Chapter 38
Blank. I was completely blank while I gazed at him while he refused to. Although his diverted gaze was clearly to keep me from taking a look but the agony was so strongly visible that I saw it in a glance even when he was quick at averting it.
I felt like I was given a blow and it made me stagger that I had to clutch the closest thing I could see even if it was a wall. The blood drained from my face and I was gaping at the man who was standing like a stone figure with his emotions all schooled up to look indifferent and not like he'd just revealed something that could shake one up.
His eyes however were a totally in strangest land, there was a frenzy in them and mine were wide in shock at the revelation. I gasped and without any probing, his words kept replaying in my mind like a broken record.
His father. He said that my Jerdy is his father. Jerdy is Mia's and Gabriel's father... The person who's been like a guardian angel to me, was and is there for me every step of the way is in fact the father of this one person who has started being the world to me.
A murderer... Is that what Gabriel called him?
"No!" I said, scoffing. There is something wrong. This is definitely a bad dream I need to wake up from. His eyes shot from the ground to me at my reaction. Of all the conclusions I was coming to, this was nowhere close to what I could ever think of.
"This is wrong" I mumbled, raking my hand through my hair. What does he even mean, Jerdy cannot swat a fly and he is classifying him as a murderer. I clenched my eyes shut, thinking about everything that a span of few days had put forth.
Not only was the idea of him being Gabriel's father was enough that he had to add in another label.
This can't be true, I kept nudging myself. Out of all the things, Jerdy being a father to Gabriel was last that my mind could've gone to and least of all to what he is accusing him of.
"He... Jerdy is your father" I asked still in disbelief, just wanting him to reaffirm it to me over and over again. My limbs felt like they were locked, my eyes were wide and I was stupefied.
His eyes assessed my reaction and he instantly came closer to me looking at my lost state and gently kneeled in front of me as he guided me to take a seat at the bench that I hadn't noticed before.
When I looked at him, I saw that his guards were down and he was just gazing at me with so much vulnerability when he nodded, I gulped and shook my head. I inhaled a sharp breath, clenching my eyes shut. He collected my icy hands in his and gave them a gentle squeeze.
I realized how bad it was hurting him for his face was contorted in pain but I couldn't tell whether it was the news of him disclosing Jerdy as his father to me was the source of hurt or the shock that marred my face.
The warmth from his hands being extremely comforting and I held onto them in a vice grip when I peeled my lids open only to focus into his eyes that were attentively studying me.
"When did you find out that my Jerdy is your- your father" I questioned, he averted his gaze probably coming up with sort of a response that would be filtered and his own version. "No more lies" I added, its high time I'm told about this, specially because I'm as much a part of this as Gabriel is.
He looked at me and noticed that I wasn't backing away so he replied "The day I came after you..." with this, his hold on hand tightened probably remembering about the day and it pretty much darted in my mind too.
"And you left... it was because you'd seen him" I fixed the lose pieces back. It made so much sense now and both of them played me like nothing had happened. It wasn't nothing, it obviously was such a deal. Gabriel immediately left without any explanation that day and Jerdy... the condition I saw him in is what I don't even want to remember, it was terrifying to say the least.
"I did" he confirmed without flinching, constantly keeping his eyes on me as the gears turned in my head and a few things started making sense as I started seeing areas in a different light now that I knew something new.
"That explains his reaction" I said almost to myself but with the close distance Gabriel was sitting, he obviously heard it and he looked at me incredulously, encouraging me to elaborate.
"His reaction?" he asked when he saw I wasn't going to say anything else. I wanted to free my hands but I couldn't, I needed the warmth of his hold to keep them of clutching my head.
"He was so in shock... hurt" I mumbled, closing my eyes not wanting to remember the condition to him, for it brought me inexplicable pain. It hurts to see someone so close to you in a position this helpless. Back then, he just shrugged at me calling in hypoglycemia and not giving me anything other than that but now that I know, I can only imagine how much of a surprise would it have been for him.
He was continuously asking me to go... even when he knew how bad he was shaken up by this revelation that I know of now. So many things still make absolutely no sense at all but before I could voice my concern, my thoughts were interrupted.
"Or just luring you in his theatrics" he offered and I looked at him in surprise and his lips curled into a sneer and he let go of my hands. "What did he play himself as? The victim?" he scoffed, shaking his head.
