Chapter 17

Is it okay to push a glass shelf over someone and make it appear like an accident? Or would that be less?

Because I just want to spring out of my seat and smack Ken so hard on his head that he sees stars and all the possible visible constellations a person can plainly have a view of.

Who wouldn't? Well, technically throwing a glass shelf over him would be doing nothing, a normal person would literally smother his face in sriracha sauce and sprinkle black pepper over it.

No, I am not usually this barbaric, better yet I stay far away from violence unless someone messes up with me to a point where I am not able to tolerate and keep a tame palm over the monster inside me.

And what basically are you to do to rattle the sleeping monster. Nothing much, just be Ken and irritate the heck out of me. For starters, put tacky gum under my heels and make me walk all across the floor in attempts of scraping it off.

Not enough? well, then announce to the whole cafeteria that I accidently swallowed a fly and see their disgusted faces and lame remedies. When it does not get satisfactory for you, grasp the burger I was meant to eat as lunch, without me even having a bite of it and eat it whole even when I so clearly have exclaimed that I was hungry and hadn't had breakfast.

When I walk away pissed off and return back to working on an empty stomach, come show up at the desk and sneak away the nutella jar I've kept in my secret stash, the only thing I thought would keep me going throughout the day.

Finally stand farther away from me under the glass file shelves in the corner of the department all the while sticking fingers in my sacred nutella jar and licking them along side making nauseating noises. That's all what Ken basically did and is continuing to do and to say I am seething would be a huge understatement.

The reason you ask? well nothing so deep and requiring to go this extra, just that Ken has made my life impossible ever since I told him -after his incessant probing, that is- what I had talked with Gabriel about and what discussion were we having when we interacted in the hallway.

Initially, I was shocked of how Ken knew about it, because one thing that I was sure of was that Gabriel is a secretive kind of a person, he wouldn't go forward telling everyone that we had crossed paths and made a decision to act like strangers with each other, not even to his friends or in his case, friend, namely Ken.

So, after inquisition I was told by Ken that the spectators who were around observing that scene at the time had spread it in the entire building. Not only did they make a fuss about it, they over exaggerated things and told everyone that we were fighting and Gabriel was most likely abusing and harassing me.

A few even came and spoke words of sympathy considering that I'd been abused and been raised hand at. At that, my heart ached. I know I'm not in good terms with Gabriel White but never once did he do anything to physically hurt me. Yeah sure, he does say words that might hole a person from inside and is very rude and arrogant at times too, but something that I am too sure of is, is that he wouldn't hurt me.

Heck, he doesn't seem the type to physically harm any girl but then I could always be too quick to conclude but my gut feeling has always told me he wasn't capable of doing something like that and I don't even want to question it anyway.

And it literally broke my heart when people came around saying that he is infamous to be this degrogatory and hurting people and bruising them to be contended. Even when we haven't been in forever good association, I couldn't take it when someone, be it anyone spoke garbage about him. I just wanted to empty boiling water on their scalps even though all they wanted to do was to help me. There was a strange emotion that bubbled inside of me when there were offensive words used for Gabriel's sake.

An emotion so strong was invoked in trying to defend him that I couldn't even understand myself and why I was doing what I was doing. The strength of what comes of me for him staggers me a bit, shaking me up to the very inch of my skin.

If the accusers get a clear picture of what they might've referred to as abuse, they would realize how wrong they were and what accusations they'd been spreading, the scenario was far from abusive. Sure, I was held close to him but it was in the most intimate gestures. The way his arm had wrapped round my waist or how his warm breath fanned my face and held me a prisoner of the musky fragrance leaves me all tingly just at the thought.

The delicacy with which he touched my skin as though I was a rare piece of China and he was afraid to even let a scratch be on me remains imprinted in my senses. I blushed a deep scarlet at the thought. The color of his eyes, the green thawing at the edges in their lightest shades and an elated spark buried in them, as though a spattered palette of an artist willing to paint a meadow scenery.

Anyway, I had told Ken that I'd decided and informed Gabriel that we wouldn't talk with each other and will keep our distance and not be friends or even acquaintances and this somehow disturbed Ken, probably not as much as it's disturbing me ever since I've uttered it out but somewhere close.

