Chapter 19
"She'd sit with me" said Ken with a grin, in a most assured tone. Chase rolled his eyes sarcastically.
"And where exactly with you? I hope you're not going to make her sit with you on your lap while you drive" remarked Chase, passing me a wink.
There goes my picnic, these guys won't stop bantering and my tiredness wouldn't just go away. I huffed and turned towards Ken to speak my view but he beat me to it, slinging an arm across my shoulder.
"Umm...Nope, firstly she's my best friend and most importantly I'm not willing to die so soon and in the most tragic ways by making her sit on my lap..." I frowned, "...and technically you should be grateful to me for saving you from dying an early death too. Anyway, thank me later."
"I don't und-" Chase sentence was cut off by Ken.
"Matt would you please go sit at the back"
Matt whined in protest but my look of insistence had him sigh and agree. He could see hoe Chase was making me uncomfortable and so my friend didn't do much of a protest and volunteered to sit beside him.
Hopping to our seats, we fastened our seat belts and the car rolled off towards the destination. I rested my head against the window and arranged by legs in a comfortable position. Ken snapped at me for keeping my legs down and not to ruin his car but if he decided to take me along, he has to tolerate little inconveniences. I smirked at him, he glared at me.
Ken turned on the radio and it appeared as if the people in the back needed a distraction in the quite which is why just the sound of a tune made them realize that they were off on a picnic and they should enjoy themselves rather than sitting as dead souls, making me shake my head at them. Took them long enough to come in terms.
Chase started with a few jokes which were so cringe worthy, I'd lost count of the times I pretended to fake laugh as to not hurt his sentiments and attempts.
My eyes met Ken's and there was clear irritation on his features, I panicked. I didn't want him to say anything that might hurt Chase. As much as I agree that he's annoying, he still is Casie's friend and it wouldn't be too nice of us to demean him, when its our job to entertain him or well kind of.
But then, I can't really blame Ken because every joke is getting top notch hideous.
"A neutron walks into a bar and asks 'how much for a drink?' The bartender says, 'for you? No charge'." Chase exclaimed and guffawed at it as though it was the funniest thing he has ever heard of.
I coughed out a laugh, a forced one, but he doesn't need to know that.
Matt had his ear plugs on but the nuisance sat next to him had him remove them and so after a few more of those jokes, he glared pulled them right off and getting frustrated, he asked Chase where did he hear those to which he proudly blamed the internet. Well...
"One day a Cop pulls a car over and when he walks up to the window he sees a penguin sitting in the passenger seat.'Is that your penguin?' the cop asks.'Yep,' the man says, 'it's my penguin'The cop turns to the man and says 'You need to take him to the zoo right now, you can't just have an animal in the car like this.'Okay' the man agrees, and drives off.
The next day the cop pulls over same the car and when he walks up to the window, he sees the same penguin wearing sunglasses. The cop says to the man "I thought I told you to take your penguin to the zoo.''I know' the man says, 'And he had a such great time! Today we're going to the beach!'"
At this, Ken shrilled in a high pitched girly voice, "Oh my Gosh! that was so lame. I need a wheelchair!"
A giggle escaped my mouth and Chase looked at us confused, Matt chortled and plugged his ear phones back. Ken huffed and addressed Chase from the rear mirror, "You didn't get it, did you?"
"No of course, I don't understand corny jokes. You guys really need classes to up your humor?" Chase snorted.
"From you? Thank you, next." Ken scoffed. I smacked Ken's arm. "Smurf, he was being intolerable" he whisper yelled.
I glared at him. He shook his head sulking and returned back to focusing to drive.
I dozed off somewhere in the middle of listening to Chase and Cassie screaming to the lyrics. It was an impossible job to do so in the first place but I guess tiredness does that to a person. My eyelids were so droopy, they were pretty much cradling the sleep wanting a slight inclination to have release it and drown wholly.
When we finally arrived, Ken had to shake me awake and I could see Matt's concerned face hovering over mine from my side of the door. I turned around to see the back seat was empty, those two must have gone.
Obviously Jenna, they wouldn't evaporate. My musings were cut off by troubled looking Matt.
"Are you okay? If you're tired we can just go back. I told you Ken it wasn't a good idea. She was tired, extremely tired. She hadn't been sleeping. Look at her, she looks so sick. Let's go back, she nee-" Matt rushed out panicked. I cut him off.
