1. New Beginnings
💫
When Aurora was 9 years old she met a women named Jenna. She was a college student in her final year. She gave her the name Rory.
A year later she was known as Rory Sommers. She lived with her mom in a 2 bedroom apartment while her mom got her master's degree in physiology.
She lived there until 8 years later her mom got a call from her lawyer saying her sister and brother in law had died and she was now the legal guardian of her niece and nephew.
The two packed up their things and left for Mystic Falls and stay in their family home adjusting over the summer to their new normal life.
💫
"Rory! Jenna says you need to wake up." Jeremy Gilbert said walking into his cousin's room to see her deep asleep. He smiled as an idea pops into his head and approached the bed. He reached his hand to her shoulder when her hand caught his, which caused him to jump in fear.
"What do you think you're doing?" She asked
"What the fuck?" He asked as she let go of his wrist.
"You're the one who tried to smother me in my sleep." She defended as she sat up
"I wasn't going to smother- you know what. Jenna wants you awake and ready for school." He said
"And you couldn't have just said that?" She asked and got out of bed
"Go." She hurried him away.
Aurora sighed as she walked to her closet to find clothes. She was starting school. Her senior year, she was supposed to be doing it all online but she wanted to make sure her cousins were alright, she needed to be responsible.
She groaned at the thought and put the clothes on her bed and went for a shower.

Rory's outfit
💫
Rory made her way downstairs and walked into the kitchen
"Toast. I can make toast." Her mom said
"It's all about the coffee, Aunt Jenna." Her cousin Elena replied as she poured a cup of coffee
"Is there coffee?" Jeremy asked as he took the cup from his sister's hand.
"Your first day of school and I'm totally unprepared," Jenna said as she walked past her daughter while giving her a kiss on the cheek and went looking through her bag, "lunch money?" She held up money
"I'm okay." Elena said while Jeremy gladly took the money.
"Anything else? A number two pencil? What am I missing?" She asked
"Don't you have a big presentation today?" Rory asked and her mom checked her watch
"I'm meeting with my thesis advisor at...now. Crap." She sighed.
"Then go. We'll be fine." Elena said and Jenna rushed off
"You okay?" She asked her brother
"Don't start." He dismissed and walked away.
"How are you?" Rory asked
"I'm better." She sighed and Rory took her hand
"If you need anything, you know where to find me." She fake smiled and Elena smiled.
"Oh, by the way is it okay if Bonnie gave me a ride to school as well?" Rory asked
"I'm sure she wouldn't have a problem with it. She missed you." Elena said
"Thanks, it just that-"
"You're 18 years old and you don't have a license?" She guessed and Rory rolled her eyes.
"Okay, 3 things. 1, my old school was in walking distance from the apartment. 2, I will get my license... eventually and 3," there was a moment of silence before Bonnie beeped the horn "shut up, there she is." Rory said and Elena laughed as they walked outside.
Bonnie got out of the car and ran up to Rory
"I missed you so much!" She gleamed
"I missed you too." Rory said.
When it was the summer, Rory would go to Mystic Falls and spend time with her aunt and uncle. She also would hang out with Elena and her friends since making friends wasn't the easiest.
"Right, let's go." Bonnie said and they all got in the car.
💫
"So Grams is telling me I'm psychic. Our ancestors were from Salem, witches and all that, I know, crazy, but she's going on and on about it, and I'm like, 'put this woman in a home already!' But then I started thinking, I predicted Obama and I predicted Heath Ledger, and I still think Florida will break off and turn into little resort islands...Elena! Back in the car." Bonnie spoke louder to get Elena's attention.
"I did it again, didn't I? I--I'm sorry, Bonnie. You were telling me that..." Elena trailed off
"That she's psychic now." Rory said and Bonnie smiled
"Right. Okay, then predict something. About me." Elena told her and Bonnie smiled
"I see..." Suddenly a bird crashed into the windshield.
"What was that?! Oh, my god! Elena, are you okay?" Bonnie asked
"It's okay. I'm fine." Elena said
"It was like a bird or something. It came out of nowhere." Bonnie said.
