Chapter 6: Angel
I went to class the next day without Teruko because I wanted to walk by myself. Eventually, Dad was gonna find out about my suicide attempt and he's not gonna be happy. I still don't know why I should be a ninja. Naruto's not gonna be there, so what's the point?
I sighed to myself and headed to class. When I entered the room, I was surprised to see Naruto. "No way..." I ran over to him. "Naruto?" I said.
"Huh? Hey, Eita! What's up? You're a bit late today," Naruto greeted with a smile. "Hey, you got a headband, too! That's awesome!"
"I don't understand. You didn't pass, yet you're here." I said. "I know! Isn't it great! I've gotta tell you all about it! Have a seat!" Naruto said.
I took my seat next to him and he told me the story of how he got his headband. But he left out the part about him being the Nine-Tails.
"That's some story, Naruto." I commented. "Isn't it? It's so cool!" Naruto said. I smiled at him and petted his head. "Well, I'm glad you were able to graduate. It makes me happy." I said. I noticed a tint of pink on Naruto's cheeks and he grinned at me.
"By the way, I noticed you were a but late coming in today. Is everything okay?" Naruto asked, the color on his cheeks disappearing. "Yeah, I just overslept. Don't worry, I'll be fine." I assured him.
Later on, some commotion started with Naruto when he began glaring at Sasuke, and things took a wrong turn when someone bumped Naruto from behind, making him kiss Sasuke. A lot of girls got angry and were ready to beat up Naruto.
"What's all the commotion out there? What happening?" Inari asked. "Someone bumped Naruto from behind and made him kiss Sasuke. Now some girls are angry at him for it." I explained to her. "I don't get why their getting so worked up over it. It's just a kiss." Inari said.
I looked over at Naruto, noticing the girls were ready to beat him up. I didn't want Naruto getting hurt, but I also didn't want to get involved. However, Naruto is still important to me, so I have no choice but to get involved.
"Inari, I need you to lend me some of your chakra." I whispered. "I think I know where this is going." Inari replied with a smirk. Once she lent me her chakra, I turned my attention towards the angry girls. "Snow Style: Frozen Wind."
I blew air towards the girls and turned into ice. The whole class gasped as they saw the girls frozen. "Look at their faces! Priceless!" Inari laughed. "At least now they're quiet. I hate fangirls." I mumbled.
After Iruka-sensei came in, he saw what I had did and wanted me to undo the jutsu. "Why? They'll thaw out in two hours. Plus, it's a lot more quiet in here." I said. "Undo the jutsu. Now, Eita." Iruka ordered.
I rolled my eyes with a sigh and did what he said. "Just what I was starting to enjoy the peace and quiet." I mumbled. After I unfroze the annoying fangirls, Iruka-sensei called out the squads. I ended up on Squad 8 with Kiba, Hinata, and Shino.
I was a little disappointed because I wanted to be on the same team as Naruto. Iruka said, that we would meet our jonin teacher after lunch. 'Spectacular.' I thought, sarcastically. When it was lunchtime, everyone left the classroom while I stayed inside.
I didn't feel like eating with my new team. I gazed out the window, bored out of my mind. "Don't tell me you plan sitting her all day until your jonin teacher arrives." Inari said. "Well, what do you suggest I do?" I mumbled.
"Go outside! Go on a walk! Do something! Anything! Don't just sit there like a lazy sloth!"
"You don't have to yell."
She sighed. "You're so dull, Eita."
"I know."
I sighed and left the classroom, deciding to take Inari's advice. It's actually pretty boring to be sitting there in that classroom alone. I walked around the village with my hands in my pockets as I didn't know what to do.
I think I spaced out for a while, but I definitely snapped out of it when I found myself in the woods. "Inari, you knew where I was walking, right?" I asked. "Yeah." She answered. "So, why didn't you say anything when I spaced out?" I asked, deadpanning.
"Because I wanted to have this lovely conversation with you." Inari replied, sarcastically. I rolled my eyes at her comment and looked around, trying to figure out how to get back to the village.
"Dammit, Inari. I really wish you would've said something. I'm completely lost." I said. "Sor-ry." She mumbled. I sighed. "Now what do we do?"
"I know! I could just teleport us back to the house!"
"No, don't do that!"
"Relax, I got this!"
"Inari, don't!"
But she ignored me and teleported us. But instead of teleporting us to the house like she planned, she teleported us into another village!
"Whoops." Inari said. "This is why I told you not to teleport! You've struggled with that technique even before we were frozen! Now, look what you did!" I nagged. "Okay, Drama Queen. No need to nag. Maybe we can ask around and find out where were are." She suggested.
"Mom always said, not to talk to strangers." I mumbled. "Well, in the situation we're in, it looks like we don't have much of a choice." Inari replied. I sighed and walked forward, deciding to ask around. But the village we were in seemed deserted and lonely. Plus, it was raining.
"Do you even know where you're going?" Inari asked. "No. This place is so deserted, I don't see a single person in sight." I said, taking off my eyepatch so Inari could see what I was seeing. "Wow, this place looks creepy. Is there anyone even alive out here?" She asked.
What village are we in? Why is there nobody around? I cupped my hands around my mouth and called out, "Hello? Is anyone here?"
"I'm here." I turned around and gasped as a woman with white wings floated above me. "An angel...?" I whispered. "What's the matter?" The woman asked. "Uh... Well, I... um..." I was so distracted by her wings, I couldn't find my words.