"Matt! Matt, I am fine. I just fell asleep but I am okay now" I said, undoing my seat belt and sitting straighter. From the side of my eyes, I could see Ken texting someone with a ghost of smile on his face, totally uninvolved with our conversation.
"How can you be okay. You haven't been asleep for more than twenty minutes and with those two being so loud. I should've kept them low..." he said and both of our gazes looked to where Cassie and Chase were, they were carrying baskets and bags and were heading off to the designated picnic spot with smiley faces. "I didn't notice you were sleeping or I would've... I- I am so sorry Jenna. I couldn't help you then and now when..." he looked down and his face looked disappointed.
I jumped out of the car, "Matt, you aren't serious. Are you? You've been just an amazing friend to me" Ken coughed, he had rounded the corner and came to stand next to us, I ignored him and muttered a 'you too' "...but honestly there wasn't really anything that you could've done. I decided it on my own and in no way was it your fault. You tried to talk me out of it, you convinced me to not do it but I had to... I just had to."
"So my dear Matty Batty, you're not going to beat yourself over it. I'm fine and now enough of this emotional talk. Lets enjoy." I didn't tell anyone about the deal, not even Ken. Ken knows about it, his face shows that he does but he doesn't bring it up and that is what I am thankful about.
Matt looked at me skeptically, I nodded and mustered up enthusiasm to not let my friends down.
My eyes took in the beautiful blue stretching from the ends of the shore, glimmering under the harmless rays. The layers and layers of foamy waves overcoming the previous ones. Promising to hover over pain and gliding its remnants away.
It wasn't so crowded which as a good sign. There were shacks built on the side but nothing appeared to be as inviting as the sea and the accomplice shore.
I walked with my flip flops in hand because lets face it, these things go so straight in the sand and when you pull them back they snap from their attachments. I've got way too many broken already and also the feel of the sand is soothing and so satisfying, so who would risk all the trouble.
I let my feet dig in the warm sand. The sea breeze blew my locks with its movement and a smile filled my face. Maybe, the idea of picnic wasn't so bad. I might as well refresh me and wipe away the negativity of last weeks mess. I was so lost in thoughts that I didn't catch to what had been said and when I finally realized, the other two were ready.
Chase stood on the blanket, that they may have probably laid, a few meters away from us and he yelled, "It's a race between you three, whoever comes last would be thrown in the ocean. On the count of three...
One... wait what?
Two... I can't run for the life of me. I'm a lazy person for heaven's sake.
Three... here goes nothing.
I sprinted from my place and covered huge steps in wanting to overcome the distance in the shortest time. It wasn't that far but guess who is unfit. I, despite being leaner than the other two couldn't run and reach there first, ending up losing with disoriented breathing pattern and extra ordinary muscle exertion.
Matt and Ken chortled at me like the idiots that they are. Chase looked at me with predator eyes and I started backing away, I wanted to run but I'd been drained out of the little energy that I possessed.
I giggled, turned around and ran away, it wasn't that I didn't know how to swim, but I wasn't planning on it. Even though Cassie did force me to wear a bikini under my dress, I wasn't as thrilled with the idea. I decided to just touch my feet in the ocean but I wanted to read and relax for some while prior to it. I didn't know where was I running, the beating of footsteps behind me told me there was someone behind.
"Go Chase her, Chase!" exclaimed Cassie and laughed at her own pun.
I couldn't go too far when a pair of warm hands came around my waist and lifted me off the ground bridal style as if I weighed nothing, I squealed and clenched my eyes shut. My stomach somersaulted and I clasped tightly around the fabric that I could reach.
My smile transformed into a confused expression when my fingers grasped ahold of what suspiciously felt like a collar of a dress suit. Those were mere seconds before I was snuggled in the warm chest and the fact which was dangerously alarming was the scent, the same musky, alluring smell that befogs and inhibits me.
A smell that is both endearing and terrifying at the same time, it gives me a sense of protection and a call of threat.
My eyes shot open and all the suspicions were proven right when my eyes met jade ones. The grip on my body tightened, drawing me closer to him. His green orbs had me mesmerized as they usually do. They have that magnetism in them that they keep swirling the viewer in.
The dissolve of colors in separate entities and their hazy stormy mix that never ceases to take my breath away.
What was he doing here? I don't remember him being invited. I can trust my friends enough to know that they wouldn't particularly invite a person to our relaxing day, especially the one who had been responsible of my state which required relaxation.
