Context: An AU where humans and Steves hate each other, and are currently at war. However, Sabre and Rainbow are friends in secret, and plan to betray both sides and run off with their most important weapons; each side's End Crystal.

The small, vine-buried clearing sat undisturbed in the middle of a dense forest. The vines made walls and a roof around the clearing, so nobody could get inside.

Unless, of course, someone knew about the two's secret trapdoors.

The left trapdoor, marked with the insignia of the humans, flew open as Sabre excitedly climbed out of the passageway laughing. The trapdoor slammed shut behind him as he lost his balance and tumbled onto the grass. He was covered in soot and had a few smoldering spots on his clothes, his blindfold starting to slip off his face because of the chaos he had caused in the humans' HQ.

Soon after, Rainbow followed in the same way, bursting out of the right trapdoor that had the insignia of the Steves carved into it. He was covered in various colors of glitter, and coughed out some of the shiny particles as he laughed.

They both rolled into each other and came to a stop in the center of the clearing, still cackling. After a few minutes, they both calm down and help each other up.

"Oh, man." Sabre says, taking a breath. "That was the coolest explosion I've ever caused. The whole strategy planning table blew up! And the room!"

"Told you all that gunpowder would work." Rainbow says, placing his hands on his knees as he caught his breath. "And that 'glitter' stuff you gave me? It. Was. EVERYWHERE. The Yellow Leader got a face full of it when the little cannon exploded!"

"Ohh, I hope it got in his eyes." Sabre says, starting to wipe off the soot, and extinguished a tiny flame in his hair.

"Dude, I'd be surprised if it didn't. When I say a face full, I mean he got a face full. He was practically sticking his face into the cannon!" Rainbow smiles, attempting to get glitter off his clothes.

"Buddy, you ain't getting that out of your clothes anytime soon, trust me." Sabre says, noticing Rainbow struggling to get the glitter off. "You might as well burn those."

"Aw man, this is my favorite shirt..." Rainbow sighs. "Worth it though. How long will the glitter stay in the Steves' HQ?"

"Forever, man."

"Forever?"

"Swear on my life, that stuff's gonna keep getting found until that building gets demolished. And even then, it'll still be found in the area."

"Really?"

"Chief, it was 50 pounds of glitter. Really."

Rainbow laughs again, ruffling Sabre's hair (which causes a lot of soot to fall out). Sabre grins as he does the same to his best friend, ending up with glitter stuck to his hand. Oh well.

The two friends sat down in the clearing and recounted the events of the dual sabotage. It was Rainbow's idea to do so; Both of their own people had done awful things to them, which is why they were so excited to ruin their plans, or for their future plan... which was coming closer to happening.

"Can't believe we're almost home free already." Sabre says, staring at the ground. "In just two weeks, we're doing our final heist. Then, we're outta here."

"And we'll head to the Far Lands, just like you said!" Rainbow grinned. "With my powers, I could probably make a base there that'll pretty much just look like a normal base! And we could gather stuff when we need to!"

"Didn't you say you'd need the Orange Crystal in order to do that?" Sabre asked.

"Weeeellll..." Rainbow says with a mischievous side eye, reaching into his pocket.

He pulls out a large, glimmering crystal, the same bright sunrise color as his eyes.

"I got Gerald to hand me a little something."

"No way!" Sabre exclaims, staring at the crystal. "You actually got it!"

"I told you Gerald is useful." Rainbow says with a smirk. "He's not just any really smart pig."

"Yeah, he's coming with us when he bail." Sabre smiles.

Sabre remembers something, and reaches into his pocket as well.

"I actually got something too..." Sabre giggles, making Rainbow's interest piqued.

Sabre shows an advanced technological device, showing a few options for basic commands and queries.

"Is that the humans' Admin Core?!" Rainbow says, shocked.

"Yep! Snatched it while everyone was too occupied with the explosion!" Sabre says happily. "This is basically cheat codes at life, I can give us anything with this! We probably won't even need to scavenge for stuff once you build that base!"

"So we're just- set for life?! This is awesome!" Rainbow says, hugging Sabre. "Thank you!"

"Nah, thank you, man." Sabre smiles, returning the hug. "If you never dragged me in here, I would still be a war tool for the other humans. Think of this as a thank you."

"Heh, and if I never found you, I'd still be the other Steves' bioweapon." Rainbow says, releasing his friend. "I'm glad we crossed paths when we did, Sabre."

"Me too, Rainbow." Sabre replies. "It's too bad that the people in this life are such jerks. We just have to hold out until our time is up, and then we'll be in a much nicer world."

"Hopefully." Rainbow chuckles. "I really miss the nice Steves. The ones here... yeesh."

"You said it."

The duo suddenly hears voices from outside the walls of vines, and quickly stash away their thieved prizes. They then scramble back to the trapdoors, smiling at each other before they go back to the tunnels.

"Seeya later, skittle dork." Sabre grins.

"Seeya, chicken man." Rainbow grins back.

With that, the trapdoors close again, and it's as if they were never there.