"You're a bit young to walking around here on your own." She mentioned. "Huh? No, I'm not." I denied. The woman smiled and settled herself on the ground as her eyes went from me to my headband. "You're from the Leaf." She noticed.
"Yes." I said, nodding my head. "How did you get from there to here?" She asked. "It's kind of a weird story. In fact, I don't think you'll believe me if I told you." I said.
"Hmm... Very well. Then, let's make a deal."
"Deal? What sort of deal?"
"I'll take you back to your village. In return, I'd like you to tell me how you got here. For a Leaf Village ninja, I trust you used a Teleportation Jutsu."
"Not exactly. Okay, I'll accept your deal."
The woman smiled and held her hand out to me. I took her hand and a surprised yelp escaped my throat when she pulled me into her arms and took off into the sky. "Whoa!" I held onto her tightly as we were high above the sky, flying through the clouds.
"I take it you've never been this high off the ground before?" The woman asked. "No, ma'am." I answered, my eyes glued to the ground. I looked back at her and gasped when I saw she had paper-like wings on her back.
"An angel..." I whispered. "Did you say something?" She asked.
"Are you an angel?"
She giggled at my comment. "In a way." She answered.
We were in the air for another 45 minutes until I spotted the Leaf Village. "Could you fly down towards the woods please?" I requested. "Of course." She said, and flew towards the woods. "Thank you very much." I said, politely, while bowing my head.
"No problem. Now, how did you get into the Rain Village?" She asked. "Well... Ma'am, can you keep a secret?"
"Yes."
I fiddled with my hands as I was nervous to tell the kind lady the truth. "Miss, I'm... I'm not human." I said. "Come again?" The woman was confused as she wasn't sure what I meant by that statement. "I'm... Well... Here, let me show you."
I used Inari's powers and created a blue flame in my hand, and created a blue bird necklace.
"You see, I'm the Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails' opposite. Only, Inari does not hold anger. She holds sorrow. With her power, I'm able to make anything out of blue flames, ice, or water." I explained as I held the necklace in my hands.
"Here," I took a couple steps forward and placed the necklace in the kind woman's hands. "This is for you. For taking me back to my village." I said.
"You're very kind. Hmm..."
"What is it?"
"I'm sorry, but I don't think I've heard your name yet."
"Oh, I'm sorry. My name is Eita Shingeru." I introduced. "Shingeru? Of the Shingeru Clan?" She asked, in which I nodded my head. "Then, the rumors are true."
"Rumors?" I repeated, confused. "For many years, I've heard citizens of the Rain Village talk about how a boy became a Jinchuriki and was able to control anything out of ice or water. But that boy was presumed dead after the second attack on the Leaf Village." She explained.
"They got half of that story right. I didn't die, miss. I was frozen for six years. But I'm amazed you're aware of the Shingeru Clan's history." I mentioned. "May I know your name?"
"Of course. I am Konan."
Konan's POV
Staring at this boy reminds me of Nagato when he was a child. But what makes me concern are the bandages on Eita's body and his eye. "Are you... hurt?" I asked Eita. "No. Why?" Eita asked. "Your eye in covered and I've noticed most of your body is bandaged as well." I mentioned.
"Oh... The bandages are from... a really bad past. But there's nothing wrong with my eye, I assure you. You see, this eye isn't really mine," Eita said. He removed the eyepatch from his eye and looked at me. I noticed it was blue instead of purple.
"Heterochromia?" I asked. "Not really. This is Inari's eye, the demon fox that resides inside me. She can see anything through this eye, but I have to keep it covered or else she'll get bad ideas."
"What sort of ideas?" I asked. "I'd rather not say." Eita said, putting his eyepatch back on. "It's okay. I understand." I replied.
"Eita! Hey, are you out here?"
"Goodbye, Eita." I said. I created my wings from my paper jutsu and floated off the ground. "Wait!" Eita quickly grabbed my hand, stopping me before I could go anywhere. "Is something wrong?" I asked.
"I... Konan-san, we're friends... aren't we? I ask because... I really want to see you again." Eita blushed as he looked down, too embarased to look me in the eye. I smiled at him and petted his head, making him look at me.
"We will meet again. I promise," My hand slowly slipped from his as I floated towards the sky. "Until we meet again, Eita." I said, then flew back to Akatsuki.
Eita's POV
"Naruto?" I said as he ran over to me. "Slow down before you-"
"Whoa!"
Naruto didn't stop in time and crashed into me, sending both of us to the ground. "Ow..." We both moaned in pain. "I told you to slow down." I said, grunting slightly. "Sorry." Naruto apologized. He sat up and looked at me as I looked at him.
"Um..." We both stared at each other, blushing slightly, before turning away. "Can you get off me now?" I asked. "Huh? Oh, right! Sorry!" Naruto said, quickly getting off me. "It's okay." I said, sitting up as I rubbed my head.
"Anyway, what are you doing here? I was looking for you." Naruto said. "Looking for me? What for?" I asked. "I just... wanted to know where you were. I was getting a little lonely." Naruto said the last part quietly as he blushed.
He also added some puppy dog eyes when he said that. "Aww..." I grabbed his head and hugged it to my chest. "Little Naruto was getting lonely without me." I teased. "Shut up! And let go of me! I'm not a baby!" Naruto said, trying to pry away from me.
But I held on tightly. "No way. I'm sticking to you like glue, Naruto." I said, smiling. I felt him inhale in my chest and looked down to see that he had closed his eyes. My eyes softened as I continued to hold. And wanted to continue holding him like forever.
