"Preparations"

How fragile we are. Compared to these colossal creatures, we are a tiny grain of salt. How are we going to win a battle against something so powerful? I keep asking myself this over and over again, and I keep finding no answer to it.

I have been resting most of the past two days since I woke up, and we are preparing to move to a new location. I am confident on what my mother and father think is best, and if what the Angels say is true, then we are the magnets for the next attacks. So moving far from our people and other races is going to be a good way to prevent more casualties or damages.

The Council was invited to come, and most of them refused to. Dad was not surprised when the Fire, Earth and Wind Elementals, together with the Fallen and Dark Angels decided to come. Water Elementals are more pacific and avoid any kind of confrontations, just like the Wind ones, but Aeolus was emotionally invested, having his daughter helping Aeneas who was the first volunteer. The mythical creatures opted not to participate either.

I am not sure I am ready to face so many different creatures and races; usually, Ian is my emotional balance, his powers of control would help, but he has his own emotions to deal with now, and I wouldn't dare to suggest him to do anything but that. Xavier is coming with us, with Dana and Zana, who wouldn't leave his side.

We are leaving Carl in charge of the pack, and he is not alone, as Ebony and Ivory are going to stay with him. Carl is always quiet but he doesn't let anything escape his watchful eyes. He will be paying close attention to everything that happens around the pack lands and will let us know if problem arises.

Of course, uncle Gideon and aunt Agape are coming, they were not going to let their daughters come unless they did. And I think we will be ready to form a new town with the number of creatures joining us in this new place we are moving to.

*Seth*

I watch her rest, although she is doing anything but rest. She is thinking about many things and her mind becomes a niche of Incredibles theories and amazing train of thoughts. I become more surprise about her race and her as I study her.

Then I remind myself of how much I can explore of her, and I force myself to stop. Father told me about respecting boundaries, and even though we never set those between her and me, I know she wouldn't want me to get into her mind.

Wolves are creatures of immense power, and yet she believes to be so helpless. Of them all, she has the most confusing yet powerful abilities that I could have sense, ever. We have discussed them with mother and father, and we still can not understand what exactly are these abilities she possesses. Whatever they are, they are dangerous; without knowledge, she can use them but those same abilities can drain her life away. I shiver with the thought of something like that happening to her, and I refuse to let her use them again until we know more.

*Carl*

"And here you will find the controls of the cameras that..."

"...that will show me the status of the city's headquarters... There I can talk to uncle Craig and aunt Bella that were left there to supervise... I know... I am your second in command, Xavier, I am not a newbie," I sigh as I say this to my Alpha and friend.

He takes a deep breath and nods. "I know, and I am sorry. I just don't like the idea of leaving all of this to you. I mean... I trust you, but..."

"Hey, I understand, you feel like this is your responsibility. But if their theory proves to be right, you would be putting us all in danger by staying here..." I remind him for the ninth time.

He rolls his eyes at me and then chuckles. "You sure want to get rid of me, don't you."

I laugh and nudge his head. "Yeah, is not working."

We both start to laugh and then head outside, where the last group that is heading to the new location is waiting. I smile at mom and dad as they come to give me a hug; I love how much they trust me, they barely said anything about the dangers and the risks of their trip or my new position as temporary Alpha, they just gave me their support and encouraging words. I couldn't have asked the Goddess for better parents.

Our people stand to the sides of the path, waving for our Alpha King and his family to leave. As they finally start to leave towards the edge of the pack lands, we howl our support and our love to them.

*Meadow*

We finally reach unclaimed lands and we shift to move faster. Our small pack moves as one as Caleb and I run side by side towards our new destination. The Angels don't have trouble to catch our speed, as their feet seem to float and their bodies move effortlessly in the same direction as ours. They will never cease to amaze me.

'Aeneas should be there already with the other races, we will meet them shortly at this speed,' Caleb sends to me and I nod back.

I feel my children close to us and that makes me relax; I wouldn't be able to fight this if I didn't have them near me. And yet, I feel guilty somehow, for not being able to protect them all the way. Perhaps I should have raised them with the humans, a normal life, without any powers awakening in them.

I need to be strong for them, and I need to show them that everything will be fine, but I am having trouble believing it myself.

'Have faith, my princess... my queen... have faith in what we can do... We are not alone, we will make things happen... for us, and for them... and more importantly...' He says as we run and he makes eye contact with me. 'Because I haven't finished showing you how much I love you...'

And I smile. How can't I? He has always been my rock and the ground I set foot on. 'I love you,' I send back to him, leaning closer to him as we keep running.

*Caleb*

We finally leave the trees behind and enter the area chosen to be our defensive land. I spot Aeneas in the center, who grins widely as he sees us arrive.

All of us slow our pace, catching our breaths, and I take the time to admire the location and what Alex and Cara did with it; It is almost as wide as our pack lands, with rocky slopes on a side and two waterfalls on them. There is a small stream that splits the land in two, and they built cabins on both sides of it. The rustic area has everything needed, so I mentally pat them both in their backs for a job well done.

"There you are, you big-headed pet," Aeneas teases me and I huff as I shift. "Here, I got you all these to feel more comfortable," He says as he throws me a jacket to cover myself. I can't help but laugh.

"What's wrong with the way I am dressed? When did you become such a prude?" I tease him back, as I know Zareen will enjoy making him suffer a bit too.

He laughs and then shakes my hand after I pass the clothes to the rest of the pack and put my other arm around Meadow. "You know I am not surprised by little things..." He teases me back and I want to laugh at the same time I want to punch him. "But our guests might be..." He reminds me at the same time of the others.

I nod at him and I see them watching us; they are curious and a bit nervous, at the same time as they are excited.

I nod at them as well, and they bow their heads in a sign of mutual respect. My mental count is correct; Blayze, Durga and Aeolus are here, and I see Zareen is standing next to her father. Fardoragh is watching us too, he nods briefly and is accompanied by two other Dark Angels. Taylar, on the other hand, came alone. The distrust between them is not so obvious but is there.

"Welcome, all. Thank you for joining us. Let's settle ourselves down in our proper places, and after that, we will have a meeting to discuss everything," I say and everyone nods in agreement.

I think the chances for our victory are growing by the second, there has never been a union like this before, and the power residing in each of us should scare any creature that wants to threaten our universe, away.