My grip on his collar tightened, partly because I was scared of going too weak and collapsing under my weight if incase he returns back to his mean side and lets go of me and majorly because the overwhelming scent of his and his alluring eyes were doing a great number on my heart and mind.
His eyes are so breathtaking, circles and circles of color contradicting the others yet having to stay dissolving in their own. The storm in them always seems burdened, like they've been holding weight of the world. The eyes that have been through impenetrable darkness and are now just awaiting a ray of light.
Gabriel has always been a stoic and a cold person, he's never had consciously let his guard down except that once when he laughed in front of me, but whenever he has, his eyes were the first to unlatch from the grasps of his restrain, their vulnerability being the first to outshine his demeanor.
They'd always appeared to be residing stories, tales and tales, that haven't been touched and are too fragile to appear in the open. The utter despair in their nooks, the reasons of the displeasure, the screaming torment of theirs is so vivid, I wonder if its just me who is able to sense it or are they visible to the world.
Lost in his orbs as he was in mine, we were broken out of out trance by Chase,
"Excuse me mister, you've lifted the wrong package. She will..." he trailed off and snatched me away from Gabriel's arms, "...yeah; you look good here" he said and smiled at me.
My eyes automatically darted towards Gabriel and certainly they were murderous, he was glaring at Chase and if looks could kill Chase's bones must've been powdered six feet under with the intensity of his glare.
He walked closer and collected me back from his arms as though I was a toy but as harsh as it appeared that he might've grabbed to return me to his arms, it wasn't at all a hold that inflicted pain. It was a soft yet firm hold, like he didn't want me to be hurt and at the same time wanted Chase to get the message.
It was comical the way I was passed back and forth and it might appear weird and totally psychotic but I found comfort and satisfaction in Gabriel's arms. Call me insane for being attracted and being comfortable in arms of a man who hasn't been anything but torturing with me but yes, I somehow liked to stay there. It made me feel like I belonged.
Chase went ahead and attempted to grab me back in his arms but it took him one harsh glare to cower away and well, he looked petrified.
Realizing what I was up to, I squirmed in his arms, wanting to be put down. I don't really want him to be this close with me. I have already circled one chance of his failure out of five and according to his progress I don't really think we would actually remain being friends. He just doesn't want to remain with us, with our little group and be jolly or well, in his case adjusting. A person can never be pushed to something they aren't willing to do.
He gently placed me down and his eyes seemed hesitant, I wonder why? He hasn't gotten the satisfaction of dropping me and embarrassing me, probably that's why. It's bad to speculate but with the kind of person that he is, everything seems right.
I don't know what was I expecting of him to say, but what came off his mouth definitely took me off guard.
"How are you? You don't look so good. You've lost weight" he said and placed a palm on my face. His eyes were filled with concern, if I didn't know any better I might've believed that he cared but I know it must be one of his games to lure me and then do what he does.
I took a step back his hand dropped from my face because of my move. My throat had clogged up. All I could say was, "I'm, I'm fine, Mr. White" and averted my gaze from his because I knew looking in his eyes would totally make me give up the entire stance I was holding.
Gabriel was wanting to say something but Matt was there in an instance, he stood next to me, he's been worried sick of my health and he rushed to stabilize me, fearing that I might fall due to the dizziness, which he had seen me have since the past week, where whenever we interacted it appeared as I would fall.
Matt held my hand and Chase reluctantly touched me, better yet poked me his finger all the while keeping his eyes at Gabriel as though I was electrocuted. I would've laughed at the situation but I held it in, because I didn't want him to see that he was humoring me unintentionally.
Yeah, I am petty.
I turned towards Matt totally ignoring the 'uninvited person's' eyes, which were constantly trained on me. I smiled when I saw the worried face of Matt and I pulled his cheek, "I said I am fine." He was reluctant and when I nodded at him, he sighed.
Ken who was busy setting the baskets along with Cassie reached us and raised his brows at Gabriel, "What an unpleasant surprise"
Gabriel did not answer, he was searching my face, Ken probed "Well..."
"I'm here to be a part of this picnic." he responded finally agitated.
All of our eyes shot open and each one of us scanned his outfit. He wore a crisp white dress shirt with a dark brown blazer, matching slacks with formal shoes and his hair were gelled, even the harsh winds weren't helping them in tousling much from their drawn back position.
"Yeah, you've got the outfit for that" Ken said sarcastically. Chase was too frightened to say anything and I, well I didn't want him to see he mattered anyway even though I wanted to laugh. Matt was drawing circles in my palm, lost in his own zone, seeming content, not paying any heed to the conversation.