He was very disappointed in me for even bringing this up, I so wanted to yell at the top of my lungs to tell him that Gabriel has been very rude to me lately and has said things he shouldn't have. I so wanted to tell him that he has brought me inexplicable pain through his words but I couldn't bring myself to even say anything bad about him. Curse myself in Latin for this.

Ken apparently believes that we are both hurting ourselves and losing our friendship in the process of refueling our egos, although he did stutter and scrunched his nose at the word friendship, I don't know and can't really tell of what else he was willing to say if not the word friendship.

He has therefore decided to annoy me unless I go and reconcile with Gabriel and act like normal with him. I'd given Ken a go ahead saying that I wouldn't be annoyed and he could do whatever to trying to irritate me but it's appearing as though my said words are now backfiring at me. I am irritated and I can't even explain my utter annoyance at his actions. Specially with the way he is continuously putting his finger in the nutella jar, things aren't helping my anger much. Plus I am hungry, Ken better look for an exit in a minute or two.

"Okay Smurf, I know you're pissed off at me and most definitely want to kill me any chance you get but please try and understand me, I have no choice. You don't even know how hard you're making it for... uh... yourself." he coaxes,

I shut my eyes close tight. Ignoring him, I continue working and type furiously, almost punching the keys off my board secretly pitying the poor object at being the one to tolerate my abuse but there had to be someway I could distract myself and here's how I decided to do.

"Smurf" he probed, I continued ignoring him,

"butter corn"

"leaking caramel"

"sheesh kebab"

A smile broke at my face but I faked a cough to keep it from showing, I looked up at him in his eyes with the straightest face I could keep, "what?"

"I knew that would break you" he said acting smug. He walked over to my table, keeping a reasonable distance between both of us. Smart guy.

When I glared at his hands which were still in the nutella he gave me a petrified  look and recapped the jar, gingerly placing it back on my table.

I grasped at it and unscrewed the cap only to be greeted by an empty container which otherwise, prior to Kens attack was half filled. Agitated, I gritted my teeth and hissed at him "you think it's funny to finish my food up?"

"Calm down captain. We'll talk about it later" he said putting away the jar. He swiped all the folders and objects that were placed on my table to one side making me gasp and hit him. He slid up and sat at the now cleared place on the table in front me swinging his feet as if he was a little kid.

I sighed and rested against my seat, "what do you want?" I questioned.

"You know what I want from you, don't you?" he replied, being absolutely serious.

"Why are you so adamant in wanting for me to go and be friends with him?"

"You'll know soon. But it's definitely not only for me, trust me at this," he said and his eyes were pleading for me to understand him.

"Ken, you know me. I'm usually very grateful at having friends and I respect the friendship and the person with whom it is, it's only natural that I expect the same respect that I give. There are banters, fights and everything that comes with it but insult or disrespect doesn't come with a part of the deal, does it?"

"I know Smurf and I know he gets a little overbearing sometimes but this is how he usually is. I've known him, he's not as bad as he makes himself look. Don't finish things so soon, you have no idea how much will that hurt"

"Him?" is scoffed,

"Let's not go there, I wouldn't want to freak you out with my observation just yet" he said and I frowned, "please smurf, just understand please and continue being the one to consider him angry bird along with me"

"You really are a good friend to him Ken, that you're not willing to let him be without friends" A forlorn look clouded his face and whipped passed through it in a heartbeat. He grinned,

"Yeah, lucky asshole. He must've begged to the heavens to have a person like me" he said cheekily, I rolled my eyes.

But I cannot deny how happy it makes me to know that he's not letting him go. It is so surprising to know that even if Gabriel is usually cold and distant towards Ken, Ken is anything but that towards him. He's made him stick with him, despite everything. Opposites attract and that goes for their bond, externally so dead-like but soulfully clasped.

"So, what do you think" he asked, his voice and eyes hopeful. I smiled and nodded my head.

It's not like I have any problem in being friends with him. I even enjoyed knowing him for as long as I've known him unless he started being so arrogant and mean towards me. If he's deciding to give this friendship a chance, I wouldn't hold back. I'll have to forget the words and actions he's previously done and move on.

Ken squealed like a little girl and pinched my cheek shaking it back and forth, "Ohmigosh, I'm so excited" he said actually clapping like a girl getting to be paired with her crush, I giggled. The half eaten nutella jar is definitely hitting in.

Someone's high on chocolate.

