This song to moving on!
Aashna's pov:
It's been a week since the wedding news and my life is totally back on track.
I don't skip my walks, or my meals, or my gym sessions or even any of my yoga or swimming or table tennis or cycling sessions. In fact, I'm trying to keep myself as occupied as I can physically.
The more I work, the more at peace I feel. The more I exercise, the more like myself I feel. But that constant blurred self discussion about him in the back of my mind does not go away.
No matter whatever work I'm into, I always dote upon the countless unconquered possibilities. The infinite hypothetical situations which could've led me to marry him.
I was at work, inside my office, when my assistant came in and handed me a box parcel.
I unpacked it and my eyes sparkled to see a wedding card box.
It has to be that.
So I opened it and....there it was...list of all the functions, all the family names, names of the bride and groom and their parents.
Wow.
I'm not that excited to attend their wedding but I have this unsaid desire to be able to see Shubman again.
Maybe seeing him in a wedding sherwani will help my dreams at night.
My parents are constantly bugging me for getting married, sending me pictures of boys that I leave on read or not even that.
There are a few boys who, tbh looked a lot better than Shubman....but the heart wants what it wants ig?
Right now, I have to focus on how to look like the hot ex. But...maybe it's a formality. So I'm thinking of texting Shubman to check if he really wants me there without being considerate at all.
Text:
Hey shubman.
He texts back in literally 1 minute.
Hey Aashna.
How are you?
I'm fine, thanks.
I just wanted to confirm that did you by any chance send me your wedding invite by mistake?
Why would you think that?
I mean, no...I'd love it if you can come.
Really?👀
Yeah, we'll get a chance to catch up as well, been a while hasn't it?
You're right! Thank you, I'll be attending your wedding.
🥰
.
.
.
Uhh, why did he have to send such a misleading emoji?
Anyways, so I'll be going.
The wedding is at the end of this month. I'm definitely putting my prettiest lehengas to alter and iron.
Show him what he'll be missing out.
My phone rings and I pick up without looking at the caller id.
"Aa rhi he na tu??" Shahneel di's voice came out as a boom.
"Oh my god di, you scared me!" I said touching my chest.
"Sorry sorry, ab bta aa rhi he na?" She said so fast.
"Haan I'm coming....but aap itni jaldi me kyu ho?" I asked her.
"Thank you Shona, bas itna hi confirm karna tha!" And she hung up.
I've been noticing that for a past few days, everyone is behaving a bit wierdly and sneaky, but how does it even matter when I'm literally out of the picture.
I ignore their shenanigans and refocus in my laptop.
.
.
.
As I came home, bear jumped on me nearly knocking me over.
He's grown so strong and big and...like a man with a child's brain.
Idk why Shubman came to my mind on this.
I've reached a point when I can freely think of Shubman without having to feel sad all the time.
I've come to terms with our breakup.
Or well atleast I believe that I have.
It does get hard but I manage to get a whole night's sleep without crying. Although my heart feels heavy.
Today, I texted him so freely because he keeps checking up on Bear every once in a while and I send him pictures. We keep intracting because of my baby.
We have been maintaining a respectful bridge between us and I hope to keep it that way but in the future, if his wife doesn't want us keeping any kind of contact, then it will be fine. I mean I would be a problem if I saw my husband chatting with their ex.
So I understand.
I think it'll be lowkey fun to attend his wedding. But I'm a bit scared if I saw him and all my feelings came back....what will I do then?
Not even thinking about this topic.

Shubman's pov:
Today mom and di are making a list of guests that we have to invite.
Everyone is busy as hell. I don't even know why we're rushing it? It could've been done after the world cup too.
Di knows about all my famous people interactions so she knows who to invite. That is why I'm taking no interest in the preparation.
Sara keeps bugging me every day by sending me pictures of our clothes and TBH, I can't be less interested.
I'm not taking part in any of the food tastings, the cloth alterations, deciding anything that concerns the wedding.
I'm just focusing on the world cup that will begin in two months. We have to win!
I came out of the shower after gym wearing my towel and found di sitting on my bed and scrolling through her phone.
She side eyed me and pretended to gag while I covered my nipples playfully making her gag more.
I went inside my closet to wear underwear and shorts and came back outside to ask her what she wants.
"Shubhi, mujhe yeh pucchna tha ki Aashna ko invite karna he ki nhi?" She said.
"Kya keh rhi he? Usko kitna hurt hoga, me nhi chahta ki usko aur hurt ho, she must already be hurting." I said.
"Esa kuchh nhi he, she was hurt once, but now she's getting back on track. And it seems like you....are going off tracks." She said.
"How do you know?" I asked her.
"I mean you never....talk to anyone, you're always quiet, and I hate to see stress circles under your eyes." Di said.
"That's because of the world cup!" I said.
"Uh huh!" She said.
"But di, how do you know about Aashna?" I asked her, curious to know more about her.
"We talk...yk?" She said.
"Tell me more." I laid in bed beside her letting her caress my head.
"She was sad for a long time....but then she saw your roka post and decided that she had to move on." She said, an immediate painful lump forming in my throat.