"I may not see through everything but I do surely know that he wasn't acting it out" I replied as he stood up and threaded his fingers through his hair at my response. I couldn't even stand up, I was limb locked.
"Did you purposely drop the part out where I called him a murderer" he asked and keeping aside the sarcastic tone, what I could blatantly hear in it was hurt and sadness.
"He isn't" I responded with assertiveness in my voice, standing up after him. Jerdy can be anything but a murderer and no matter what he or anyone says, I know he isn't because he can't be.
"Always in denial" he mumbled at me and the anguish in his eyes was so obvious that it took my breath away. He believed that I don't second him but how am I supposed to. I trust him with everything but that doesn't justify me to conclude that Jerdy... the man who has been like a father to me is a murderer.
"Or you're just in misunderstanding" I said plainly, making him look at me like I've lost my mind.
"He is not as innocent as you think of him as, Jenna" he said fisting his hand and placing it against the wall with his back facing me.
"Or you're too in hating him to know who he really is" I answered back at which he snapped, pushing against the wall as he turned around facing me.
"Then why didn't your saint 'Jerdy' tell you about anything? Why were you left in the dark, Jenna?" he asked and I didn't have anything to say. Truth be told, I was so hurt that I couldn't even explain it. Did Jerdy even consider me to be someone to him while he was going through so much in his life or was I just a charity case for him.
A girl with no parents who the world called mentally unstable for the nightmares and frights she had. Was that who I was to him that he didn't even consider telling me anything about his own life?
"Even if he didn't say anything to me? Couldn't you tell me about it?" I asked, he looked at me as he tilted his head to a side like he was studying me.
"It wouldn't have made a difference anyway. It's not like you would've trusted me with whatever I'd said" he replied and his voice was hard.
"When haven't I trusted you Gabriel? Did you exactly tell me things that I should know ever? Even now, it's not about me not trusting you with this whole Jerdy situation but I do know that there is some misunderstanding and..."
"Jenna" he cut me in between and clenched his jaw as he looked away, "Let it be" he said with finality in his voice and I literally wanted to scream at him. He wanted to drop it because it seems to him that I would contradict him.
Not only was he taking it all wrong, he made the situation revert to it all being me who's wrong and not the both of them for never telling me anything.
"Yeah exactly Gabriel. Lets leave it all to be because why should I know about anything at all. Let's keep the things the way they are and I'd be kept being a fool because that's who I am, aren't I?" I said in a breath and marched off to the direction of the building not waiting for his response.
It just feels like everything is going wrong with me and it just keeps adding up day by day. My heart was sinking so much with every second as the now new knowledge filled me in.
I'd always spoken about Gabriel with Jerdy and he'd always listened to me. He knows everything about him, not once did he think it was important for him to tell me. What did he think would've happened?
If he was sowing the seeds of nearness between Gabriel and I, did he think he was going to get completely cut off when both of us got together?
He was always so adamant on just pushing me away, having me edge nearer to Gabriel, what was all that for? If for say, he hadn't known who Gabriel was before he actually came knocking at our door - which is impossible because he always had more knowledge about him than I did, even when I was working for him- he'd still asked me to go to Gabriel rather than staying with him.
I remember Jerdy calling me all the time, telling me how The White GOI had won some award or when Gabriel was featured in some magazine and what were the mergers about. He clearly knew that the angry bird I was speaking about was Gabriel White and not to ignore I'd mentioned him almost every other conversation after.
After all of this, didn't he bother in the slightest to tell me that the person I was crushing over was in fact his son. It just feels like all I've been living in is a lie and everyday I get to be pulled in a cobweb of more and more.
I was so angry, on myself, on Jerdy, on Gabriel. What did everyone take me as? Why was I naïve to keep ignoring all the signs and now they won't even understand the situation I'm stuck in. Gabriel thinks that I won't listen to him and side him... that I've lost trust on him and Jerdy, well he didn't even consider me anything for him to say anything about.
I gasped as I was pulled by a force on my hand. It was then when I realized that it was Gabriel who'd pulled me from walking straight on the street with heavy traffic bustling.
I hadn't realized that I'd walked all the way that the building was looming over me and obviously Gabriel had followed me the whole way.
