16 - Unexpected visitor
Another boring day passed just as quick as it started.
There were times when I would question if I really have to try... Whether my efforts would pay off or not in the end in every aspect of life.
If not, I wonder if I wasted my time criticizing, reprimanding and forcing myself to do my best... If my suffering was all for naught.
This was that time for me as all the students left their works untouched, chatting useless gossips with each other when almost thirty minutes passed since the teacher started talking on his phone.
My phone started ringing.
The teacher wasn't giving two shits for the class, so why should I do?
With that thought, I picked it up and my mother's voice spoke through the line.
"How are you, honey? We haven't talked for days since you last called."
My heart fluttered hearing her usual soft voice and I instantly smiled, my gloomy thoughts disappearing without a trace. Missing her and my father, I contemplated if I should visit them this weekend. The ride there from campus was seven hours long but my longing to see them seemed harder than a long exhausting trip.
"I'm fine. How are you two? Sorry for not calling lately, I was really busy with schoolwork and I just got a new j-" I bit my lips abruptly.
"A new what? Did the line get cut off?"
"Uh... I got a new... j... jewelry..." I trailed off. I didn't want them to worry over the fact that I was working while studying. "Anyway, school's been a really pain in the ass lately, I can't get enough rest to stay sane. Apart from that, everything's great."
"Honey, it's still not too late to change your profession," she said and I frowned. "Being a writer is very hard... Your father and I believe in your abilities, but we still think it's better for you to go with a different profession that offers stable job and salary. Maybe in your master's you can change it?"
I sighed deeply and started, "Mom. I don't-" before starting to cough harshly.
My throat was burning and its every muscle fiber was aching and straining as I kept coughing uncontrollably.
"Rena? Are you okay?"
After clearing my throat and ignoring the throbbing pain, I exclaimed, "Yes. Just coughing, that's all."
"That didn't sound like 'just' coughing. Did you catch a flu? Stop drinking cold water, wear warm clothes and-"
"Okay, mom," I cut her before she could rant for hours. "I'm fine. Don't go rapping on me now."
The teacher stopped talking on his phone and started picking up his belongings.
"Dismissed," he boomed before quickly running out the door, not sparing a single glance at the students.
The students dispersed and fled the scene straight away, cackling and laughing among themselves.
"By the way, mom," I spoke up before dropping the bomb.
"Hm?"
Should I tell her?
"I... um... I started dating someone not long ago," I mumbled, scratching my nape.
"What," she exclaimed, followed by a loud sigh. "Rena... that will only distract you from your studies..."
"Mom, I love him... He's not a distraction and I won't break up with him just so you know," I defended.
"What does he do?"
Here comes the interrogation...
"He's a CEO of a famous conglomerate," I murmured bored before shoving my belongings into my bag.
"Wait, what?! How did you two meet?!"
"We were in the same class back in high school."
I didn't tell her about our relationship back then or even mentioned him to her. If I did, she would have been strictly against it and I didn't want that.
"What? What's his name?"
"Look, mom, you can ask everything you want when I come and visit you this weekend. I'll ask him if he's free then," I said while walking through the hallway.
"You're coming?! Oh my gosh, that's wonderful," she cheered and I giggled. "I'll cook lots of meat for you. You must be eating takeouts instead of cooking, I assume."
Wow, how did she-
I slowly stopped on my tracks when I heard girls squealing near the entrance and saw many people hogging the windows to look outside.
Feeling curious, I walked up to them and peeked outside.
My eyes widened in horror.
There stood Taehyung wearing pastel pink colored suit and a floral shirt, looking so lavish and ethereal, I nearly choked on air. His hair was elegantly styled, making him look even more dreamy if that was possible.
"Yeah, p-please do... M-Mom, I'm hanging up now."
He was standing next to his black Bugatti and just fumbling with his phone but looked like he was doing a photoshoot.
He brought his phone up against his ear and scanned the crowd with his other hand in his pocket.
Well, this is... a sight you don't get to see everyday...
I almost had a heart attack when my phone started ringing. With a huff, I looked at the caller ID.
Unknown number is calling...
I picked up and said, "Hello?" My eyes were glued to Taehyung again.
He suddenly grinned, a drastic change from his previous expression. The girls squealed louder and I stepped a little backwards from the raging crowd.
"Did your classes finish?" Taehyung's voice sang through the line at the same time he moved his mouth.
"What the- How did you find my number?"
"From my employee, of course," he giggled and my heart did flips. "Are you free now? If you are, can you come out? I just came to your university to pick you up."
My mouth hung open and heat started rushing up to my cheeks.
"W-W-Why? I live on campus, t-there's no need," I stammered while blinking.
"Silly," he chuckled, "I'm picking you up for our date."
What?!
"Come on out, my love."
With that, he hung up, leaving me more flustered than ever. I was definitely a blushing mess because of him.
If I went out right now, everyone would know that I was dating the very owner of Viera, a handsome rich dude, and some would probably hate or bash me for it.
Taking a deep breath, I walked out the door and towards the man who beamed as soon as he saw me.
I was anxious, knowing that hundreds of people were watching us right now.
But he didn't care at all.
Running towards me, he picked me up before spinning around, giggling. His laugh was the sweetest melody ever. And contagious as I started laughing as well.
After placing me down, he kissed my cheek and pulled me into a loose hug, gazing into my eyes.
I blushed and mumbled, "There's a whole crowd watching us, Tae."
"So?" He cocked an eyebrow, still smiling, and kissed my forehead. "Let them see. I want to show everyone in this world just how happy I am to be with you."
My heart might explode at this point.
"S-So, where are we going?"
He took my hand and led me to his car.
"We're going sightseeing. But before that, let's have a lunch. I bet you're hungry after all that studying."
"I'm no-" My stomach roared, shutting me up.
"Okay..."