"Really, I can't be freaked out by cars for the rest of my life." Elena said
"I predict this year is going to be kick ass. And I predict all the sad and dark times are over and you are going to be beyond happy." Bonnie said and Elena smiled.
💫
Rory, Bonnie and Elena walked down the hall to Elena's locker
"Major lack of male real estate. Look at the shower curtain on Kelly Beech. She looks like a hot — can I still say 'tr*nny mess'?" Bonnie asked
"No, that's over." Elena said
"I don't think it was ever not over. Or a thing" Rory said.
"Ahh, find a man, coin a phrase. It's a busy year." Bonnie said and then remained quiet and Rory and Elena turned to see Matt at his locker. Elena waved at him only to get ignored
"He hates me." She said
"That's not hate. That's 'you dumped me, but I'm too cool to show it, but secretly I'm listening to Air Supply's greatest hits.'" Bonnie said
"I still can't believe you dated him." Rory shook her head in disappointment.
"Elena. Oh, my god." Caroline Forbes ran up to her and hugged her
"How are you? Oh, it's so good to see you. How is she? Is she good?" She asked Bonnie
"Caroline, I'm right here. And I'm fine. Thank you." Elena said.
"Really?" She asked
"Yes. Much better." Elena said
"Oh, you poor thing." She hugged her one more time then she turned to Rory.
"I cannot believe you're here!" She squealed and hugged her
"Oh god." Rory muttered
"I'm officially friends with a senior. How does it feel?" She asked
"Totes amazing." Rory said with fake enthusiasm as Elena and Bonnie smiled
"Oh! Okay, see you guys later?" Caroline said
"Okay! Bye!" Elena fake smiled as she walked off.
"No comment. I'm not going to say anything." Elena said
"Yeah, I don't think I can either." Rory said
"'Totes amazing?' What was that?" Bonnie asked.
"I don't even know at this point." She groaned.
💫
They walked past the school office when Bonnie stopped them
"Hold up. Who's this?" Bonnie asked
"All I see is back." Elena dismissed not seeing the appeal
"It's a hot back." Bonnie said and Elena chuckled.
"Why are you looking at his back. I'm looking at his ass." Rory said.
"I'm sensing Seattle, and he plays the guitar." Bonnie said
"You're really going to run this whole psychic thing into the ground, huh?" Elena asked
"Pretty much." Bonnie shrugged.
"Jeremy, good batch, man." They heard a boy say
"I'll be right back." Elena said
"Do I need to go with you?" Rory asked.
"No, it's fine. I can handle it." Elena said and Rory nodded
"I'm gonna get to class early." She said to Bonnie
"Have fun, miss senior."
"I'm sure I won't."
💫
The day went thankfully quickly for Rory and she was now at her job at the Mystic Grill, she walked up to Bonnie and Caroline to hand them their drinks
"His name is Stefan Salvatore. He lives with uncle up at the old Salvatore Boarding House. He hasn't lived here since he was a kid. Military family, so they moved around a lot. He's a Gemini, and his favourite colour is blue." Caroline told Bonnie.
"You got all of that in one day?" Bonnie asked shocked and impressed
"Oh, please, I got all that between third and fourth period. We're planning a June wedding." Caroline said
"Well, if it's an open bar wedding, sign me up." Rory said and they all laughed.
"Are you staying tonight?" Bonnie asked
"Absolutely not. That was my last order, I now get to clock out and crash on the couch. See you tomorrow." Rory said and walked away.
💫
Jenna was sitting on the couch when Rory came in and flopped onto the couch with her head on her mother's lap.
"Long day?"
"Long life." Rory groaned as her mother brushed through her hair.
"I'm meeting Bonnie at the grill." Elena said
"Okay, have fun. Wait, I got this. Don't stay out late, it's a school night." Jenna said
"Well done, Aunt Jenna." She said.
"You sure you don't want to go?" Elena asked her cousin
"I have never been more sure." Rory groaned and they both laughed
"Okay." She said and left.