"Is it selfish to wish that she shouldn't move on?" I asked her almost choking up.
"Yes Shubhi, you loved her, and you moved on in like a week. So why not her?" She said.
"Wrong di, I still love her, and 2 weeks, and it wasn't even moving on TBH, it was an accident!" I told her.
"What?!" She said.
"I went to a club because I drink to calm my sorrows.....and I don't know how much I drank, and she was there....and the next morning I just.....woke up beside her!" I told her.
"But...why did you continue? If you slept with her by mistake?" She asked me.
"Because I was drunk most of the time? And apparently we went to the same club daily where I used to get shitfaced. And the next thing I knew, I was getting married to her!!" I said.
"This is bizarre!" She said.
"This is shit!" I said.
"And I feel like shit all the fucking time nowdays di!" I said.
"Why? What happened?" She asked me.
"I miss my Aashu....all the fucking time." I said squishing my face in the mattress to avoid her seeing my in case tears.
"And?" She asked.
"And I hate Sara now that I'm sober, not that I loved her when I wasn't, but yk!" I said, my voice choking up didn't go unnoticed by her.
"Shubhi! Stop crying babu! Chalo! Get up!" She said trying to pull me up.
"I'm not crying di!" I said.
"Come on Shubhi! Let's do one thing! Let's invite Aashna, take our chance, and if nothing happens, then atleast you'll get to see her." She said.
"It hurts me!" I said.
"Get over it Shubhi, that day you said that you are 32 years old and can take your own decisions, might as well take some good ones!" She said.
"We are inviting her, that's it!" She said and somewhere, in my heart, I deeply wish that she comes.

Aashna's pov:
Finally, the day has come when I finally land on Mumbai Airport.
His wedding is in 4 days. It's not that extended function for an Indian wedding.
Tomorrow is mehendi and sangeet, day after tomorrow is haldi and bachelor's and the wedding is the next day.
Free and gone for once? Sure!
But painful enough? Very!
I wear my sunglasses as my driver drives to the venue.
Bear starts to breathe with his tongue out on seeing the crowd and I comfort him.
We reach the venue and as said, I find Shahneel di standing alongside Ishan and Aditi with a garland of flowers in her hand and as soon as she sees me, she puts the garland around my neck and hugs me tightly.
"Aa gyi hamari saviour!" Ishan said.
"What?" I said.
"Kuchh nhi Aashu! Ishan to pagal he! Tu chal hamare saath." Aditi pulled me inside and Ishan starts to follow.
"Ishan ji? Aap aashu ke bags leke aaiye!" She turned sharply and Ishan turned without a second thought.
"Arey me kar lungi, aap log please-"
"No formality Aashna!" Shahneel di said.
We found khushpreet and Abhishek walking out of the hotel and they stopped when they saw me.
"Oyeee, BHABHI aa gyi!!" Khushpreet said loudly making me blush a little.
"Who's the bhabhi here?" I said making everyone laugh.
"Abhay, Jugnu kahan jaa rhe ho?" Di asked them.
"Kucch kaam tha di..." they said.
"Ek banda jayega! Jugnu get lost! Abhay, you'll come with us!" Shahneel di ordered them.
Abhay nodded and started to walk beside me.
"Hi Aashna." He whispered.
"Hi Abhishek!" I smiled at him sweetly.
"So...how have you been?" He said.
"Fine! How are you?" I asked him back.
"I'm good, it feels really good to see you here yk?" He said.
"Same Abhishek!" I said.
"Please call me Abhay! Abhishek is too formal!" He said with his dinples and all.
"Yeah sure!...Abhay." I said.
We entered the elevator to our floor after taking my key card.
My eyes are searching for one person in the whole area....
"Is floor par hamara, di ka, aur Abhay ka room he, and a few more friends and team members, no old people, so you should be fine!" Aditi told me.
"Kya hua Aashna? You seem really quiet! Is everything OK?" Shahneel di asks me.
"Yeah.....I'll open up, just give me time. I just need to sleep it off." I said.
"Yeah, you must be tired from the jet lag right?" Abhay said.
"You're right!" I murmured and as we get out if the lift, we saw Ishan getting out from the other side's lift.
"Wow, you came really fast!" Shahneel di said.
"Ask me about it!" Aditi said.
"Oh my god!"
"Shit dirty talks!"
Me and Abhay said at the same time and before laughing out.
I saw Bear huffing again and I urged to hurry inside the room.
"Accha, Adi and di! I need to discuss something, Abhay can you help Aashna with her room?" Ishan said.
"Of course, shall we?" He bowed a bit and extended his hand like a gentleman and I gladly took it.
We walked hand in hand to my room which the staff unlocked and settled my stuff into.
I closed my door shut soon after and turn on the AC and give Bear some water.
"Aashna calm down, you need to sit and relax too." Abhay said.
He said as I started panicking a bit while blowing on Bear's face and got a bit dizzy while standing up.
It always happens after I blow.
Abhay came to my side and held my waist as I blacked out for a second.
I held his shoulders tightly and regained my balance.
