10 - Happy

I rummaged my locker, trying to find my math notebook but with no luck. I remembered that I left it at home because I didn't finish my homework.

I hit my head against the lockers, sighing. "I should just say that my dog ate it," I mumbled under my breath. "Wait, I don't have a dog... Should I just own up to it?"

I suddenly heard a low chuckle from behind me.

"What happened, Rena?" Taehyung placed his head against the lockers, facing me at my eye level with a smile. "Forgot your notebook?"

I hummed and booped his nose. "Should I lie or nah?"

He pulled me towards himself by my waist while chuckling and kissed my forehead, causing my cheeks to flush.

"There are people here," I stammered, feeling flustered but giddy.

"I know," he said before kissing my cheek this time.

This man will be the death of me...

"You didn't even answer my question, Tae," I whined and slipped out of his hold to close my locker. "We should go to our class now. Lesson's about to start."

His smile was still there when he was staring at me like I was the most beautiful person in this world.

I shook my head before grabbing his hand and dragging him to our class. "Stop staring at me, please. You know how I feel when you do that."

He shrugged. "I can't help it... You're just too beautiful to not stare at."

"Gosh."

It has been a few days since Taehyung and I started dating, but I still couldn't get used to him openly showing affections even though they made me beyond happy every time.

I couldn't even believe it when he confessed to me, when I realized that he returned my feelings. Ever since then, every single moment, I was overflowing with ecstasy.

I didn't know if I could be this happy...

"Okay, class," the teacher yelled as she started handing out papers. "It's time to write down what you want to do in the future. Write your goals and dreams on these papers. It's your last year of high school, so this is very important."

My future...

My parents always wanted me to become a lawyer or something of the sort. But I didn't want that... I wanted to become a writer. Someone who creates her own world, who lets others see everything through her own eyes and helps them escape the mundane reality of their lives.

It would be nice if I could become one.

After a while, the teacher collected all the papers and started going through them.

She suddenly sighed out loud. "Joohee!"

"Yes?"

"This must be a joke now..." she mumbled before looking at her sternly. "Why did you write this kind of a thing? Do it again."

"Whaat? I don't wanna. What's wrong with it?"

The teacher pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed again. "'I want to be married to a rich and handsome guy like Kim Taehyung'... I asked for you to write what you wanted to be in the future, Joohee."

What the heck?

"So?" She asked her back with one of her eyebrows raised. "I'm gonna be a rich housewife and not work my butt off like you."

The students started laughing at that and one of them even shouted, "I want a sugar daddy, too!"

"Joohee, come to my office later today," the teacher demanded before walking out of the class with the papers in her hands.

The said girl groaned and kicked her table in frustration.

"Want to go stargazing today?"

I took a huge bite from my burrito just before dying from hunger.

"Suv," I said with my mouth full. "Wef af fe goif?"

He wiped my mouth while chuckling. "I was thinking we could go to my house. The rooftop has an amazing view, perfect for stargazing."

My heart suddenly started drumming against my chest and I scolded myself for getting excited when he invited me to his place.

I nodded. "That sounds nice."

After having our lunch, we arrived at his mansion by his car and I suddenly felt broke, standing before the enormous building.

He led me up to the rooftop where there were a small garden and a hammock in the center. The sky was already getting darker and I rubbed my arms as it was getting cold outside.

After making me sit on the hammock, he went downstairs again and came back with a blanket.

I chuckled when he lied down next to me and patted on his shoulder, telling me to put my head on it. I obliged and did as told. He then covered the both of us with the thick blanket, instantly warming me up.

I snuggled up to him, breathing in his comforting scent, his musky cologne mingled with the fragrant aroma of various flowers. I was already getting sleepy. His smell was intoxicating.

"Do you live here alone?" I slurred.

He hummed while playing with the strands of my hair.

"It must be lonely then..."

He sighed softly, his breath fanning my face. "Not really... I've become accustomed to being alone. Gotta accept my fate, after all."

"Fate?"

"My unfortunate fate..." he murmured. "Everyone leaves me, everything goes. I am left alone with just their memories, but they eventually fade away in time as well. There's no use crying, mourning after them. The only thing I can do is accept my fate and live on even if it hurts. Because the pain also dies down as time goes by."

My sleepiness got forgotten by his words and I looked up into his eyes as he turned to look at me.

"I'll be with you, Tae, and I won't leave you."

He smiled softly and placed a gentle kiss on my forehead before nuzzling his nose with mine.

"I love you, Rena... More than anything in this world. If you're here with me, I can live on forever. Just because you're here."

My heart started racing when he leaned towards me with his eyes closed. The world seemed to have stopped. My focus was only on him as he moved towards me painfully slowly.

Our lips gently grazed against each other and he drew a deep, shuddering breath before leaning in further.

Before I could properly feel him against my lips, his phone suddenly rang inside his pocket.

Cursing under his breath, he pulled away to answer it while I quickly turned away from him to cup my cheeks in embarrassment.

Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh! We almost kissed!

I tried calming down my beating heart and fanned my face to cool it down a little.

"Yes?" He spoke with a rough voice into his phone.

When I turned to look at him as he suddenly got silent, my embarrassment was suddenly forgotten.

Snapping out of his daze, he cleared his throat before speaking again.

"Okay. I'll see you at our usual place," he mumbled and ended the call.

"What happened?" I asked him worried.

He stood up and grabbed my hand before walking to the door.

"I'm sorry, Rena. A sudden work just came up. I'll drive you home."

I knew something like this was going to happen. I was too happy these days.

"Oh. It's fine." I smiled at him. "You don't have to apologize for that. I'll see you tomorrow."

His face became grim.

"Yeah... tomorrow..."