I was wrapped up in his arms where I saw a tinge of irritation which was present as he eyed the congested road I was about to traipse on.
He immediately paused and his eyes softened when they saw unshed tears in my eyes as he slowly wrapped his arm around my waist and lifted my chin up gently with his other hand, gazing in my eyes with his, full of pain.
I sniffed, looking down keeping myself from shedding any tears against the soft touch of his hand on my face. From my peripheral vision I saw a few people pause probably employees from Gabriel's company as they were shocked to see their boss in this position.
Gabriel didn't pay any attention to them and had his eyes only on me, I saw him open his mouth to say something when I beat him to it.
"Give me some space... " I whispered looking away from him. I gently pushed his hand from my chin away.
"You don't..." he started and he didn't even try hiding the brewing suffering and ache on his face.
"Please" I said, and he opened his mouth to say something but was cut off as I saw his phone ringing. I took this to my advantage as I stepped away from him, breathing to keep my tears in.
I don't know who was it on the other line, must be someone insanely important and infuriating even for the tick in Gabriel's jaw told.
"I have to go urgently" he said and I looked at him as he lowered his phone. So now he wants to give me unwanted details too. I looked at him blankly not understanding him. If he wants to go, then he can. I didn't hold him back.
"I can't leave you here alone" is what he said when I raised my brows at him. I scoffed looking away.
"Please" he said, I gazed back at him. His voice was soft and pleading. I gulped, not being able to break eye contact off him.
The chirpy voice of Cassie sliced through the heavy atmosphere that was settled between him and I. I broke our colliding gazes as I saw her frolicking through the steps of the building with a happy smile on her face on spotting me.
"Here you are, I was about to go look out for you in the coffee shop round the corner" she said before she eyed Gabriel at the side and an instant look of understanding and teasing masked her face. "Oh... so you were on a date," she said and all I could do was force myself to keep her from indulging further into the conversation so I gave her a smile but it was so difficult considering the situation I was in.
I was just feeling weird. "Can you drive me to your place?" is what I said without saying anything besides and Cassie's brows furrowed and I saw Gabriel's head whip in my direction.
"No!" Gabriel immediately declined, I didn't even have the energy to glare at him. I refused to look at him at all. Like I would listen to him.
Cassie understood that something was terribly wrong with me when she said, "Mr. White, don't worry. I know about the whole situation. She would be safe with me, I wont let anyone even touch a hair on her"
"No" he deadpanned and I so wanted to lash out at him but Cassie did equally the best. Well as best as she could do minus the part when she got completely intimidated by him. I wasn't even listening to them. I was more focused on the sound of traffic like it would bring some liveliness to my hollow insides.
As I roamed my eyes to the traffic flooded street, I winced at my actions. I need to keep my head straight specially when I'm walking.
"Okay... sure" Cassie said in response to something he had said and she informed that she's going to get things and I nodded at her. So it probably ended up being in Cassie's favor. Not that if it hadn't been in her favor would I still listen to him.
He however didn't move from the place where he was at and from my peripheral vision I could see him, staring at me but I didn't look at him. I was upset and I knew that it wasn't going to do me any good to stay and talk to him any longer.
Cassie had disappeared from the doors, most probably getting the things she promised to get. I kept my gaze to the people walking around with different thoughts swirling in their minds. A few smiling, few scowling everyone going through something different.
"I won't go till I know you're safely with her" he said breaking through the silence, I said nothing. I was tempted to turn towards him but I didn't and just merely nodded.
Cassie hopped through the stairs carrying my bag and things along with hers. A little while later, she brought her car and I sat in it while she rolled it away and all the while I could feel a gaze stuck on me.
The gaze that I didn't connect mine with.
I shut my eyes close and rest against the window of the car as she swerved it.
"Jerdy?" I called out, running through the front door with a huge grin on my face as I looked around for the man.
"Yes bunny, you're back" he said, walking down the stairs. He must've come home now for he was still dressed in his work clothes, his face had smears of the grease and oil. Must've been repairing some roughed up car in the garage he works in.
"And here, look what I got" I said, walking closer to him showing him the exam sheet in my hand, flailing it around.
"Won again this time?" he shook his head with a smile keeping his eyes on the perfect 'A' that I've got on paper.
