Lucid
"Hawn are you OK?" Andy asked as he stood over her.
"No, IDIOT, I'm bleeding!" Hawnlica yelled as she held her nose and slide down the steps and onto her backside.
"You're such an idiot" she slowly claimed whilst now facing her sibling.
"Well, sorry" he muttered under breath whilst looking to his left.
"You should be! It's my birthday tomorrow, the one day I get to go out with money I've had to save up, and now, I'm gonna have a bust nose and probably a black eye! I'll look like I've been jumped!" she yelled as removed her hand from below her nostrils.
"Can't ya just put make-up on it, like you girls normally do?" he asked.
"Erm, obviously! But I have to ration make-up these days because I'm BROKE!" she snapped...
"Well.. " he trailed off; thinking, trying to think of something to say
"You really know when to pick your moments don't you" Hawnlica claimed...
"In fact... " Hawnlica perking up, getting up to grabbing Andy's arm with her not so stained hand...
"You should compensate me, atleast twenty quid and we'll call it a birthday gift".
"YOU'RE GETTIN' BLOOD ON ME" he yelled.
"WOULD YOU TWO SHUT UP!" roared their mothers voice behind a closed door.
"I wouldn't have bust my nose if you hadn't left your coat on the stairs" Hawnlica reminded her brother in a hushed tone.
"Yeah well..."
"Well compo' And', and we forget about this" she interupted
He though for a moment..
"Tenner" he offered
"Twenty five, and I'll call it a gift, thirty, and I'll... tell my girlfriends to follow your page" Hawnlica reasoned.
"Really!" he suddenly rushed; switching to a startled disposition before returning to the former...
"Which ones?" he asked.
"All of them! You can't afford to be fussy can you?" Hawnlica replied
She watched her brother; in silence he glanced upwards in though.
She knew she had won, but added more...
"And I don't ask, I tell"
"Fine! I'll pass it to you tomorrow in a card, we'll call it a birthday gift and you don't tell mum or dad I lost my job, or the offers off Hawn, OK!" he offered.
"Deal" Hawnlica said as she straightened up before offering her soiled hand to her brother.
"No" he rebuked "Yeah to the deal, no to shaking on it" he explained as he backed away, heading towards the front door and clasping the Yale lock...
"And you better stick to your side of the bargain".
"You too" she replied as her brother left without a word.
'Well, that worked out fine, I'm in the money! Pretty sad how it's taken this to get a birthday present off the kid though, but, oh well'
Hawnlica though as re-directed to the downstairs bathroom with a slight bounce in her step.
'And I ration makeup for special occasions anyway'
Whilst lounging in bed, nostrils stuffed with toilet paper, a popular song from a few years back began playing - Hawnlica's mobile phone ringtone.
"Oh what!" she sighed "Best not be Layla cancelling on me" she quizzed as she reached into her pants pocket and pulled out the device.
Unknown number.
"Hel...lo" Hawnlica asked hesitantly.
"Hello, is this Hawn, Likka? Esters next of kin?" asked the female caller.
"YEAH, yeah it is, what happened to her!" Hawnlica almost shouted as her pulse increased and she grasped her blanket without realising.
"Oh, she's, fine. She's doing great actually and she's asked to speak with you over the phone" the lady claimed.
'I think I lost too much blood earlier, Because this isn't real? Yeah, maybe I fell asleep and I'm dreaming?'
She pondered internally before replying...
"Infact!" she sprung to her feet, swaying as a result of dizziness, holding her head with her free hand.
"Yeah, I'll speak to her now" she said as ran downstairs...
An "OK" was heard over the phone.
Hawnlica bounded into the living room, crashing through the door to gain entry and landing on a sleeping person on a coach.
"MUM!" she shouted towards a waking woman.
"What... in the hell do.. you want... child" came her mother's disorientated reply.
"Ester's about to speak to me on the phone" she replied as she placed herself on the ground in front of her mother on the couch.
She put her cell phone on speaker.
"Hello, hello Hawnlica, you there" spoke a wizened old voice.
"Yeah, I am, you OK" Hawnlica replied.
"Yes, considering... I just wanted to know if you had received your gift" the mature voice asked.
"Yeah, I have thanks" Hawnlica excitedly replied " I haven't opened it, it's not my birthday 'till tomorrow"
"I know, I just assumed you'd do what I would do and open it, are you she you haven't..." the pensioner asked in an inquisitive tone.
"No, why, should I open it?" the teen replied in a similar tone.
"I'd say so, before the stores close..." came the reply with an air of mystery.
"OK, I will" Hawnlica said.
"Good, I'm sure we shall have a great chat about it next time we meet" the old lady claimed
"Oh really?.." Hawnlica humorously trailed off.
"Goodbye Hawnlica" the woman replied.
"Oh, you're going? Well, see you..." he phone cut off before Hawnlica could finish.
She sat up straight, speechless for a moment, before regaining her senses...
"So, mum, what do ya think..."
Zzz
Her mother was fast asleep.
Hawnlica's face dropped...
'I'm sure I'm being trolled, trolled by my elders'
