Chapter 1 | Japan

~Arabella's POV~

I looked up.

Flight 27 boarding: Japan.

"Come on, Arabella. You too, Daniel." my mother said as we stood in the airport, about to board a plane to Japan.

Daniel, my younger brother, rolled his eyes. He was about two years younger than me. "Mom, why are we moving to Japan, again? Why can't we stay in America? Our lives are there!"

Mom sighed. "I've explained this several times over already: we're moving because of my job and we all need a change. And I think Japan is going to be really good for us, don't you, Arabella?" She looked at me.

I shrugged. "It seems fine to me." I said.

Daniel glared. "She only thinks it's fine because she has no life! And no friends! She couldn't care less if we stayed or left!" he protested.

"Daniel! That's not nice! Apologize to your sister right now!" Mom said.

Daniel rolled his eyes again before reluctantly turning to me. "Sorry." he said.

He didn't mean it.

"Whatever. I don't care," I said. "I get that I have no life or friends. Thanks for stating the obvious, Einstein."

Mom looked at me. "Arabella..."

I sighed. "Sorry, Daniel..." I said.

I didn't mean it.

Soon, we eventually boarded our plane.

I'm Arabella Hashimoto, I'm sixteen years old and, as you've just heard, I have no life or friends.

And, my brother was right; I couldn't care less if we stayed in America or if we left. Either way, my life sucks.

It's something I've accepted by now.

We found our plane seats and took them.

Eventually, the plane took off.

I pulled out my iPod and my earbuds and started listening to music.

I wonder what my new school will be like...

One thing I know about it for sure is that it's a private school.

My mother is sending me to a private school, or Ouran Academy to be specific.

Unfortunately, it's September right now so we're already somewhat into the school year, so I'll have to transfer after the school year started.

I have (not to brag) pretty excellent grades in school (mainly because I have no friends or things like that to distract me), so I got into Ouran on an honor student's scholarship.

I'm not rich or anything like that, so that's all I could get in on.

When I took my entrance exam and passed it "with flying colors", as Mom said, I was actually pretty proud of myself.

My brother took the entrance exam as well, but he didn't get in. So, he's going to Ouran Public instead. It's basically just like Ouran Academy, only it's a public school and you don't have to be rich or smart or have an amazing and impressive talent to go there.

I fell under the second category.

After I had listened to my entire Playlist, I exited out of my iPod and turned it off. After that, I basically just slept through most of the flight. I had to get up at times to use the bathroom and stuff, but other than that I mostly slept.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I felt someone shake me.
"Arabella, sweetie, it's time to wake up now... We're here..."
I slowly opened my eyes to see my mom standing next to my seat.
I sat up. "What time is it?" I asked.
"It's time to get off the plane now, Daniel is waiting for us inside the airport." Mom said.
I slowly got up and stretched. Then, I shoved my iPod and my phone in my purse and exited the plane with Mom.
When we got inside the airport, Daniel was, indeed, waiting for us.
"Finally you guys are here. Now, don't we have to get our stuff?" Daniel said.
"I told you kids, we don't have to get our stuff because all our things are in the moving van. I called and they told us they should arrive at our new house about an hour after we get there." Mom explained again.
Daniel and I nodded.
After that, we called a cab and gave them the directions to our new house.
They drove us there.
We've never actually SEEN our new house before, Mom wanted it to be a surprise when we see it.
Mom smiled excitedly as we got ready to get out of the cab. "Oooh...! I can't wait for you to see it!" she said.
Then, Mom paid the cab driver and we got out of the cab.
"Okay, close your eyes...!" Mom said. Daniel and I closed our eyes.
"No peeking...! Not yet...!" Mom said. Then I felt someone grab my arm and lead me.
Then, someone made me stop in place. "Okay... Open!" I heard Mom say. Then I opened my eyes.
"Wow..." I said as I looked up at my new home.
It was decent. It was actually a bit bigger than our old house, it looked pretty classy too.
I knew for a fact that we weren't rich, yet Mom was able to do pretty good.
"Woah...! It's... It's huge...!" Daniel gaped.
"Yeah, compared to our old house, it's pretty big." I said.
Daniel jumped up and down excitedly. "I call first dibs on picking a room!" he said before he raced up the house's front steps.
"Hey! I'm the oldest! I get first dibs...!" I shouted as I ran after him. Mom walked after us.
Mom unlocked the door with a key she had and let us in.
The inside looked even better than the outside.
"Woah! It's beautiful!" I said as I looked around. The ceilings were pretty high too.
"You can say that again...!" Daniel said. Then, he raced up the stairs. "Gotta go pick my room!"
"Wait up...!" I called before I ran upstairs after him.
When we got upstairs, we saw that there were three bathrooms (the master bathroom and two half bathrooms) and four rooms (a master bedroom, two regular-sized bedrooms, and a game room).
Since I knew the master bedroom and bathroom were probably Mom's, I immediately zoomed into the room I thought looked the second biggest, even though the last two bedrooms looked about the same size.
When I got into my new room, I looked around.
Hm... It had a bay window with a sitting area and overall the room was a pretty decent size... I can work with this...
Now all I have to do is wait for the moving truck to get here so I can unload my junk and start decorating my new room like how my old room looked.
I put my hands on my hips and smiled a bit.
Things might actually turn out alright in this new room for me. In fact, this new house might work out alright as well.
At least this house takes away a little bit of the suckyness of a move.
Now all I need to do is hope I have a decent chance at surviving being the new kid at a snooty private school...
That should go well...
Not.