"I mean when do I not?" I replied sassily making him chuckle but I could see the pride in his eyes. I didn't think I would do more than a C in Calculus but Jerdy had bet me on it so I obviously had to prove him wrong.
I know that he does it only for my favor because what he gets in the end anyway. Whenever I'm unsure in situations like these he always tend to make these challenges up and even though I'm always winning he still has a smile that shows that he has.
"So what do I owe you now?" he asked, throwing an arm down my shoulder.
"Was it that book from the series I was reading?" I mumbled, feigning innocence like I hadn't been reminding him of it everyday practically.
"Yeah fine, go get your shoes" he offered making me squeal and hug him tight, mumbling a thank you.
"Jerdy you've never won any of these. Why do you still bother?" I asked on the way returning from the store.
"I don't like to believe I'd lost, I haven't" is what he replies me with making me dramatically roll eyes at him making him chuckle.
"Whatever Jerds"
"Hey Jen, we're here" Cassie shook me gently, making me open my eyes and look around.
"Oh" I said, collecting my things and heading off to her apartment. It was a small, cozy apartment and since I'd been there quite a number of times I knew this place well.
"Did you eat something?" she asked as she plopped on the couch after me.
"Oh yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry about it" I replied sending a timid smile to her. She observed me and said no word as I saw her go to her room only to later emerge with fresh looking clothes that she threw my way.
"Here you can have a change of clothes" she said also throwing a bottle of water to me.
"What do you expect me to take a shower with it?" I asked, she rolled her eyes.
"Drink it idiot" she responded.
"Thanks" I said carrying the things and heading off to change. As I exited the bathroom I saw Cassie on the couch with her phone in her grasp,
"I've ordered food, Jen" she said and I nodded, she looked at me but I pretended to look busy. Pulling my laptop out I started going through random files like I was working but I couldn't even tell what was happening. I heard her sigh but she let me be.
I looked at the words of the documents but I couldn't focus as my thoughts kept drifting.
"Why would you ride that bicycle? Your feet don't even touch the ground properly" JErdy had said, shaking his head. He was obviously upset that I rode on that bike even when he said I was too young for it.
"Jerdy, I am eleven" I whined.
"Eleven is not old enough and now look you've gotten hurt" he said as he limped towards the door with now a bandage on my leg. I huffed but Jerdy had a scowl on his face. He was obviously not very pleased by this stunt of mine.
The whole day Jerdy didn't talk to me, only spoke to my foot asking if it was okay. My foot obviously couldn't reply so I had to do it on its behalf at which Jerdy just nodded at my foot.
It was later in the evening when it settled on me that I couldn't take him to be unhappy with me anymore is when I started annoying him to which he finally caved in.
"Sorry Jerdy" I mumbled, he sighed.
"It's okay Jenna but try not getting hurt. I don't want my cute bunny injured" he said, I beamed at him and he watched my favourite Disney movie with me which showed that we were now okay.
"Speak up" someone yelled, making me squeal.
"What?" I said placing a hand on my heart.
"You're zoned out staring at the laptop screen for so long. What's wrong?" she asked as I lowered the lid of the devise in hand and sighed.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" she offered.
"I just don't get it Cassie, even when I haven't done anything strange. I feel like I am in the wrong. There are things that I shouldn't overlook but I can't help myself. I always feel like I'm being hidden important knowledge from... things that I should know. Isn't my anger justified then?"
"See I don't know the situation but obviously if there is something that involves you so bad, the least that anyone should do morally and ethically is give you a heads up" Cassie said and I could totally relate to it.
"...and not question my trust on them if I end up knowing in the end, right?" I added.
"Absolutely!" she said. "Who am I punching though... Mr. White? I shook my head, placing my feet down.
"No! It's just... such a weird situation" I said, Cassie shrugged.
"It isn't easy for him too you know" she said offhandedly, a scowl appeared on my face.
"Weren't you offering to punch him like not even a minute earlier" I retorted, but my tone had the curiosity and she couldn't miss it.
"I was but I have also seen him today so..." she trailed off.
"What do you mean?" I questioned.
"Remember when I was arguing with him, offering to take you home with me?" I nodded, "He wasn't caving in until he actually looked at you and trust me Jenna when I say that this was the first time I'd seen emotion on his face and it was like he gave up all his contrasting thoughts just to see you okay. From the looks of his, I don't think he'd ever give up on you. Can you imagine the mighty Gabriel White backing off an argument because you weren't in support of his view.
