17 - My fiancée
"Do you and Mr. Kim know each other?"
I flinched, abruptly stopping my paperwork before nervously looking at my colleague, Nana.
"Why?"
"He's been wandering around here way too much and kept stealing glances at you every now and then. Sometimes, he just blatantly stared at you."
My eyes darted around the hall while I thought of what to say.
I mean, an employee and the CEO being in a relationship? That would be the perfect target for a hot gossip.
"He seems to like you... Or," she drawled while narrowing her eyes at me suspiciously, "you two are already somehow involved with each other..."
Shit.
"I-I mean, we..."
I only looked at her with my mouth open, hoping for words to fly out on their own.
"Rena," the culprit suddenly called as he appeared out of nowhere and took quick steps towards me. "How are you doing so far? Is there anything you find uncomfortable?"
Oh my god, go away!
First at school, now here...
I laughed awkwardly under my breath. "I'm good. You don't have to worry about your employee, Mr. Kim," I said, giving emphasis on how our relationship should be at our workplace.
"Of course I would worry about my gir-"
I slapped my hands on his mouth, shutting him up before he could blurt out something unnecessary.
Nana's eyes almost popped out.
"Could you give us a moment," I laughed before dragging Taehyung to an empty hallway.
"What do you think you're doing?!"
He giggled before placing a kiss on my cheek.
"I wanted to be sweet to you every time I could get," he sang happily.
I wanted to coo at him, but I quickly shook off that thought and glared at him to reprimand him instead.
"This is a company! Such flirty, lovey dovey behavior is not acceptable here, especially between an employee and a boss," I snapped, gesturing between ourselves. "I don't want to be seen with you here."
He didn't seem to have listened to me as he pulled me into a hug all of a sudden.
"Taehyung," I groaned into his silky shirt.
"Shush and let me love you," he purred, snuggling into me.
I am unable to can-
"But, your workers-"
"They will soon work under you anyways. Why are you so flustered, honey?"
"I what?! Honey?!"
He hummed and snuggled more.
A man wearing a suit walked past, but not without his eyes glued on us.
"I understand already, so let me go now, please. People are watching us," I whispered.
"Okay." I sighed in relief but soon frowned when he said, "But only if you give me a kiss on the cheek and say 'Work well, honey~' with a sweet voice."
"Never," I hissed.
His hold around my waist tightened and he pulled me closer to himself.
"Fine," I exclaimed before kissing him quickly and gushing, "Work well, my dear."
He couldn't contain his excitement as his grin was fighting to break out, but he pursed his lips and let his eyes do the smiling. They sparkled and beamed, accentuating his baby features and tugging at my heartstrings.
Someone cleared her throat a few meters away from us.
A lady who seemed to be in her late forties, dressed in a coffee dress was watching us with amused eyes, her lips quivering as she fought back her smile.
"Mr. Kim. Pardon my interruption but you're being called for a meeting with Mr. Jung from HPW holding company. He asked you if he could have lunch with you."
She eyed me with great interest.
"Let me introduce you," Taehyung sang while slithering his arm around my waist, catching me off guard. "This is Rena. My beloved fiancée."
His what?!
"Since when did-"
"And this is my secretary, Anna. She acts like my mom all the time, but that's irrelevant."
She bowed at me and gave me a very warm smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss."
I bowed back, a little flustered. "I'm, too- I mean, me, too. How do you do."
She chuckled and my cheeks flushed.
"I've never seen Mr. Kim laugh or even smile my whole life. Thank you for making him happy, Rena."
I was surprised. She seemed to really care for him.
"But, Mr. Kim," she said, turning her eyes onto him, "you seem way too old for her."
I furrowed my eyebrows. "What do you mean? He's around the same age as me."
She widened her eyes at me. "What?" She turned to look at Taehyung. "He's been my boss for almost twenty years ever since he was eighteen. I-"
"Anna," Taehyung suddenly boomed, his expression turning serious. "Tell Mr. Jung that I'll be there for lunch."
She flinched a little before bowing and walking away, leaving us.
"Don't mind her words. She must be mistaking my father and I since I resemble him so much," he muttered, holding my hand to lead me back to my workplace. "I can't be with you for lunch today, but you can go to my restaurant right across the street and have lunch there."
"But I don't want to eat alone," I mumbled.
"Then take your colleague with you. Uh... what's her name?"
"Nana," I chuckled.
We arrived back and Nana stood up immediately after seeing Taehyung.
"So, Nana, you should accompany my fiancée, Rena for lunch," he ordered. "And don't worry about the payment, I'll tell my workers to serve you two everything you want with the highest respect."
Oh my...
"Y-Your fiancée?"
I opened my mouth to say something, but Taehyung beat me to it as he said, "Did I stutter or something?"
I made a face at him, but he smiled back at me and kissed my forehead.
"Wha-"
"I'll be leaving now, honey."
With that, he walked away, leaving me blushing.
"Oh my god... I have never seen Mr. Kim smile or even act nice towards anyone before," Nana whispered incredulously.
She then turned to look at me with a smirk.
"He's totally whipped for you."
