White guy, and now an ex employee...

Kim Taehyung...

... Who exactly are you?

Just then a weight was placed on my left shoulder and I looked back to see Taehyung peeking at me.

Speak of the devil...

"Why did you leave me there," he pouted. "I looked all over for you..."

"Well, you seemed to be busy with your admirers," I coldly stated as I turned away before starting to walk further away, leaving him there.

"Are you... mad?"

I gulped. "No..?"

He ran after me and matched his footsteps with mine, staring at me. "Or are you... jealous?" He bit back his smile.

I scoffed. "As if I am. I could care less about women surrounding and fawning over you. It's not like it's my business and I'm not bothered about it or anything. You're not my boyfriend so it doesn't even concern me. Anyway, I am not jealous."

Amused by my sudden rant, he giggled before intertwining his hand with mine, causing me to jolt.

"What are you doing?" I asked flustered.

He didn't say anything and kept walking with a huge grin plastered on his stupid face.

"Let go." I tried pulling my hand from his tight grip, but my weak arm was failing me.

"Nope," he sang giddily.

I groaned softly, turning to frown at him, but he smiled back at me, his eyes forming crescent shapes, shining bright with sheer joy.

Internally, I was squealing. I was a blushing mess.

"You're cute," he cooed, his free hand pinching my cheek.

What the f-

I cannot handle this.

"Stop it. Just explain these paintings to me, Taehyung," I exclaimed and stomped towards one, trying to act pissed.

"Okay, cutie."

Ugh, my heart...

"Did you hear about the kidnapping?"

Evelyn sat next to me during break time and handed me a carton of strawberry milk.

"Don't worry, he woke up," she giggled.

I only stared at her dead in the eyes.

"Sorry." She cleared her throat and sipped from her milk.

"Are you going to your uncle's place today?" I asked her before taking a sip from mine.

She hummed. "Yep. Not that excited about it, though... Do you have any plans today?"

"Nope," I sighed. "I'm just gonna watch some k-drama or something."

"Rena!"

The class rep came up to me.

"Can you take these papers to the teachers' office if you're free?" She asked me, smiling sheepishly.

"Yeah, sure." I stood up before grabbing them and walked out of the classroom.

...

Coming back to my class, I saw Taehyung walking in my direction, but his eyes were staring out the window.

He was just walking but he looked so ethereal. And why was I being affected this much by just his presence?

I didn't understand.

I stopped when one of my classmates walked up to him and interlocked her arm with his.

"Hey, Taehyung," she said in a seductive tone. "Do you want to go watch a movie tonight?"

She pushed her chest onto his arm and I suddenly felt my blood boil at the sight. Was I being... jealous?

"Excuse me, but who are you?" He spat coldly with his rough voice, scowling at her.

"I-I'm Joohee. We're classmates? We-"

"Don't know, don't care, you're making me uncomfortable. Can you move?"

His glare sent shivers down my spine. I had never seen him like that before and it was... scary. He looked at her as if she was nothing. Nothing of value.

But then again, I was relieved when she pulled herself off from him.

His eyes met mine and a warm smile took over his features in the blink of an eye, and he fastened his pace, quickly walking towards me. He was practically running.

"Are you hungry? Want to go to the cafeteria?" He asked elated, holding my hands.

"The break's almost over, Tae." I couldn't help but smile. "Let's go back to our class."

He nodded cutely, pulling my heartstrings, and tugged my hands.

I stared at him with wonder.

Do I love you?
