DAY TWENTY-NINE: FIVE WEIRD THINGS THAT YOU LIKE

This is a difficult one to answer, because what even is "weird"? I had to think about it for a long time before arriving at some conclusions, and some of the original ones I thought of are too personal or embarrassing to use, so I had to think of more weird things. I tried.

1. Rice Pudding
I don't think it's weird to like rice pudding by any stretch of the imagination, but when I was growing up, I liked it so much that my mom would include it in my lunch sometimes. And every time I ate it, people would say "You like tapioca? That's gross!" Apparently nobody knows what rice pudding even is. It's not tapioca, and as far as I'm concerned, tapioca IS gross. Rice pudding is sweet and has a light and subtle flavor.

2. Way too Much Ketchup/Mayonnaise/Parmesan Cheese
I put extra ketchup on my burgers and sometimes dip the burger in ketchup, I like way too much mayo on my sandwiches (and I like some on my burger bun, too), and I drown anything with a tomato sauce in Parmesan cheese. I don't taste very well, mostly I've got an awful sense of smell, so it takes more of something for me to be able to taste and appreciate it. As a result, I abuse condiments.

3. Thunderstorms
I don't like being rained on or being stuck inside, but I LOVE thunder and lightning. It's been raining a lot lately where I live— for the last month or two, it's been either "it's 94 degrees outside" or "it's been thunderstorms for four straight days" and nothing in between. The storms cause a lot of problems (like major federal-emergency-level flooding, for instance), but I LOVE watching the lightning through the huge glass windows at the front of the store while I'm at work. I get distracted from doing my actual job because my face is glued to the glass :'D

4. Vocaloid
It's kind of an embarrassingly "weaboo" thing to like in general, but I don't really care about that. I think they're cute and love a lot of their songs and love the animated music videos. I actually have a whole playlist of them in my iTunes library. It's got like a hundred songs and counting. Because I usually acquire them by illegally converting YouTube videos, I get to title them and stuff myself, and I totally credit the song to the Vocaloid rather than the producer. It just makes it easier for me to find specific songs. I also used to find album art to use for each song, but when I had to clear my phone and computer at one point, I lost all of those and I'm too lazy to start over.
I literally even listen to Vocaloid covers of songs by other Vocaloid covers (resulting in me having like six versions of the same goddamn song), and even covers of regular songs sometimes. I've also sort of mentally assigned personalities and traits to each of the ones I know of/listen to (I mostly know of and listen to what I consider to be the "main eight"— Miku, Rin, Len, Luka, Kaito, Meiko, Gakupo, and Gumi) and ship some of them together. Gakupo and Luka are my favorite pair/ship, specifically. If I have to pick favorite Vocaloids, my favorite guys are Gakupo and Kaito and Len and my favorite girls and Luka and Miku.
I also recently best every song in Project Mirai DX, and boy is that a wholesome cheer-you-up kind of game. Even if I nearly died beating Matryoshka at the highest difficulty, even when I only managed a C. The game also totally introduced me to a couple of songs I didn't really know or appreciate yet (particularly Hello, How Are You?)

5. Watching Different People Play the Same Games Over and Over Again
I love watching let's plays of Danganronpa 1 and 2, of Hatoful Boyfriend, and of the first Ace Attorney Game. Doki Doki Literature Club is a fun one too. But at this point, I know each game so well that I don't even properly watch the whole playthrough. I just skip around to the good dramatic bits. It's very interesting how differently people interpret these games. Danganronpa relies heavily on the cast of characters, knowing that different people will get attached to and interact with different ones and experience the game very differently. And that's really interesting to watch. Everyone either loves or hates Kiyotaka, for instance (I LOVE HIM TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH, WHAT A GOOD BOY). I watched one guy play it that was infuriating, because he thought the first two executions were totally justified and that the killers were heartless monsters who got what was coming to them, but felt sympathy and understanding for murderer number three, the only one of the bunch to truly commit premeditated first-degree murder, resulting in the deaths of not one but two people, and for money. People familiar with the first DR game will know who and what I'm talking about and will likely go "WHAT?!"
Anyway, Danganronpa is becoming a very popular series to do LPs of, and there are channels that just compile the death and execution reactions. I really appreciate those for giving me new LPs to watch! The "test" I always use is skipping ahead to the compilation of the second game and seeing how they react to the second execution. If they cry or scream, they're my kind of Let's Player. ;)

DAY THIRTY: ONE THING YOU ARE EXCITED FOR

I'm excited to continue writing! Three of my current stories are nearing completion. I want to finish at least one of them so I can start on my Voltron AU idea. I don't want to overwhelm myself too much, you know?

The feeling of finishing a long story is really rewarding. As a visual artist, I almost never finish my pictures and I'm never satisfied with the end result. And even after all those hours of work, there's not much to show for it. It's a picture. People look at it and move on. On DeviantArt, I get the occasional fave, but people rarely leave any feedback.

Writing is different. It requires the reader to invest themselves into a whole world and connect with characters and pick up on plot details and foreshadowing. I also have to put a lot more of myself into it. As a result, people leave me lots of really nice and really long comments over on AO3, and I love it!

I'm currently entered in a few contests, mostly because I want some frickin reads for my two original works already (people come here for the fanfics), and hopefully that'll go pretty well. I still haven't gotten much feedback on my original stuff, and making something up from scratch is weirdly terrifying. I don't have to worry too much about things like world building in fanfiction. Original stuff is different, particularly because one of my current original stories is a contemporary fantasy and relies heavily on the strange world it's set in.

That's it, I'm finished! 30 Days done. I accidentally forgot a couple, though, so it's more like 32 days.

Also bryblooms Wattpad wouldn't let me comment on it because it hates me and my iPad is old garbage, but I saw that fuckin leggy Lance and all I have to say is "what have you D O N E"