Ken hopped to the girl next row and started wiggling his brows out of nowhere, she gave him a questioning look and cringed at him making me burst into laughter. How was he permitted to pass middle school and be categorized as an adult.

My stomach grumbled and I sobered up immediately. Lifting my water bottle, I took a swig of it and sat back hopelessly gazing at the watch to see how long after would I be able to go home and feed myself till my heart's content.

Ken was traipsing around the floor doing God knows what, I don't genuinely understand what does he even do here when he doesn't even work here all the time. He has some other job alongside being here in 'The White GOI', the guy seems very carefree and unbothered but professionally he's very daunting and undefeated in his case of work -as I've been told by everyone- even though I never bothered asking what his official occupation was and not like he's going to answer me anyway without mocking things.

I do know though that here in 'The White GOI' he has some higher ranked work to do. Well, the guy's a genius in disguise. No one can question his position anyway.

I was so engrossed in working that I didn't even notice when Matt had come and stood next to me,

"Jinjo!" he whispered right next to my ear and I yelled so loud that I almost got a stink eye from everyone seated close to me. He laughed so loud and I struggled maintaining my breathing. My heart was beating so loud that it was almost about to rip out of my chest.

Matt was fisting his mouth to prevent himself from laughing and before I could react, an other scream ripped pass my throat when Ken suddenly howled from behind me. Now where did he come from?

Ken jumped up and down laughing and I started laughing after looking at him, "I am so happy that I got to pee" he yelled running away, making me and Matt burst into fits of laughter. I couldn't contain in, the felicity and the humor of the situation made me insane.

I wanted to stop but every time I looked over at Matt and saw him hunched on his knees cackling like a crack, I started laughing again until for the umpteenth time we were interrupted by a rude voice of none other than Gabriel White,

"I can't help but notice how dedicated both of you are towards your work. I think the others should be here and take notes of your hard work"

My laughter died inside, I hate it when it happens, when you're working religiously and are being loyal to your job and profession no body bothers to notice but when you take even a second of break or get distracted, you get to observe fingers pointed at you.

My smile vanished as though it was never present and the entire jolly atmosphere thickened with the words and mood killing. The remaining of the staff tensed and turned stiffer, including Matt.

I cleared my throat, "I'm sorry Mr.White. We'll make sure it doesn't happen again." I said in a serious, clipped tone. Saying this I turned back to doing my work, signaling Matt to go back to his station and he complied immediately, obviously being on the same page.

Matt wasn't around today, he had some personal business due to which he had to ask in for a few hours break. That is why he wasn't present during our lunch break and knows nothing about Ken and I's exchange and all the 'me not eating anything' jazz, he has returned after almost half the working hours were over; that is now.

Matt scrambled back to his seat after mumbling an apology to Gabriel. My eyes were fixated towards the screen but I could feel Gabriel standing where he was, from my peripheral vision he was unmoving. Glancing up, I saw him conflicted. Was he wanting to say something? I couldn't help but think back to what Ken told me and nearly smacked myself in the head.

I was being formal with Gabriel despite promising Ken that I would try and act normal and be as friendly with him as possible. That's probably why he must be standing here, possibly waiting for me to talk and have a conversation with him. Ken must've talked him through this or might as well not, because this guy doesn't seem the kind to take orders or even suggestions.

It's been as long as over a week since we've last interacted as something akin to acquaintances or friends. I've been super mean all this time not even bothering to raise my gaze whenever he walked passed. This entire time I'd decided to consider him as a nobody, going by the little treaty I'd put forward. Even if I did see him anywhere in the office I'd made sure to not wave, smile or let him see any emotion from my side whatsoever.

It was hard, honestly harder than I thought it would be because whenever he is around or as much as in a distance of a few meters, a strange feeling combusts through me and lets not talk about the 'fackuting butterflies'.

I immediately felt bad and angry at myself for being this inconsiderate. There's always a reason for someone to act a certain way. He is arrogant, yes. Rude? yes, but it could be possible that the reason for all of his actions is remotely something that has made him this way. Or okay even if its nothing and he is being plain mean, he might've lacked people in his life who might've reprimanded him to do stuff like that and to behave in a certain way. This is what friends are for, to help the others through and groom them.