The man in question totally ignored him, his eyes were continuously trained on my hand that was clasped in Matt's grasp, Matt had seemed to notice it too and he interlaced our fingers. When my eyes met his, he passed me a smile. I tried reciprocating it but it seemed like a futile attempt, looking absolutely strained.
He saw through the fake stretch of my lips, his smile completely dropped and a forlorn look crossed his face when I subtly tried to pull my hand off his. I didn't mean to intentionally do it but it naturally happened as an impulse due to the smoldering gaze of his.
He shouldn't matter to me, his actions shouldn't be alternating my choices but apparently they've been doing so and its infuriating.
I have no idea why I did that to Matt, it was so spontaneous but the impact it had on him has my heart shattering. He looks rejected, even though its nothing to feel that way. Matt clears his throat and excuses himself and a smug look fills Gabriel's stance.
How sick of him to think that he can destroy anything remotely related to me, first my peace, then health and now my friends. I agree that at the moment I've been the one to hurt Matt but then his eyes are so compelling, almost controlling all my actions.
I groaned at my self and ran after Matt who hadn't gone too far. Chase started to jog along with me and after crossing some distance did he breath as if he wasn't scared. I did hear him say, 'man, he's scary' but I totally ignored any conversation related to him. Right now, I wanted to get my friend back who for some reason is upset.
My sun dress was sticking to my skin due to the humid beachy air and all I wanted to do was to sit and read my novel. I didn't really have major plans to go swimming because I had concealer and foundation on to hide my dark circles and I knew I looked like a raccoon under those layers, not wanting to scare my friends away. Thanks to someone and their oh so good orders that have made my face into such a mess, due to lack of sleep and constant stress.
I could feel eyes on my back but I didn't bother turning around, knowing exactly who they belong to. Going closer towards Matt, I jumped right on his back piggy bank style and clutched my arms tightly round his neck. Matt staggered a few steps before stabilizing himself and then a grin grew on his face.
"Come on Matty Batty lets have fun" I announced, flailing my arms around then instantly tightening them round his shoulder when I thought I would fall, making Matt chuckle. Matt clutched at my thighs and spinned around making me squeal and him to guffaw.
We were walking off to where Cassie sat in her bikini already sunbathing but had our steps halting when Ken asked us to stop. Matt turned around automatically having me move with him and Ken raised his phone.
"This calls for a picture." he announced and clicked it. Gabriel was standing right next to him in his formal wear and had his fists and jaw tightly clenched, gazing at nowhere as though he was trying to restrain himself. My smile already faltered but I nonetheless tried bringing it back when Matt addressed me, pointing over to Chase, who was talking to a kid.
"You both look so cute together" this was all what Ken could say when the phone was snatched out of his hand and harshly thrown on the ground. Cassie rose up from where she sat and mumbled low enough but I caught it, "He's here too. He can't stay away from her. Can he? Then they ask what is love?" saying this she returned back to her seating and plugged in her ear plugs.
"Get down from his back. You have work at the office, you shouldn't be here." he said pulling my arms away from Matt's shoulder and pulling me down his back with ease. Sudden dread at the name of office filled me.
"What the hell? I thought you'd deal with it better. You said you were here for picnic!" Ken stated annoyed.
Gabriel tugged at my hand, "Well, change of plans. I don't have time for what you have to say. Its her job, she'll have to do it."
"No!" I said, pulling my hand away. I've had enough of it, I wouldn't tolerate more of the nonsense. Had he not known that it was a Sunday and officially my day off. Of course he knows, but who would he be if he doesn't rile me up at least once a day.
"Oh yeah?" he took a step closer, making me take one backward but before I could collide with Matt, I was moved to the other side. He wouldn't even let me be closer to Matt. What is wrong with him? I took a step in Matt's direction but a hand encircled my waist from behind pulling my back flush to his front and his mouth was close to my ear. His breath tickled my face and I shuddered in his arms.
"Okay... this is our cue. Let's go help Chase with scaring that little kid to snatch his icecream" Ken exclaimed, dragging a sad and protesting Matt.
As much as I wanted to, I couldn't open my eyes to have a look at my friends who had already departed, the proximity was doing something to me, something inexplicable.
With ragged breaths, I whispered, "The contract didn't say anything about working on Sundays and-" a gasp left my mouth when I felt his breathing on my neck, my legs were turning into jelly and he sensed it which is why his grip on my waist tightened.
