"A step closer to the Truth"

I can feel his eyes behind me, he is watching me closely. But right now, I am focused on checking my brother. At least, I pretend to be.

"Sol, I already told you I am fine. I was up and running in no time... you on the other hand... damn it, why did you have to..." He hushes as my father gives him a look.

I sigh and lay back on the chair. "You know your sister did that to help, and you are up and running because of her... you should be thankful..." Dad says in a tone that doesn't leave anything behind, it is clear he is stating he wants Ian to apologize.

"I am sorry..." I quickly say as I don't want him to get into trouble.

"No, dad is right. I am sorry... I know you always take care of us, like a big sister... and we are the ones who should take care of you..." Ian adds quickly.

Xavier is watching and listening closely, Dana and Zana are next to him just listening. His eyes are locked on Seth who doesn't seem to care. Ebony is looking ok as he watches us next to Ivory, Both are quiet but attentive.

"So, what is exactly what happened?" Dad finally asks. "And I want all of your versions, together..."

This is not a simple question, but when dad asks, we have to reply. Ian sighs and goes first. "I have been having weird dreams, pretty much for weeks now, where I feel observed. And after I wake up, the feeling doesn't go away, it intensifies..." He looks down before continuing. "I tried to ignore it, but the heavier the dreams became, the more it affected me. And well, Sol obviously as well..."

"Xavier was worried too, we all felt you like this, only that I could almost dream the same dreams you had... We wanted to help..." I added quickly and Xavier nodded.

"We asked him the day before your arrival, what was going on, he finally admitted having these dreams and this sensation invading him. Sol offered help, which we refused of course... And Ian wanted to wait for your arrival." Xavier completed my thoughts.

"So what happened that morning, son?" Dad asks Ian.

"I had this strange dream, but it felt different... I was running and couldn't stop from it. I was getting tired, but I couldn't even fall. I woke up sweating and immediately noticed something strange in my room..." He says and I remember what I saw, the void that consumed light, the eyes that seemed to glow. "I saw this dark mass that started to expand, and I panicked. When Ebony broke into the window, something came through, like a long arm, and it pushed him out with an intense force. I was shocked..."

I look at Ebony and apologize. "So sorry for sending you there like that..."

He shakes his head. "Princess, we did what we were here for... and I am glad I got there in time..."

I sigh and nod. Ian agrees with him as well. "Yeah, I think he distracted whatever was in that dark mass because it hesitated. Then I felt Sol taking over me, and after that, well, you know..."

Dad nods and looks at mom, they look worried. "Seth, do you think we can get your father here soon?" He asks to him.

Seth nods. "I will let him know now."

Dad smiles and takes mom's hand. "One of the theories we are now considering is about the possibility that our new enemies are not from this realm. We were suggested by a new source of information, that the origin can be from one of the many universes that co-exist with this one. A parallel one. In other words, another dimension."

My eyes widen and I look at mom who looks at me back. But dad continues. "What you saw, Ian... could perfectly match that theory... and I think we should call in the person who provided us with it."

Everyone in the room seems tense, but I am more than that, I am scared. It is Seth's voice that brings my attention. "They will be here tonight. They will bring him."

"Who is 'him'?" I ask, looking directly at Seth.

He looks back at me and nods. "The source of this new theory, he knows more but hasn't revealed yet," He then turns to look at mom. "My mother suggests you inform us all about who he is..."

My interest spikes, as I can sense the importance of this new informer. I look at mom and she looks a bit nervous, but she nods at Seth and then looks at us. "Well, the first time I had contact with him was over twenty years ago..."

*Seth*

I watch everyone's reaction and they all look worried. The angels are upset but confused as well, and I can see why. Lucifer is not a creature our people look forward to encounter. His power is immense, but his behavior is as erratic as his nature.

But when I look at my Asteria, I lose focus myself. I can see the aura of all the wolves and they are different from the humans, but her aura glows in a way that becomes a beam of light that can be seen from miles. Whatever she did to help her brothers in the past, is something yet to be understood. I have to be careful with her. I need yet to understand her and her world. I don't know why mother told me to be so careful, but I think our interference in their world will unbalance things.

How much unbalanced can it be, though? This new threat is already altering everything. So far, I have learned that these creatures are powerful and so interesting to study. I hope we can discover what it is affecting them and us, and why has it targeted Ian now. Are these two events tied together? Is this the same thing that is attacking all other races? Is it even an attack, or an event caused by the intersection of the two realms?

I sit close to her, my beam of light, because is the only place I feel comfortable. I am not scared of them, but I don't understand them. I hope she doesn't feel uncomfortable with this.

*Ian*

I don't understand how my parents trust in this guy so fast. Yeah, he is the son of the big Angels. However, he's still unknown to us. And he is suddenly accepted as Sol's mate? No questions asked?

I don't understand Angels, and I don't think we should trust them completely. Their motivations are unknown. The only one who I think we can trust is the female leader because she was once human.

Now that we are waiting for their arrival, the pack's lands are becoming crowded. I know in the past we had other creatures here, I heard the stories. I heard all about those battles and what happened. But our pack has lived free from the outside intervention for all this time, a safe haven, that now is being disturbed.

My father is watching me, he knows I am not happy about them coming, but after what we witnessed, what else can we do? I hope their presence here is worth it. I crave a good night's rest.

Maybe I am overthinking this, I should calm down, I am too agitated as their presence starts to be felt. They are powerful because there is a thickening of the environment around us. I don't understand how they do this, but I feel them. 'Can you feel it?' I hear Sol's voice.

I nod and feel Xavier's nod. He is at the Command Center with his girls. 'They are powerful, and we need to be careful,' I reply.

'Don't do anything... dumb, you can control yourself... they are here to help...' Xavier says and I chuckle, he really is trying to control more the way he says things. He is growing up.

I look again at Sol and she is focused on the distant trees, where they will soon cross into our territory. I look at the distance as well, and something grows inside of me, something that makes me worry more. No, I don't feel like before, not like when whatever was stalking me and observing was happening. I feel different, like my heart is pumping faster and is excited but I don't know why.

An Angel lands suddenly in front of us. It's the old protector, Raziel, who watched over mom all these years. He looks at us with wide eyes and searches for mom. "We have a situation..."

Mom and dad rush to him and both me and Sol are quick to follow. "What is happening, Raziel? Where are they? Why did they stop?"

He looks straight at me and I feel my heart pace faster and harder. What is happening? Mom and dad look at me as well and then at him. Dad is the one who speaks first. "Cut it, Raziel... spill it out, I have no patience..."

Raziel looks back at him and nods. "The fallen one... he seems to be..." He stops, and I feel like I can't breathe. What is happening with the fallen one?! "We believe the cycle has found closure. The one predicted decades ago... He has found his Asteria... and he is between you..."

Could this get worse? Is not enough that we have to host Angels we don't know, now one of them is mating another one from our pack? "What do you mean by 'he'..." dad's voice brings me back to the situation.

Raziel speaks with a small frown. "For us, genres are nothing but a detail... and yes, I said correctly... 'he' is here... I suggest we reorganize this meeting..."

I turn around with frustration, but I can't seem to move further. I can't move at all, something has me locked in my spot.

Dad turns around and signals the other pack members to pull back and mom asks the two angels to leave as well. It is only us, and Sol's mate, here.

Raziel looks back at me and it pisses me off. But the next words that come out from his mouth, leave me speechless. "Lucifer's Asteria is one of your sons. Ian's mate," And that's when I turn into my wolf and start to run.