My mind suddenly goes to the other groom and my eyes widen at my own thinking? what on freaking pluto, what am I thinking? where did that come from? Friends, strictly friends. I was planning on being friends. That's it. I want to be a friend to him just as Ken had been.

Ken stayed along with him after all, not wanting to leave him all alone, probably being the one to fulfill his duty as a loyal pal. Knowing Ken, that guy is already loaded and most definitely has no concern in the world specially regarding wealth or popularity. Also, the guy has looks hot, so he's not possibly using him to gain himself girls. That much I know. So what he really stayed behind must be for the sole purpose of companionship.

I swiveled in my chair to face him, I looked at his face and it as usual was blank not giving away anything whatsoever, how would I tell him what I've been thinking, "I need to say something" I spurted out in an attempted confident voice, that sounded anything but confident. His face does that to me, it snatches away my confidence turning me into a blubbering mess. I hope he hadn't caught my shaky voice but I wanted to punch myself for that.

His gaze snapped towards me, his posture stiff. Without missing a beat, he spoke, "If you're willing to tell me how to act professional, you better save yourself the struggle Ms. Stephens, I know better. I've dealt with staff and people for more years than you've had a chance to interact with even half the amount. So, don't be here telling me things that you shouldn't be saying." he spoke in his very dominating voice, not loud enough but I can't tell if the lady next to me could listen. I can't really tell if she couldn't listen or if she's very good at acting. I suddenly had nothing to say, I just blinked at him a couple of times and sat like a statue.

Ken emerged back from the restrooms and headed directly to where we were, after sensing the chaotic mess of a crowd on the floor. He came and stood right next to Gabriel. I felt stunned and didn't know what to say, after all the man wasn't wrong. What was I thinking when I decided it was okay to order and enforce my thoughts over the CEO, but I wouldn't let him know that.

"No I-" I was cut-off when I went ahead clarifying myself,

"I'm not done yet, Ms. Stephens. You don't have any right to teach me anything, I make rules and you, being my employee are meant to follow them. Firstly who has given you the idea that I wanted to be anymore than an employer to you because as far as I know, that was never the case and never would be.  Don't flatter yourself that much" he was seething at this point, his eyes inexplicably dark and they did appear to be lethal, deathtraps, in all the possible contexts of the word, good and bad. He continued,

"I've had girls throw themselves at me, but you were smooth, I'll give you that. You made it appear like I'd wanted you but unfortunate enough for you. I guess I did tell you this before but I've learned to know all these tactics and these sick games girls like you enjoy playi-"

"Enough, Gabriel!" Ken said in a slow but a very threatening voice, glaring at his friend all the time, not being a least bit intimidated by his harshness. Ken always appeared to be nice and sweet, I never realized he had it in him to be this way. I would've literally saluted him or something, had I not been the one he was speaking in support of because I was paralyzed by his word vomit.

I didn't know what to say, I was hurt yet again and tremendously. Even though Ken was trying to defend me I still wanted to look up at him and ask if this was the friendship he was so adamant in wanting to make me reconcile for, because if so, I am very much not interested in doing it.

I mean yeah, they do teach us to not give up on circumstances but what about people? how can you possible deal with mono emotion executing people who want nothing less than a chance to demean you, well, accuse you of things you didn't even think of doing.

There sure were some fackuting butterflies and some weird stomach hurling emotions bubbling inside me for him but none of them in any way had given me the hint or suggestion of all the dirty job he had implemented I was meant to do. I wasn't throwing myself at him, I never did. I'm not that kind of a person.

Matt marched from his place sensing trouble and stood behind me with questioning eyes when he saw my probably red, humiliated face whereas I, sat frozen at my seat not knowing what to take in and deny taking. Sometimes I just marvel at myself for even being stubborn enough to still work for him but then the faces of all employees that might get affected because of me circulate in my head and just like that I'm left with no option but to endure.

I'm not usually the one to sit back and keep taking insults, I've been taught to defend myself. But I don't know why every time he says something about me in bad regards I'm suddenly very speechless, having no idea what to talk about. It's like I'm unable to believe that he could say anything like that to me.

It's sick actually, like what am I expecting? He is mean, not only to me but to everyone, then why does my heart refuse to take his repulsive side. Why do I feel so out of place whenever he spews harsh words in my direction?