"God your hands are so cold, are you ok?" He probably felt through his thin shirt.
"Yeah, I'm sorry my BP drops after travelling for too long. Happens all the time!" I said to him and let go of him.
"Your hands are literally shaking, are you alright?" He starts to rub one of my hands in his own. And makes me sit on the bed and gets me water.
"Thank you Abhay, that's really kind!" I said.
He smiled and nodded.
"I think I just needs to rest, I'll be fine!" I said.
"Ok then, you have your room, make sure you get enough sleep!" He walks to the door and I follow him but he turns and raises his eyebrows.
"Where are you going ma'am?" He said.
"Just dropping you outside?" I said.
He walks out of the door and turns back at me.
"Alright, now don't drop yourself!" He said making me laugh and hit his shoulder but he held my hand very delicately and delivers a softest kiss to my knuckles while bowing down a bit.
"And if do still manage to collapse, then I'll be at your service!" He said making me blush a bit.
I was unable to say anything so he took off leaving me standing at my door sweetly surprised.
I recover in a second and as I was turning inside, I saw Shubman standing in the balcony.
Seeing him after so long with literally not even daily video calls made my stomach and smile drop.
We kept standing in the aisle staring at each other for a while when he finally decided to step forward with a small smile tugging at his lips.
I smiled myself on seeing him.
"You're here?" He asked in disbelief.
"Yeah....should I not be...?" I said hesitantly.
"NO, No, no, you should totally be here!" He said quickly.
"So....how have you been?" He asked me.
"Uhh fine, i guess?" I said.
"What about you?" I asked him.
"Yeah, fine too." He said.
"Congratulations on the wedding, it was unexpected but great news!" I said to him.
"Hmm....yeah...unexpected for me as well." He said.
"What?" He was about to say something when we heard his name being called.
"Shubhuu, let's go, we're gonna get late!" Sara came to his side and interlocked her hand within his. He stiffened a bit and stopped himself from making a face.
I know his facial reactions, I can tell when he's annoyed, and he looks lile it now.
"Oh my god, I almost didn't see you there! Hii!" Sara said and hugged me.
I hugged her back briefly and stepped back.
"TBH, I was dying to meet you!" She said.
"Can't say the same...." I murmured and apparently Shubman heard it and stiffled a snicker.
"So I think I should just rest and you guys should probably head to.....wherever you were." I said.
"Are you comfortable?" Sara asked.
"Yeah! I got help!" I said.
"You know who helped her? Abhay!" Shubman said.
"Oh yeah! Abhay, he's a great guy!" I said, playing his game.
"You two seem comfy!" He said.
"We just met and....I think we just bonded, I mean he helped me settle. And I was literally about to pass out! He held on to me!" I said.
This seems fun. Let's enter the arcade Shubman Gill.
"Oh wow! I guess we should go! Chalein Sara?" He said and I happily waved them goodbye.
Third pov:
Shahneel had heard jealousy sometimes brings two people closer, so she played her shot.
She left Aashna with Abhay. And left with Ishan and Aditi herself.
They both seem to just get along.
It was a great way of making her brother jealous. Who always got jealous a little too easily.
They stood on the door, with Ishan peeping inside through the peephole and shahneel sticking her ear to the door.
They heard footsteps coming towards the door and the three of them scattered away like caught rats.
The door opened to reveal Abhay and Aashna. And Shubman who was walking towards the lift saw them.
He squinted his eyes at the sight.
But seeing Aashna after so long spiked his feelings.
However, it was evident that Abhishek was trying to flirt and she took it for a kind gesture.
Shubman couldn't help but clench his fist in anger and jealousy when he saw Abhishek peck her delicate hand.
And she didn't even pull away.
'You also slept with someone else idiot!' A voice inside his head said.
He took a deep breath to contain himself.
After Abhay went away, they both finally locked eyes after what felt like an eternity.
It was like time stopped, before he knew what he was doing, Shubman started to walk slowly towards Aashna making them break the eye contact when she looked down.
What made Shubman go dry was the way they were talking. Like nothing ever took place between them. Like they were meeting the first time after they met on that airport and these 2 years was a big illusion.
But it was more real than any fucking thing Shubman had ever felt.
Aashna hugged Sara as if Shubman wasn't willing to die for her if needed.
Didn't she knew they were gonna get married, how was it so normal for her? When Shubman was internally bleeding and it was evident on his physical body. Constant stress crease on his forehead, dark circles, and the sighs and huffs he took regularly to keep getting through shit.
Aashna seemed fine. So it's true? Had she moved on? She was a good pretender, Shubman knew that.
She had decided to play along in the jealousy race. So Shubman didn't step back.
He guided himself and Sara towards the elevator and got rid of her hand around his own the second they stepped in. Making a face of disgust.
AUTHOR'S RANT: lovies, I'm back!
What do you guys think? The wedding will happen or not? Place your bets.
Ik you guys think it's not OK to forgive him but the story is based on a human life, humans make mistakes and learn from it. And everyone deserves a second chance.
Shubman is not the bad guy, he is just confused and hazy.
