Chapter 9: Learning the Truth

The next day, Lord Hokage held a funeral for my family. When the funeral was over, people started to leave as I stayed where I was. My hair covered my eyes as I stared at my family's grave.

"I'm sorry for your loss, Eita." Lord Third said as he placed his hand on my shoulder. I didn't say anything as I stood there.

It started to rain, but I didn't care. "Eita, you should go home befkre you catch a cold," Lord Third adviced. I slowly shook my head, telling him I didn't want to go home. "I've already had the house cleaned up for you."

"That's very considerate of you, Lord Third. But even if the blood is cleaned up... even if the house looks like nothing ever happened... it still won't be the same without them." I said in a low voice.

I walked away as it began to rain to death. I went to a cherry blossom tree and sat beneath its petals. The spot I sat in was heavily shaded, so it protected me from most of the rain. Eventually, I fell asleep there.

The next day, I woke up to a little girl gently poking my cheek with a stick. "Are you dead, Mister?" She asked. "No, but I wish I was." I answered before standing to my feet. "Why are you out here by yourself? Where's your parents?" I asked her.

"My mommy is just over there," She pointed to a woman who was with a merchant. "Then, I saw you here and thought I'd come check on you." The little girl said with a smile. "That was very thoughtful of you, Little girl. But you shouldn't talk to strangers. It's dangerous." I informed.

"But you're not a stranger. You're just a boy." She stated. "That's not what I-"

"Hey, leave her alone!" The little girl's mother ran over to us and snatched her off her feet. "Don't you hurt my baby girl!" The mother yelled at me. "But he wasn't hurting me, Mommy. I was just talking with him." The little girl defended.

"Never mind. Let's go home." The mother said before leaving. "Sweetie, I told you not to talk to that boy. He's very dangerous." I heard the mother whisper to her daughter. "Dangerous?" I repeated, quietly.

"Ignore them, Eita. She's just being a jerk." Inari said. "Yeah... I guess." I somewhat agreed before walking away. "Eita, wait up!" I stopped walking and turned around as Naruto ran over to me. He hugged me tightly and I glanced at him from the corner of my eye.

"I heard what happened. I'm so sorry." Naruto. apologized. "Don't be. It's not your fault." I mumbled before gazing at the ground.

"Eita, don't you think you should tell him the truth now?" Inari asked. "Why?" I muttered to her. "Well, he's gotta know the truth sooner or later. I mean, come on. Do you honestly want him to grow up and not know the relationship you had with his parents?" She asked.

I sighed. "I guess it is time to tell him." I said aloud. "Huh? Did you say something, Eita?" Naruto asked as he broke the hug. "Yes... I did." I confirmed, then looked at him. "Naruto, please look into my eye." I said. "Huh? Your eye?" He repeated.

I took off the eyepatch, revealing Inari's eye. "This eye." I confirmed as I stared into his blue eyes. When Naruto looked at her eye, I brought him into my head.

(*Inside Eita's Mind*)

I stood in front of Naruto as I noticed Kurama behind him. "Eita, where are we?" Naruto asked me. "Inside my head. This is also the place where you can talk to Kurama. Naruto, there's something I needed to show you." I said.

Inari stood behind me in her human form as she smirked at Kurama. He growled as he glared at Inari. "Hello, Brother. Long time no see." Inari greeted. "Brother?! Wait, what's going on?!" Naruto asked, confused.

"Naruto, as you already know, you hold the Nine-Tailed Fox inside you. I, as well, also hold the Nine-Tailed Fox. However, this is his opposite. Or in this case, Kurama's sister." I explained. "The Nine Tails... sister?" Naruto repeated. "Yes." I confirmed.

"Hello, Naruto Uzumaki. It's nice to finally meet you in person." Inari greeted while giving a bow.

She faced Kurama and smirked while he only growled at her with a frown. "What do you want, Inari?" Kurama demanded. "What? I can't say hello to my own brother?" She asked with a dark smile.

"Not when my sister acted like a bitch 6 years ago." He stated. "At least I'm not the one behind bars." Inari smirked. "Shut up, whore!" Kurama snapped. Inari's smile faded as she glared at Kurama before transforming into her fox form.

She was about the same size as Kurama as her eyes glowed bright blue. "You better watch who you're speaking to, Brother! I still have the power to freeze your sorry ass!" Inari snapped. "Stop arguing. Both of you." I ordered.

"Eita, I don't understand. I don't get what all of this means." Naruto said. I stared at him as I waited for him to put the pieces together. "Wait... if you also have a tailed beast, and these guys are siblings, what does that make us?" Naruto asked.

"Naruto... For a long time, I've known your parents, and your parents knew mine. They bonded and became great friends. I love your parents very much as they were my family." I explained.

"Wait... Are you saying we're relatives?" Naruto asked. "Something like that. You are my godbrother, Naruto." I confessed. "For real? Are you serious?" Naruto asked with a wide eyes, in which I nodded.

I was nearly knocked off my feet when Naruto hugged me unexpectedly.

"This is awesome! I never knew I had family! And you were here all along! I'm so glad you told me this!" Naruto said, excitedly. I smiled and hugged him back. "I'm glad you're happy, Naruto." I stated with a calm smile before closing my eyes.

"How touching." Kurama said, sarcastically. "Shut up, will you? This is beautiful." Inari argued with him. Naruto and I looked at the two of them and chuckled at their behavior. 'Let's go home.' I thought. I closed my eyes and brought us out of my mind.

(*Outside Eita's Mind*)

Naruto and I exited my mind, standing in front of one another. "Looks like we're in the same boat now. Now, I'm an orphan." I said as tears filled the brim of my eyes. "Don't worry, Eita. I'm here for you, I promise." Naruto said, trying to cheer me up.

"Thanks... Naruto." I said, giving a small smile.

Later that day, Naruto treated me to ramen to cheer me up some more. I tried to smile for him, but it's hard when you're mourning over your family's death. I was depressed, but if I had Naruto with me, I guess I'll be alright.

I never thought I would lose my family like this. I didn't think it would end like this. How could this have happened? Who would kill them? Why did they kill them? I just don't understand...

Who do you think killed Eita's parents? If you get it right, I'd dedicate a chapter to you in this book. Good luck :)
