00 - Escaping

"C'mon! We have to keep going!"

I heard the girl behind me shout as I was already short of breath. Dashing through the trees as it was hard to make out anything.

"Silver... wait up..!" I slowed down a bit, not by much as my mind and heart was racing. Putting a hand against the bark of a tree, I look behind me. The girl had stopped in her tracks as she was panting – clearly out of breath.

Letting out a groan of sheer annoyance, I backtrack to get back to her. "You just said we had to keep going, and now you're stopping." I said as my eyes narrowed lightly. We were both stopped while I was starting to hear footsteps. "Green, if we don't start going.."

"I know... I know.." The girl said as she sounded helpless by now. "

I was thinking for a moment before I looked at the girl again. "Get on my back. Hurry it up." I said as I had turned around. Crouching down as I slowly feel the weight of her come onto my back and shoulders. Staring at the darkness as I stood up. Going a bit slow so as to not get off balance. 'I know he was weak... but... argh it doesn't matter!' I thought and quickly shook my head.

It felt as if I had to run for hours. I was loopy, barely able to stay on my feet as I collapsed to the ground. Breaths were short and harsh as it felt like my heart was going to explode.

"You've overdone yourself." Green said as she rubbed her eyes. Grimacing at the light of the sunrise coming across the horizon.

The only thing I could do was shake my head at her words. I knew I had to keep going, driving my body to its limits. I could feel her eyes staying onto me as I had shut my own. Unable to deal with the sun's harsh light that was coming into my view.

"Looks like it's my turn to help you.. again." She said as she had grabbed my shoulders. Stopping my weak attempts to get to my feet.

"Jigglypuff. Use Sing."

Slowly, I started hearing the normal-type's melody. It was entrancing. My thoughts were lost as I felt my body growing heavy. Unable to open my eyes again as I was swaying. I barely felt it as my body gave out entirely.

——————————————

After that day, I swore that I would become stronger. I would, no, I will become the strongest trainer in existence.

"Silver?" A voice cut me out of my trance as I blinked. Looking up a bit as Green stood there. Smiling sweetly at me as I crack a small smile back.

"Don't be like that! You act like we're not going to see each other again!" The girl said as she quickly grabbed my shoulders. Kindly shaking me as I went to swat her hands off of me. "I'm not, I'm not!" I shouted a bit as my eyes flickered towards the ground. "I've got a lot on my mind right now. Especially with you going back to Kanto." I said as I sighed heavily. Knowing just how happy Green's going to be, especially after we figured out where her parents were. She's been trying to pester me about figuring out about my own parents. Though, I don't have that much of a care about figuring that out.

The elongated noise of the boat's horn causes Green to quickly look over. "Ah! I've got to get going before I miss it!" She said quickly before looking towards her Pokemon. "Jigglypuff! It's time to go!" She called out as I gazed over to check up on my own Pokémon.

A ball-shaped Pokémon started running over. Their large, blue eyes watching its trainer I noticed the curled tuft of fur bouncing with every step.

The other Pokémon ran along with it as their bluish black coat shimmered with the sunlight. Swiftly coming to a stop behind Jigglypuff. The limber Pokémon jumped a couple of times as its claws reached Green.

"Awww! Okay one more hug Sneasel." She said as she scooped the Pokémon up. Giving them a quick hug as the clawed Pokémon leapt down afterwards. The Pokémon grinning as it fixed the singular feather on its shortened ear. Whilst it shook the other three acting as a tail to fix the ruffles that were in it.

"Green." I said to get the girl's attention. Having remembered something as I tossed my backpack to the ground. Crouching down and unzipping it as the girl looked curiously in my direction. "Huh? Silver you know I have to..-"

"I'm trying to hurry! I don't want to have to mail it to you." I said before I found it. "Aha!" I said as I quickly pulled it out.

It was a set of clothes. Wrapped up with ribbon with a bow on top. "Here. A parting gift." I said as I went to hand it to her. The girl's eyes instantly lit up with joy as she gently took the clothes from my hands. "Ooh!! Silver, I love them!" She said as she quickly went in to hug me. Almost tripping in the process as my hand went to grab her arm just in case that happened. "I'll try them on as soon as I get home!" She said as she squeezed me.

Only wishing this moment could last longer as another loud horn made us both flinch.

"Ehe... yea that's definitely my cue." She said as she looked towards the ship. She exhaled as she scooped up her Jigglypuff with a saddened smile. "For real now, this will never be a proper goodbye. We will see each other again, I can feel it." Green said as she gazed at me for a second. She tried to brighten up the smile as I knew that wasn't going to work.

"You can count on it." I said with a confident nod. Attempting to successfully lift the brown-haired girl's spirits as she dashed off towards the ship.

"I think it's time for us to go as well." I said after me and my Pokémon watched the ship leave with Green onboard. Looking down towards the Sharp Claw Pokémon as they nodded. Itching around their neck lightly as the oval-shaped gems on their chest and head gleamed in the sunlight. "C'mon, Sneasel. We have a long walk to go through."

"Snea!"

I'm going to keep my promise to her.

I will become the strongest.

I will see her again.

And, I won't allow anything to stand in my way.
