Omkara took a sigh of relief as he finally found his one-month-old wife on the roof garden. She was sitting on her favorite spot, the hanging swing.

He walked to her as he observed her. Dressed in a bathrobe, her messy loosen traces of thick hairs were flying lightly with the night breeze, while her sight was directed to the moonless night as if searching something. He stopped beside her for a few moments to see if she objects his presence.

Finding no response from her, he then sat beside her and stared at her. The faint traces of tears were still visible on her pale face while her swollen lips were depicting the intensity of love showered on them. His gaze went to her hand that was tightly clutching a tiny statue of Shankar God, which was gifted to her on their wedding day.

"Gauri..." Omkara began but Gauri intervened.

"Omkara, if you are here to talk about...," He heard Gauri sighing and hugging the statue close to her heart as if she was getting energy from it, "about what happened between us tonight, I . . . I am just not in the mood to talk about it. It was a mistake." Gauri said in a calm voice, without meeting his gaze.

He replied in an equally calm voice, gently placing his hand on her locked hands, "A mistake I will never regret."

Did I hear, right? Gauri questioned herself, and then she looked at him in shock.

This was perhaps another one of the mistakes she did this night. First was her marriage with him, getting close to his family, and now being intimate with him. The intensity in his eyes, the determination, and seriousness on his face made her trembled in exactly the same manner when he stole her first kiss this evening. He wasn't fooling around with her, and he declared this to her clearly through his words and actions, but she didn't sign up for this. The emotional and physical attachment wasn't a part of their contract marriage.

Tearing her sight away from him, she took a deep breath while her grip on her Shankar God statue became more firm as she gathered her overwhelming emotions.

"Are you mad?" Her question sounded more like a taunt.

"Yes, I am, for you." Omkara whispered, getting closed to her but she jerked his hold and stood up.

Gauri chuckled as if gone mad and then turned serious, "It's not funny, Omkara. Don't kid with a person who is dying." It hurts. She uttered the last sentence to her haywire heart.

Out of impulse, he hugged her while she stand stiff and astonished. "Don't Gauri. Don't speak of death. I won't let anything happen to you, I promise."

His last two words made her feel a myriad of emotions, from shock to being ecstatic, of being cared for, and wanted by someone. It's been a while she felt these warm emotions, but they didn't last long as the reality of her illness and few days of life crashed on her. His confession felt like pity than support, and her wayward emotions transformed into anger. She pushed him away from her.

"You have gone crazy. Are you even listening to yourself? This is not you. What is happening to you, Omkara?" She pushed him away again as if distance would calm her and blasted on him, trying to make him see the reality where he was running after an illusion. She wanted to be away from him, but he caught her wrist in her next attempt.

"I think I am falling in love with you." He said, taking a step toward her, his eyes shining on his determined face, making her take a step back in fear.

"Stop it!" She exclaimed loudly, pointing at him. But he didn't stop because he could read her eyes and body language that was trying hard to convince about her straight lie. He knew she was in denial, but an Oberoi never gives up, and he continued professing his love.

"I am falling in love with you, Mrs. Gauri Omkara Singh Oberoi." This was beyond her strength to bear and process. His confession made her lose her senses for few moments as she stumbled to stand, her senses were clouded and she crashed on the floor.

"Gauri." She heard a faint voice in her ears that were ringing with an irritating buzz. He looked at her in complete disbelief. He rushed to get a glass of water for her and made her drink.

"Are you ok?" His heart was at his throat.

She burst into tears on his caring gestures, which she knew were true for her. He hugged her, and she clutched his shirt with the remaining energy she could muster as she cried her heart out. She cried on the game that her fate was playing with life and death. She cried on her helplessness of unable to do anything about it. She cried on her luck for finally finding someone who really wants her. She cried on her misery of having very little time to cherish this. And then she just cried for herself and him.

Tears slipped from his eyes as well as he felt her pain and content. He held her close to his heart as much as he can and then took her into their room.

They didn't leave each other as they rested on their bed. He followed the path to make love to her face, which he took before. This time she was in her complete senses as he kissed her lips softly. She sighed as he kept making love to her lips and didn't remember when fatigue took over her overwhelmed body, and she drifted to another restless sleep. He caressed her rosy cheeks and dropped a kiss on her temple as he realized she was asleep. He wiped his tears eyes so that he could stare her with clarity.

Love just happens. It takes a flicker of the moment, and then you are really gone because love become life and death situation. And, this has come true for him.

I will hold you in my heart until I can hold you again in heaven.
