It has been three months since she had last seen Nick, Samuel, and her family. One day she decided to go home. But when she had returned she saw a lot of people looked like they were preparing for a war of some sort. She hurried to her mom's house and asked what was going on "There will be a war between the wolves and us." her mom explained. 'No... So, everyone knew about them but me?! Not all of them are bad!' she thought to herself. She went back to her normal routine but without Nick. She knew deep down she did the right thing, but the war had made her worry about him very much. She went out to go buy groceries for her family but when she got home she saw her mother at the table looking at a piece of paper. "What is that you got in your hand mom?" she asked. Her mother looked at her and held it out, showing the bounty of Nick "Did you know about this?" Her mother asked sternly. Penelope took a deep breath and said "Yes I did. Why do you ask?" her mother looked at her in fear as she said "Are you nuts?! He could've killed you!" "No, he wouldn't have! He's the nicest man I have ever met! The most kind... caring... weirdest man! have ever met and I don't regret a single second of it mother!" she exclaimed.

What she had said was true. She didn't regret a single second of her time with Nick. In fact, she enjoyed his company. "If you know of his whereabouts you need to tell the hunters or the army or someone!" her mother exclaimed. Penelope had never in her life felt so much anger towards her mother. "NO! Even if I did I wouldn't give him up to anyone! I'd rather die than tell!" she screamed as she slammed the groceries down on the table and stormed out. This was the very first time she had ever felt so much anger towards her mother AND screamed at her.

'That was the first... But no way in hell I'll do that to him! Not in my lifetime!' she thought to herself. She saw the man named Gene as he walked up to her "So why did you lie to Nicole about Nick?" he asked. She looked down then looked back at him and said "Because I'm not like him and humans don't really belong in werewolf's life's... I guess I did it out of the kindness out of my heart and what I thought was best." Gene stared at her shocked he heard that out of a human like her. Gene sighed and softly said "You are right about that, but I could've" she stopped him there. "No, Humans and werewolves can't mix... As much as it pains me to say it, but it is the truth." she took a deep breath and said, "You should go before you get caught." Gene slowly nodded and headed back to the camp.