"Oh so we have accomplices, good to know. Are we defending her, now? And Pauling, I guess I've already asked you to stay away from this and do what you're meant to, haven't I? I don't know since when have people gotten guts to question my doings" he said now shifting all his attention towards Matt. He was still angry, with Ken and I, okay fine but well at Matt more than anything, what for? no clue.

Ken's face showed that he was about to strangle Gabriel with the way his face held displease, he kept asking for him to listen to what he had to say but Gabriel remain deaf to all his pleas burning in his own fury. Don't he have multiple cases to take of that he still comes here and decides to put down Matt and I, both.

"Ms. Stephens, you are not going to work here anymore," he said in a firm, authoritative voice and for the first time after everything he has said, I felt contented, finally at peace. The words brought me a whiff of happiness that probably showed from my eyes which is why he spoke the next words that crumbled my satisfaction in a go,

"You'll work under me in my department"

He could've probably said that he would deduct my pay or ship me to the Bermuda triangle and it wouldn't have hurt as much as it this sentence of ten syllables did.

I gaped at him and so did Matt who was still very stubbornly standing there despite everything. This man is really wanting to lose his job and head too.

Ken closed his eyes shut in pure annoyance and a look where he couldn't believe that Gabriel has proposed this.

I suddenly had this solid urge to push the glass shelf against Gabriel, the very one which I was intending on throwing at Ken. I was angry, very. First of all I had to listen to his accusations, totally false ones and then he gets to order me around like that and weirdly I have multiple stupid mess counters checking in emotions inside my head.

I opened and closed my mouth like a fish in pure anger trying to say something but maintaining my rage, but no words came out in protest which gave him some sort of satisfaction, "I-I-"

"What, is Ms. Stephen trying to refuse me? because if so then I'd have to look for the first one who's going to sacrifice their position, hmm who would that be?" he said, lifting his hardened gaze up to where Matt stood, he sarcastically emphasized on my sir name to make it look professional. Matt, leave and return back to work you idiot.

Keeping my anger at bay, I stood up in front of Matt like a sheild -even though I could barely hide him, he was tall- which for some reason angered Gabriel some more, "Don't do this!" I said in the scariest tone I could use. I'm not a person to yell it scream in anger and we'll I never got infuriated much before meeting him, that is. So I have no proper knowledge of anger execution.

"Don't speak for him" he gritted out, his jaw tightly clenched.

"Then keep him out of this,"

He clenched his eyes shut, "he and everyone you know in this office would stay out of this if you decide to work under me in my department" he offered.

"Gabr-" Ken started,

"Let us deal with it Ken," he said raising his hand to stop him from speaking, Ken looked over at me baffled, not knowing what choice I would make.

"Why?" I asked,

He stiffened, his eyes a tad bit wider, like he didn't know why but that obviously must know. He is Gabriel White, he doesn't do it decide anything without it having a result he requires.

"Weren't we not suppose to see each other and act like strangers?" I asked challenging and I did hear Ken mumble 'that is the reason' but I ignored him, I don't know who he is referring to now.

"I said so and you are noone to question me? Is that clear?" He hissed and pointedly looking at Matt probably deciding to out him in Target but before he could do so,

I clenched my eyes shut, "Okay" I said, Matt and Ken gasped.

"Jinjo, it's okay. You don't have to-" Matt said, gently taking my hand in his, his eyes softly telling me that it's okay and he'll be fine and that broke my heart. Poor him, he has to endure so much because of me and this idiot 'angry bird'.

"I want to, Matt. It's okay," I said, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. The act didn't go unnoticed by my dear CEO, who glared at it and demanded me to be in his office in the next five minutes otherwise I would face consequences. Like what, friendship is harmful for his office rules now?

Letting go of Matt's hand, I passed him a sad smile and walked towards the elevators and Ken gave me an encouraging look. The working body of the people were looking very keenly at me thinking that I'm probably being expelled or something, little do they know what happened with me is far worse. I'd work in the mouth of the devil for the devil himself.

Before I could go, I turned back to see towards where the trio stood. Gabriel had spun around to walk away but Ken had addressed Matt in a loud voice while looking at Gabriel's back and said, "Matt, get her some food. She hadn't had anything since morning and she's hungry," a sad smile crossed my lips at the concern my friends showed for me and I walked to the 'The Devil's coven,' the floor, the very one where he works.