He was so convincing till his eyes fell on you and without any further notice he agreed to you going with me. He's called me three times since then, he's genuinely so concerned about your safety. Not wanting to freak you out but anyone can tell that he lov-"she was interrupted with a sound of her ringtone going off.
"There you go" she said, showing me her flickering phone screen that read 'Mr. White calling'
"I'm just going inside" I said, not being able to take any more disclosing. It was enough for me for the day.
"That not so strange Jerdy of yours happens to be my father... perhaps a murderer" kept replaying in my head without any control making me slump on the mattress as I weaved my fingers through my hair.
"Hello Jenna sweetie, please come inside Ms. Choi is waiting for you" the lady smiled at me and I looked at her with frightened eyes. I didn't want to go anywhere with anyone but Claire said she'd come pick me up.
I don't need a doctor, he would be scary. He would poke needles in me, mommy always used to hide me behind her every time I told her that I was scared but now who would I go to. Claire had some work to do so she couldn't stay with me in these appointments.
I missed my mommy. They took my mommy away. Now I have no one, I don't want to go in alone. My eyes started filling with tears and I clutched the teddy bear to my chest.
I don't want to go. What if I am alone again, if there is darkness, gunshots...
"No" I said no to the lady who was asking me to follow her. The man beside me looked to his side and he asked if I was okay.
"I am so scared" I mumbled to him, my lips were trembling.
"You are..." he said, affirming to himself looking at my condition.
"How old are you Jenna?" he asked, probably learning my name from the lady who was constantly asking me to go after her.
"I've turned eight. Claire brought me a cake but I didn't cut it because I wanted mommy to be there" I told the man, he nodded.
"Where is your mommy?" he asked and I shivered.
"Bad men have hurt her. Claire said that she won't come back because she is in heaven" I told him the words Claire had told me about.
"Are you crying?" he asked and more tears leaked down my eyes as my body shook with sobs.
"Hey, don't cry..." he said as he looked so upset looking at me cry.
"Can I hug you?" I asked and he nodded wrapping his hands around me, holding me in a hug and he kept holding me to him till my sobs slowed.
"You know Jenna I have someone of mine who had gone to heaven too and... because of me" he said and I pulled away from him looking at him with welled eyes.
"So my mommy won't be alone? She won't miss me?" I asked as more tears slipped my eyes.
"Your mommy loves you!" he said like he knew who my mother was.
"No, she doesn't" I say, shaking my head looking down.
"Why would you say that?" he asked and I pressed my teddy close to me.
"People at my school say that she hates me so much that she's left me alone and doesn't even return when I have nightmares." I told him.
"Jenna honey, why don't you come inside" The lady said again and I knew she was annoyed at me. I shook my head at her, snuggling closer to the man next to me.
"Hey, it's alright" he said, looking at me but I still shook my head.
"Okay how about we do a deal, I'll tell you a story. You go in and after this little talk with the lady inside I'll take you for ice cream" he offers.
"Claire said don't go out with strangers" I said and he laughed at me.
"Yeah, fair enough. So we'll wait for Claire then take her along" he said and I nodded happily.
"Promise?" I asked.
"Then promise me you wont cry" he said.
"Promise" I offered my pinky to him that he connected with his making me grin at him and he smiled at me.
He then told me the story of the boy and the girl that over the years became my favourite and I can recite it even in my sleep.
After the story was over, I had to go in to see the therapist because of the promise but I was less scared now and more excited to go have an ice cream.
As I got up to leave, I turned around hugging the teddy bear to my chest as I looked at him.
"What is your name?" I asked him and he froze and a sad smile covered his face.
"You can call me Jerdy?" he offered and I smiled at him.
"Jerdy?" I asked and he nodded. He was my Jerdy.
***
"Jen, I am so sorry. Although I've screamed your lover boy down, he still showed up." Cassie said, poking her head through the slightly opened door.
"Cassie-" I said dejected,
"Jenna, he'd literally burn my whole apartment down with his glares. Just go and speak with him. Also, I'm armed behind you. I hardly believe a worn out milk carton can do much damage if he hurts you but still you have me" she reassured me and I stood up knowing that he wont go without doing what he came for.
