Chapter 3: The Ninja Academy
Eita's POV
The next morning, Teruko and I walked to the academy. "Are you nervous about going to the academy?" Teruko asked. "No, not really." I answered.
When we got to the academy, Teruko kissed my forehead. "I'll come by to pick you up later, okay?" I nodded my head and she smiled at me. "See ya later, Bro." She said before walking off. I watched her go before entering the academy.
I walked down the hall with my hands in my pockets. "Which classroom do I enter through?" I mumbled. "Why don't you visit the Hokage and ask him?" Inari asked from inside me. "I could, but then I'd- Oof!"
Due to talking to Inari, I accidentally bumped into someone. I looked up and noticed it was a man with a scar above his nose. He must be a teacher here. "Excuse me, but I think I'm lost." I said. "Ah, you must be Eita Shingeru, right? The new student?"
I nodded my head. "Lord Hokage informed me earlier this morning. You're in my class. My name's Iruka Umino, I'll be your teacher." He introduced as he extended his hand for me to shake. "It's nice to meet you." I said, shaking his hand.
"Come on, I'll show you the way to the classroom." Iruka said, leading the way. When we got there, the room was filled with kids around my age. "All right, class. Settle down. We have a new student today. Everyone, meet Eita Shingeru." Iruka announced.
Immediately, students started whispering and murmuring. "Great. No doubt they know about the incident that happened six years ago." Inari said. I didn't reply as I scanned the room until my eyes landed on Naruto.
"It's him. Kushina and Minato's son." I mumbled to Inari. "No joke?! Let me see!" She said.
"Not right now."
"Oh, come on! Don't be an eye hog! Let me see the boy!"
"Eye hog? Let me guess: This has something to do with covering your eye, right?"
"Damn right, it is!
"Shh!"
"Eita, you're allowed to sit anywhere you want." Iruka said. "Yes, sir." I gave a nod and took a seat next to Naruto. Everyone gasped the moment I sat beside him. "What's their problem?" Inari asked. I didn't answer as I looked at Naruto.
"Hi, it's nice to meet you." Naruto greeted. "To you as well. Your name's Naruto, right?" I asked. "Yeah, how'd you know?" He asked. "Oh. Well..." I trailed off as I tried to tell him how I knew him. I can't just tell him I took care of him when he was an infant.
That would totally freak him out. "Uh... You're pretty well known in the village. I heard you pull pranks and draw on the walls sometimes." I said. "Hmm..." Naruto leaned towards me as he narrowed his eyes at me, making me lean back slightly.
"Um... Is something wrong?" I asked. "It's strange... but I've got this weird feeling that I know you from somewhere. You kind of look familiar." He mentioned. "Really? Maybe we've walked past each other a few times without even knowing it." I lied.
"Oh, I get it! That's why you look so familiar!" Naruto smiled. I smiled back at him. He's really grown. I feel bad that I wasn't able to continue to take care of him as he was growing up."Eita, you can feel it, too, can't you? Kurama's chakra." Inari mentoned.
"Yeah, I can feel him." I replied to her in a whisper. "Hey, Eita." Naruto said, grabbing my attention. "Yes?" I answered. "Why do you wear that eyepatch? Did something happen to you?" He asked. "Uh, yeah. I got into an accident and got a scar." I lied.
"Really? I wanna see!" Naruto said. "No way. It's embarrassing." I said, covering my eyepatch with my hand. "Oh, come on! It can't be that bad!" Naruto whined. "Trust me, it is." I said with a chuckle.
As Iruka was teaching the class, I kept spacing out every now and then until I dozed off and fell asleep.
"Eita?"
I opened my eyes and looked at Naruto as he was shaking my shoulder. "Are you okay?" He asked. "Yeah, I'm just a bit tired." I said, lifting my head off the desk. I was glad Naruto woke me up.
When the class ended, Naruto and I walked towards the exit. "See you tomorrow, Eita!" Naruto said. I waved at him with a smile and walked over to Teruko, who was waiting for me. "Hey, buddy. How did your first day go?" She asked. "Pretty good." I answered.
"That's good to hear. Did you make any friends?"
"I made friends with Naruto."
"Naruto? Naruto Uzumaki?"
"Yeah, who else?"
"Ha-ha. Real funny. Anyway, you ready to go?"
"Yeah." I nodded my head.

"How was your first day at school, Eita?" Mother asked during dinner. "It was okay. But I fell asleep during class." I explained. "Did you get enough sleeping last night?" Father asked. "Yeah." I answered while nodding my head.
"I honestly can't blame Eita for falling asleep in his class. Iruka's pretty boring. Why do you think I quit the academy?" Teruko joked. I smiled gently at her before standing up from the table. "Where are you off to?" Father asked.
"Just to the backyard. I wanna practice my ninjutsu before bed." I said, then left to the backyard.
I only practiced my basic training that I learned from Kushina and Minato. My mother and father were always busy with ANBU missions in the past and Teruko wasn't old enough to learn any ninjutsu. So I got most of my training from Kushina and Minato.
After practicing in the backyard for a while, I took a shower, brushed my teeth, and got ready for bed. I placed my eyepatch on my nightstand and laid in bed as I gazed out the window. "I wonder... what tomorrow will be like?" I said before closing my eyes and falling asleep.