***

I'm sitting at his office, across his table for almost an hour now and man, I'm scared. He explained all that my job entails from now on and all I want to do is run away to my town go and bury myself in my blankets and never emerge to face the world.

For the first forty five minutes, he said nothing and tapped at his laptop furiously not paying any heed to my presence. I cleared my throat multiple times, talked to get his attention but nothing worked unless Matt started ringing my phone, I ignored it at first and decided to talk to him later but when I saw Gabriel secretly eyeing me after the phone ringing, I realized that this was finally something that evoked a reaction out of him.

Therefore, I started to talk to Matt, a little loudly to distract him. It was Matt's break so he wasn't professionally in any harm and no one could pin point at him because of that. He was genuinely very worried for me and I asked him to not be so concerned but I couldn't talk with him for more than two minutes because my phone was snatched away and the call was declined.

"Do you have manners?" I yelled at Gabriel with as much anger in my voice as I could collect and I did see him stagger slightly. He thinks nobody can yell at him, well he should see it coming. Good going Jen!

"You weren't talking with me, you were busy, right? so is it wrong if Matt wants to talk to me?" I questioned in the same tone along side glaring at him.

He decided to ignore it and said,

"Lanter said you were an amazing employee to him" I rolled my eyes, so now he wants to talk business. Took him long enough.

"Your point is?"I asked annoyed and honestly I know I can be mistaken but he looks a little, like very minutely taken aback by my anger. His face doesn't show it but there's a little if it in his stance.

"Why be an intern when you can be more?"

"But I don't wanna be 'more'" I feel at him.

"I wish you had a choice there but no, you don't. You keep saying that you want to leave this place right?" I nod, "well, let's do it this way. I've heard that you don't give up in your work, not until you achieve what you want. Isn't it?" I nod again,

"I won't fire you, I'll give you that option for yourself to do, we'll see how quick would you be to quit. If you quit within one month, you'll pay up for all the loss that we would go through in this very month and if you won't then I'll fire you on my own without asking for anything and keeping anyone else's job at stake. I'll give you five minutes to think"

What on holy moly Saturn?

I blinked at him surprised. What is he saying and talking about? He'll fire me. Yay, I guess. Look at the wider picture Jenna. He'll allow you to leave after this month, isn't that enough? What possibly could he ask me to do, I can stay at least for a month, if not more.

"Why all of a sudden?" I asked in the same professional detached voice,

"Employees don't ask reasons"

"And who's the sick person who put this in your mind?"

He ignored it, "so yes or no? Remember I don't have all day"

I thought it through, well it's bringing me benefit, I'll get rid of him by the end of it so, it's fine, I guess. My silly heart us beating in denial, what the heck is the problem with my organ coordination.

"Okay, I accept." I said, he nodded like he was expecting this response. Idiot.

"I can give you any office related work and you'll have to do it, you can't refuse. Remember, you have to forget that you were an intern. This would be a competition, are you in for it?"

"Do I have any other choice?" I deadpanned,

"Yeah you do actually, to get others fired in place of you" he offered shrugging,

"How appealing," I spitted rolling my eyes,

"You'll get your separate cabin, right across from mine. You can collect your belongings from your previous floor later, the cabin is already well equipped. Your job starts now" he said going back to doing his work.

Very helpful, I sarcastically thought.

"What am I basically supposed to do?" I questioned,

"You'll know, now don't waste my time"

I stood around and walked to the place which was meant to be my cabin, it was all glass and he said, it was well equipped, he was right. It had a cherry wood huge desk with all the office required appliances. It wasn't huge not little, just fine.

I was about to sit down at the seat when his assistant, Zoella carried eight giant files and brought them to my table, "Mr. White is saying that there's a  meeting tomorrow, he wants you to prepare his presentation with the help of these" she said that with a sneer and left, almost mocking. I sighed,

Before I could open the files I thought back to the entire incident from where he came to talk to me downstairs. He yet again said things which he shouldn't have. He basically indirectly referred me as a characterless person.

Why do people think that they can get away with anything that they say just for the satisfaction of the fact that they've let things off of them to soothe their burning anger. Do they not realize the pain they inflict over the one they say those words too.

No matter how calm and unbothered a person may seem, they do get hurt too. They too are affected by the whip of cruelty because in the end, we're still humans, humans who can feel and express. Yeah, some totally show that anything that is being told to them is being thrown directly out but no, I wish people could peek in to see the damage it brings along.