"No, thanks" I replied to her support.
Walking out I saw him standing near the door, his eyes instantly on me as he marches closer to me. "You're okay?" he next to whispers to himself.
"I guess" I shrugged at him. Cassie scoffed behind me, I looked at her trying to gauge her reason for the pettiness. I lifted a brow at her, she shrugged.
"Can we speak outside for a minute?" Gabriel said, diverting my attention to himself.
"What, scared to lose your head, Mr. White?" Cassie said, making me shake my head. I heard her gasp.
"No. no shit! I said nothing. I ship you both... keeps the sails up" she said running inside, leaving me there with him. So much for the support... I mentally rolled my eyes.
He gently held my hand, looking at me, waiting for me to lash out. I didn't pay him any heed and followed him out the door which he'd shut behind while we stood in the corridor.
"You're not safe here" he said coming close to me and saying softly.
"Who from?" I asked.
"Come back with me" he said, ignoring my question making me look at him in incredulity.
"Oh, I forgot. I'm still not to be told till someone comes to me placing a sword on my neck" I said and my words were swallowed when his lips came crashing down on me.
My breath was caught in my throat as he turned me around and my back touched the wall. His lips were fiery, upset, angry with fervor and passion that had my heart racing. He pulled away from me looking straight in my eyes.
"Nothing. Is. Going. To. Happen" he said kissing my lips with every word he spoke as a promise.
"Why not?" I said in a staggering breathy voice. I was still shaken up by the out of nowhere kiss that had happened between us. His arms were still around me and he was keeping his eyes on me being so close that our noses were almost touching.
He didn't reply to me and took advantage of the situation, gliding his nose against mine as he sighed gently placing his lips on mine but I turned away and he ended up kissing my cheek.
"I'm in the dark, not on alert to the freaking point that I don't even know what is happening around me anymore" I said, getting out of his hold and stepping away.
"You still wont tell me, will you?" I asked him.
"Understand the situation Jenna, I can't" he said, looking around like someone was listening to us.
"Why?" I asked.
He came close to me and I almost stepped back, when he wrapped his arm around my waist and placed his lips on the shell of my ear mumbling, "You're still watched over, you know"
I gasped as a shiver went down my spine. I inhaled a sharp breath and he tightened his arm around me.
"Yeah, exactly! There is someone very close to us who's involved in it and I don't want to freak you out with who is being uncovered about this all but just know that there is someone." he said before continuing.
"There is someone who is as updated about you and your presence on wherever you go as much as I am and not many people know about this deal unless the ones who are in it." he said, still very softly.
"You're not safe here" he added.
"I don't think my friends would harm me" I replied to him only now clutching his shirt in my hold as he pressed me further into his chest murmuring in my ear. To anyone it would look a romantic scene and it really was but he was also giving me information this way.
"I can't trust anyone as of yet" he said.
"Yet you won't completely tell me what's going on either" I asked and he shook his head sighing.
"I am already telling you more than you should be told. Just know that this place isn't the right one to stay at" he said. Can someone tell him that I'm not a kid anymore.
"Fine, then I'll go back to mine" I said, crossing my arms and glaring at him and he looked at me.
"You think your house being broken into was an accident" he asked lowering his voice but his voice was menacing.
"Nothing that has happened has been an accident, right? Yet I can make no conclusion because I still no absolutely nothing" I tell him, splaying my hands in front of me.
"You wouldn't like the truth" he said looking here and there.
"I think I am grown up to decide for myself" I retorted, scoffing.
"It was me" he said and blood drained down my face and I nearly choked on my own spit.
"What?" I screeched and shook his head looking at me in alarm
"It... wasn't exactly me" he said urgently when he saw my state and my face was only portraying horror and shock.
"Gabriel, you do know that your attempt to not make it look freaky is making it ten times worse" I said it in a breathy whisper, he ran his hand through his hair.
"Mr. White, the delivery you asked for?" we were interrupted by a man who I now recognize as Gabriel's men. He nodded at me when he offered a basket to Gabriel and m eyes nearly popped out of the sockets.
"Wait a second" I said looking at the familiar parcel. "These gifts? These were the ones I got from the hospital" There were the same ones I got and they had nutella jars in them. These were the ones Ken told me were sent from the hospital.