I inhaled a sharp breath when I felt his nose trailing down towards my collar bone and my heartbeat turned chaotic. It was so loud that I was afraid that he might hear it. His warm breaths had me frozen and as much as I didn't want to but I was loving the feeling.
No, no, no, I have a sensitive heart Mr. White. Do you want it to explode?
"You were saying" he whispered in hoarse voice, which was rough and all the more heart stopping than any had ever predicted for it to be. He was teasing, like he hadn't intentionally wanted this to happen and when it did, he wanted for it to go along. How the conversation go from being serious to this. Arghh. I am a mess.
Darn you, angry bird. You smell delicious.
Wait...what?
"I-uh...I..."
"You what?" he said and inhaled in my scent.
"If Cindrella's shoe fit perfectly, why did it fall off?" I said without any thought.
My eyes widened. Shoot. That's what I do utter complete nonsense in the weird situations. Gabriel stiffened and suddenly pulled away. He looked confused for once and voiced it.
"What?"
"Uh-no. Pretend I never said that. I just- yeah... I said what?" I panicked and ran away but I swear I saw a spark of amusement in his eyes and his lip slightly twitched at the side.
I rushed and plopped down beside Cassie immediately pulling up a magazine to cover my face, particularly my blush. I do know how to embarrass myself. Don't I?
Cassie pulled the magazine away from my face and pulled me by my arm, "we're going to swim"
"No, I just wanna stay for a while"
"Nope, not happening."
The boys came around and started whining too...
"Come on Jenna, stop being a baby" this was Matt
"Lets go Smurf" this was Ken
"Show us a little of that hot body" Chase started and he looked behind at someone who was standing behind me and quitened, "or maybe not. I prefer to stay alive"
I looked behind me and the incident from a while before came in front of my eyes, causing me to blush and continue keeping my head down.
I looked up and saw four pairs of puppy dog eyes, I sighed. "Alright!"
And now three hollers, I rolled my eyes at that. I reached over to take my sundress off since I was already wearing a bikini inside and as soon as I took it off, I didn't even get the time to open my eyes properly and all I was able to see was a blazer clad back blocking my view of my friends.
It took no genius to figure out who it belonged to and it came so out a sudden out of nowhere that I didn't have any idea where it appeared from.
"Mr. White?" I asked.
He turned around, took off his jacket and wrapped it on my shoulder. I looked up at him shocked. Is he okay?
Cassie's voice interrupted in the middle, "Mr. White, we're on a beach and its not cold"
He didn't pay any heed to any one and just kept his gaze on my eyes. His gaze fixated firmly on my face, not travelling anywhere else. The thought of his presence had be blushing. My blush triggered a spark in his eyes. They were awing, soft and delicate.
His fingers gently brushed against my cheeks in a feather like touch, almost absent but having a massive impact in melting me from inside and enabling the fackuting butterflies to flutter wildly.
My eyes quivered, unable to bear the intensity of his look.
A clearing of throat made Gabriel stiffen, yet he held my hand and didn't allow me to face my friends.
"Oh goodness! Get a room guys" yelled Ken.
My palms covered my face. What's wrong with me? We are in public and we're still portraying such intimate gestures. Truth be told, I guess this isn't even part of intimacy or even an ounce of what people consider as romantic or PDA, but knowing Gabriel it appears to be his best. Don't ask me how, I guess I know it is.
"Jenna's with me. You all go ahead, we'll join you shortly" Gabriel said not moving his gaze from me. My name sounded so different coming from him.
"You too?" Ken, Matt and Cassie asked at the same time, making me jump. Are they possessed?
Gabriel rolled his eyes but refused to respond. He doesn't speak to people unless required and guess he's not too interested in talking at the moment. For starters, he has to stop torturing me with his gaze to do any further actions.
"Pinch me, please. I have difficulty in breathing" I couldn't see, but I knew it was Ken. Drama queen.
Chase rounded Gabriel and playfully wolf whistled at me. I was honestly scared for this guy. He sure has a death wish, knowing how much Gabriel disliked him, he still has the nerve to tickle the beast.
Gabriel held Chase's collar in a tight grasp, "Didn't you hear it when I said Jenna's with me?"
Chase raised his hand in surrender, "I-I thought you m-meant..."
"Get the hell out of here!" boomed Gabriel.