I don't want to forget what Gabriel said to put new down again at the same time I don't want to let Ken down. He's asked me to give Gabriel a chance and to understand him. I definitely cannot tolerate being insulted too much at the same time I can't give up so soon.

I measured the pros and cons and finally came to a decision that I'll personally give him five chances in my head for the possibility if being friends without letting  anyone know about it. If he turns out to be a better person we are friends. If he hurts me five times, there's no hope. I'll obviously leave this office within one month and the ones who'd remain friends with me will keep in touch the rest would be memory. I sighed,

I gingerly opened the files and scanned at each page, before I started sweating profusely at the content it held. It was some high class review of a new merger and I had to give some points to satisfy the clients to why we believe it would be beneficial.

After three hours of vigorous working I was still close to nowhere, my stomach had growled multiple times but later the glycogen kicked it and diverted it for a time being when a knock resounded at the door of the cabin. I was grumpy and my sides hurt in hunger. I cleared my throat and called in for the person.

Gabriel stood there at the door looking... nervous?, I sat straighter and he walked inside, I very professionally asked, "Is there anything I could help you with, Mr White?" I swear I was so hungry that I smelled fast food at his entrance. Hmm looks like I'll have to devour someone.

My eyes widened at that. No shoot Jenna bad. He looks yummy though. Shut up Jenna just shut up.

He dropped a brown bag of Mc. Donald's on my table, "Eat this," he said. Oh so that's where the smell was from. Wait, what?

"I am sorry, what?" I asked surprised,

"Eat this," he repeated sighing,

"And you care, why?" I raised a brow at him,

He was at a loss of words, "would you stop raising questions on each word u say?" He said,

I ignored him and went back to working, "I am not hungry," I said.

He kept looking at me, gazing intently at my eyes. The intensity of his gaze always combust the pack of fackuting butterflies within, therefore I averted my gaze.

"Jenna, this isn't funny. You haven't had anything" he said, his voice very serious and... concerned? My eyes automatically lifted upto his and they showed were filled with sincerity and determination, like he would make me eat it. Keep trying pretty boy.

"I-I uh I'm not hungry." I stammered, his gaze, his eyes do that to me. I was already hungry and him being handsome wasn't helping even a bit. I groaned which tended to widen his eyes a bit and they turned a but darker.

He sighed and walked towards me with the bag, I suddenly stood up in alarm, he didn't stop and walked towards me. Dang! Angry bird, do you realize I might scarf you down plus you smell delicious too and now you are reaching towards me offering to be engulfed. Oh God cannibalistic much?

I took steps backward with each he took forward. It seemed like a slow chase but I was ultimately trapped against the wall behind me.

He came too close to me, closer in a proximity where whenever he comes in, my mind stops working and I have this urge to hold him closer to me forever, never to let go and my empty stomach did no good to keep myself tamed.

I kept staring at him, adamant that I won't back down and I was doing a pretty decent job until my stomach growled so loudly like it was hit by a thunder. I squealed, "it wasn't fart, I swear" I suddenly rushed out and he stood there amused.

Seriously Jenna did you have to say something? I blushed profusely.

One of his hand plastered around the sides of my head holding me still. He did something with the packet he was carrying with the other hand, I couldn't transfer my gaze to look there because I was so entranced in his eyes but the sound of paper crumbling told be there was something to be concerned with the paper bag,

He raised a chicken nugget with his right hand close to my mouth, "Open up" he said in a smooth voice as if he was talking to a little kid feeding them food by mimicking it being a plane.

I squeezed my lips tighter and shook my head,

"Jenna!" he warned in a voice that was playfully threatening, I shook my head again. He had held it close to my face and the smell of it was driving me insane, making me drool like crazy within my zipped lips.

I am pretty sure my eyes must be all black in the love of the nugget. I held my emotions in and kept a straight face.

He clasped a hold of my cheeks with a gentle yet firm grip and squashed them, catching me off guard. My lips firmed into a duck face and he stuffed the nugget in my mouth and held my jaw in place.

"I can even make you chew it," he said when I did no effort in trying to move it in my mouth. I kept glaring daggers at him, but man the nugget was delicious.