"I am losing my mind Gabriel. It's not even funny anymore" I said, stepping away.
"Jenna, come with me. I'll explain it" he said as he glared the man into scrambling away taking the basket with him.
"Jenna, I think times up. Come in, I've invited someone over" Cassie said opening the door with a phone place on her ear as she added, "We have guests over"
"Hey Jinjo!" was what I heard as Cassie lowered her phone, so she was speaking to Matt but why was he here. He nodded at Gabriel who ignored him and went to grab my hand but I moved away from him making him sigh and frown at me. He was obviously intending on making Matt jealous, I know him.
"Got the pizza and drinks you asked for Cas" Matt said, so Cassie had called him.
"Ask Ken to get the ice cream" he said huffing carrying all the things with him.
"Yeah well Ken has bailed out. That strange human" Cassie said, rolling his eyes at Ken's antics.
"What do you mean? Where is Ken?" he asked, while they walked inside while I kept listening to their conversation and surprisingly so did Gabriel.
"Ain't coming... has some work to do" she said.
"I don't know, I've been calling him for so long and after he received it. He just made the most not so convincing excuse. Must be shagging some hot girl" Cassie said and I frowned. It's not likely for Ken to skip our hangouts. He always shows up.
"I haven't seen him in a while now and that is so strange coming from Ken" I mumbled.
"See him burst down the door tomorrow annoying the hell out of us" Cassie said to Matt as they placed the boxes on the table in the living room that I could see from the door wide open.
"You're coming in or..." Matt asked nervously.
"I'm coming" I said when Gabriel shut the door close, I had to hold myself from glaring at him.
"I want to go meet Jerdy?" I said out of the blue making his fists ball as he clenched his jaw and looked at me with his dark eyes. I don't know why I'd said that all of a sudden but I felt like it had to be mentioned.
"Even after everything?" he asked in a cold voice. What does he think that I'll leave everything behind for the misconception he has about the whole situation.
"Especially after everything" I replied. He said nothing at that and came close to me, I looked back at him expecting a lashing out session but he surprised me completely.
"Please take care of yourself... for me" he said coming close to me and placing a kiss on my forehead, I shut my eyes close and breathed in his scent.
"I know you wont like me for it but I think it's only better to inform you. I have security down, looking after you. If you feel unsafe even for a second, just give me a call" he said and didn't even let me object to it when he added.
"I could stay here with you but with everything going on I will give you the time to process everything. I don't want to overwhelm you more than I already have" he said and I stared at him wide eyed as he kissed my cheek, keeping his lips lingering there.
Pulling away he looked into my eyes when he said,"You mean so much to me, Jenna"
"So much"

We were watching movies. Cassie and Matt were while I was lost in my thoughts but I didn't make them see that I wasn't interested. They are good people. Although who I did miss a lot was Ken. I don't know where he was and he would've known how to make everything better.
My already messed up brain was completely out of bounds when I received a message that was a picture of Jerdy with something written with it. I was speechless but I maintained my calm to not ruin and panic in front of the two people who were hopelessly involved in watching the movie not aware of the plot twist in mine.
I was distracted when my phone started ringing. At first I thought it was Gabriel but it ended up being Jerdy on the ring. I received the call and slowly walked to the other room excusing myself.
"Hey bunny, guess what? I am on my way" he said and I was surprised to know that he was on his way here but then I also knew he would do anything in his power to keep me from going back to my home.
"Jerdy, can I ask you something?" I asked,
"Anything" he responded.
"What is your real name?" I asked like I had multiple times before but it was never too intensely where he brushed it off every time and I never paid much heed to it.
"Why do you want to know my name, is Jerdy not cool?" he said and I knew that I could sense it in his voice that he knew something was wrong. He was nervous and I had no emotion in my voice whatsoever.
"Yeah it is but Roger White is cooler"

A/N: So here we are...
*Unedited.
Okay guys suggest me some good shows on Netflix to watch. Quarantine made me run out off the list XD...
Question: What is your favourite movie?
Also, as cray cray as it is. When you people comment and bug me to update is when I remember that I have a story to write... I'm never annoyed by comments like those so don't worry and spam me whenever you want.
And... did you people like the little edit thing I did in the beginning of the chapter, I found it kinda cute so... Is it okay if I make more of these?