Matt had already gone away and Cassie had gone after him, thanks God, before being a witness of her cousin being harassed or well, he called for this one. But they don't need to know that.
Chase didn't even look in my direction and sprinted away, Gabriel was focused on his retreating figure.
I attempted to take off his coat, he held my hands and spoke in his smooth voice, "Don't"
"You do realize we're on a beach, right?" I scoffed at him.
I handed him his coat and walked towards the shore, Ken smirked when he saw us approaching. Giving him a side glance, I asked "You're going there wearing all that?"
"If you want my clothes off, all you need to do is say" he said.
I abruptly stopped in my tracks and as much as the reply had an intention of making me blush, it did the complete opposite, tinting his ears and neck. He sassed.
I kept my hand on the waist and smirked at him, but it was hindered by the blush when I saw his eyes raking through my body. His face looked star struck, like his breathing had stopped. I don't know what it is about him but he never makes me uncomfortable no matter how shamelessly he gawks at me.
I wasn't wearing anything too revealing, because first off, I'm insecure and secondly I doesn't make me feel so comfortable, I wonder what has him staring?
Right now, he's looking like an adorable puppy who had been bedazzled with his mouth slightly parted and his eyelids softly drooping. I want to pull his cheeks so bad.
"Mr. White?" he didn't move,
I touched his arm, "Gabriel?" he jerked and lightly shook his head.
"Are you okay? He cleared his throat and nodded.
As insane it may appear to be, it in fact is a reality that I love to spend time with him when he's in a good mood. Even if he never says much and is not a good company to others, I enjoy his least to no talk, just the presence of him is enough.
I saw him wiping a sheen of sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand, I giggled.
He looked at me questioning, "this is why you don't wear this to the beach."
"I wasn't really intending to be here," he said interlacing his fingers in mine.
The butterflies, no Jenna. Don't mess it. He's finally opening up, don't make him regret it.
He had taken his shoes and socks off and now we were walking hand in hand with soft waves touching our feet. My small hand was completely engulfed in his large one and don't even ask me what was my condition.
"You made an all of a sudden decision?" I asked, not knowing how to carry the conversation. He nodded.
It's just that I'm always scared that I'd say something that might shut him down and he would resort to returning to his old ways.
I don't know what possessed me but I bent down and splashed a handful of water on his face. This is what usually happens when I'm with him, his presence compels me to open up and be me, so I did what I would've done without a second thought.
For an instance, he was frozen then he raced after me and splashed water at me. My feet tumbled and I fell laughing and he kept splashing water on me while he was hovering.
He pinned my hands above my head on the sand and had a huge grin plastered on his face, making my breath hitch. He's so beautiful.
He looked so untouched from the harshness of the world. His face contorted to the folds of utmost contentment, making me giddy at the sight. My hand reached up and cupped the side of his face, feeling his stubble digging in the soft skin of my palms, hitting me with an overwhelming emotion.
His grin faltered when he saw me gazing at him, but his eyes remained soft, he involuntarily leaned to my touch.
"Can I ask you for something?" I asked, he didn't respond. I took this as a cue to proceed. "Give people a chance, don't shut them out. Not everybody is meant to be trusted and not everybody is meant to be ignored. "
We kept staring at each other before a ball came and hit his head at the side, making me laugh. He scowled and sat straight. Too much for staying happy.
He sat straight to see, it had come from where two little kids were playing, he handed it over to them, surprisingly without any trace of anger.
I sat up next to him and we sat gazing at the wide expanse of the ocean.
"You don't look like you don't come here" I asked,
"That's because I do" he replied,
I looked at him in amusement, he returned my gaze. "Came to you as a surprise, didn't it? breaking the stereotype."
His gaze suddenly contorted into a frown, his fingers gently swiped under my eyes. My eyes widened in surprise and I suddenly looked down. Seems like the makeup had come off due to the water and the dark circles are clearer.
His eyes turned pained, the agony on his face has me to tell him that its nothing, he scoffed.
"I did this, didn't I?" he asked looking back at the sea.
I had this urge to wipe off the sadness from him, to have him smile and be happy.
"You didn't know. It's not your fault"
He looked at me like he couldn't believe in what I was saying,
"I've been nothing but an asshole to you, why do you have to be defending the bad I am doing?"
"I am not defending the bad, I just know that you're so much capable to do the good. I trust you?" I said.
"Why?" he asked in a whisper.
"Because I consider you my friend and I won't stop until you consider me yours"