I don't usually like wasting food but I never wanted to listen to him so I decided to spit it out, before I could do, he already sensed my plan and said "If you spit it out, I'll decrease the deadline of the presentation. Your call" I instantly dropped the plan and started chewing it.

"I thought the deal was meant only for work." I glared at him some more.

"I'm sticking with work, I'm threatening you with it."

"How very thoughtful of you," I said annoyed but internally I felt so at peace after eating it and quenching my hunger.

See, I was right to give him a chance, he isn't really that bad. He could me my... friend?

An idea suddenly popped in my mind and I decided to put it to use when he asked me to eat more and I refused.

"One's not enough" he almost, almost whined, well stoically whined, he's so stiff, I swear. He said,

"I can't eat them without barbeque sauce" I replied pouting. He frowned at me

He dug in the packet and fished it out holding me with his other hand, thinking that I would run away, "here, now eat"

"Open it, pretty please" I said batting my lashes at him.

He peeled the tin seal from over the plastic container and before he could any more I raised it towards his face and pressed the sides of the plastic.

The barbeque sauce jumped upward and it covered his nose in a big brown glob. I clasped my lips tight to keep myself from laughing but I laughed so hard that it started hurting my sides and my eyes were almost tearing up. Every time I looked at him, he'd appear funnier.

I took a nugget swiped the sauce of his nose with it and ate it all the while laughing like an idiot.

He looked over at me, a glint in his eyes and they were a lighter shade, looking beautiful. His eyes are so breathtaking when they are lighter.

He bent forward coming close to me, my breath hitched and the humor died, my heart beat picked up as I kept gazing in his eyes, the very ones that seem to dissolve me whole, when he brushed his nose against mine and pulled back.

I felt a slimy sticky substance dripping of my nose. This sly jerk. His face was relaxed and he chuckled at me.

He chuckled.

HE FREAKING CHUCKLED.

Am I dreaming? Is he real? Is this moment real?

His chuckle was so beautiful. A voice so beautiful that you'd want to listen to it forever and have it play in your head, he looked genuinely happy. A kind if happy where there were crinkles by his eyes.

The laugh had brought a strange feeling in me and I wanted to have him laugh more even if it was at my own expanse.

His eyes were the softest green I've ever witnessed, melting in the hazel specks making them visible and glowing.

His strong voice had me melting and further did no support in pulling me out of my already gawking state. He looked ethereal. Almost dream like.

I stood paralyzed just having an eyeful view of his laughing face. He looked so unharmed, like a little kid. So carefree and so giving. He looked new, a person I hadn't known and he might not know himself. His head was slightly tipped backward as he laughed and I was just engulfed in the beauty of the moment.

Like a junkie to a new drug, I was indecently salivating over the man who'd so proudly made people hate him so much. Why? Still unknown.

In that moment what I saw had me confident about my decision of being friends with him. He is so much inside than he leads on. I somehow had this weird desire to be there inside, to know and see him, not the way he showcases himself to be seen as, but from the perspective where he's hidden himself and his real attributes from even himself and the world.

He looked over at me and I started acting regular not wanting to let him feel awkward or out of place. He's laughed finally and it would only be okay if I let him feel like its normal and not create awkward scenario for him.

I dipped my finger in the plastic container and smeared it on his face, he frowned and glared playfully at me and he did the same too until we were out of barbeque sauces and both of us had brown saucy masks over our faces.

His laugh was contagious it made me laugh so hard that I had hard time catching my breath which in someway humored him more.

We were still against the glass wall, our faces dripping but the laughs echoing were priceless, in between this fight he'd made me eat all of the nuggets. Even I had the chance to stuff a few in his mouth while he was laughing to make the situation more comical and partially because I hardly see the guy eating something.

Maybe it was him or the moment or something in the nuggets that I was doing every weird thing I could think of just to make the man infront of me to keep laughing and I regretted my actions not even one bit.

I didn't want him to stop and I didn't want that laughter, that happiness to die. He looked so beautiful, so glowing and I wanted him to remain that way, forever.

Strangely, I wanted to be the cause of bringing happiness to him. I shook my head at the thought. What's wrong with me?

I had rested my arm in his shoulder while bowing down to catch my breath and he had a grip round my waist to stabilize me, all the while both of us were laughing without the care of anything, pretty much lost in our own bubble.

Don't ask how it proceeded to that limit but that is how Ken had caught us.
