Chapter 5

We got back to our room after dinner and even though I wanted to sleep out of exhaustion, Pete suggested to meet the guys living beside our room.

"We'll get back in 5 minutes" He said.

And even though I barely had any interest in meeting other people, I followed him to the room.

He knocked on the door and a tall, lean boy opened it. He had a quite serious looking face but his gaze softened at the sight of Pete.

"Pete!" He said, inviting us in.

"Porsche, this is Vegas and Vegas this is Porsche-my new roommate." Pete introduced us and we both shook our hands as a formality.

"Um...where's he?" Pete asked while looking around.

"Who?" I asked.

"He's talking about my roomate" Vegas explained.

"He's probably dying somewhere in his room. Oiih! Come out, Pete and his roommate are here!" Vegas shouted.

"Does your throat never pain from all that screaming?" His roommate came complaining.

He yawned while coming to us and looked like he had just woken up from a good nap. His hair was dishelved and even in that state, he looked pretty breathtaking.

'Why do I feel like I have seen him somewhere before?' However, I couldn't remember where I had seen him.

"This is Porsche. And Porsche this is 'Kinn'." Vegas introduced and the moment he took the name, a bell rang in my head.

'It's the bracelet guy!' I thought. He didn't look like he remembered me and it was normal since we had just seen each other once that too on a dark bridge.

"Why don't you two talk a bit?
We'll be back in a minute." Vegas suggested and Pete gave me a nudge towards Kinn. He looked fine with it but I didn't know what to say.

After they both left, we two were left alone in the room.

"Um...let's sit down" He suggested and took me to the inner room. We both sat down on his bed and were sitting silently for a couple of minutes waiting for the awkwardness to dissipate a bit.

"Um...you probably don't remember me but we've met before." I started.

"What? Really? Uh sorry, you are right, I don't think I remember." He said.

"Well, here's your bracelet, you gave this to me back then." I handed him the bracelet

"I did?" He looked confused.

"Hm. That night...I was determined to jump off the bridge, but you came in out of nowhere, saved me, gave me this bracelet and asked me to promise you to live on and return this to you someday." I put the memories into my words.

"I think I remember it faintly." He said while trying his best to remember all the details.

"You seemed pretty troublesome to me that night." I chuckled.

"Hey! I saved you!" He looked dramatically offended.

"Uh...but why were you trying to jump off?" He had an awkward expression on as if he didn't want me to feel uncomfortable.

"Well...when people feel like ending their life is the only possible solution, usually there are more than one reason behind it. It's not different for me." I kept it vague and smiled softly hoping he would understand that I was reluctant to reveal the reason.

"What if you get the reason the live?" He asked an unexpected question.

"I...don't know..." I said truthfully. I genuinely didn't know the answer to the question. I had no will to keep living on and wasn't sure if I would ever get a reason to live.

"It's fine. You don't need to think too much about it. But if that ever happens, then try not to close yourself off, try not to push it away." He said as he laid down on the bed while looking up.

"Hm." I nodded.

We no longer had anything to talk about. Thankfully Pete and Vegas came back within a minute, saving us from all the awkwardness.

"Shall we leave?" Pete asked.

"Yes.." I nodded.

"Um..we'll leave now. Good night." Pete said to Vegas. The air between them was different. I could feel it, but I didn't know what it was. There was a hint of shyness? Between them? In contrast to the clueless me, Kinn looked like he knew exactly what was going on between the two.

"Now now, stop looking at him like that man it's creepy to see you giving that expression." Kinn said to Vegas while shivering over-dramatically.

"Shut up just say you're jealous" Vegas rolled his eyes.

"Stop fighting you two" Pete looked fed up as if he was already over the drama between the two.

"Porsche let's go. You'll end up in a mental hospital if you keep listening to these two argue." He sighed and grabbed my hand before pulling me out of the room.

"Good night you two!" He said for one last time before exiting the room.

"Do they hate each other?" I asked.

"Who?" Pete was confused for a second but realised who I was talking about right the next instant.

"Ohh...Vegas and Kinn?" He tried to confirm.

"Yes?" I confirmed.

"Ah no! They are quite close. They are like best friends on top of being cousins. And they were not exactly fighting just now, it's just how they interact." He laughed.

"Oh" I nodded and smiled. It must be good to have cousins the same age.

We both talked for a while more before dozing off because of how tired we were.

3RD PERSON POV:

In Kinn and Vegas' room:

"What are you thinking about?" Vegas asked seeing his dear brother all lost in thoughts.

"Porsche" He said.

"The new student?"

"Yes." Kinn still looked pretty dreamy.

"Looks like my dear brother got a crush." Vegas teased.

"Go die!" Kinn kicked him upon listening to that.

"What? You should take a lot at yourself in the mirror. You're all red" Vegas joked again.

"Yeah that's because of how much I am itching to kill you." Kinn said as he flipped him but was flipped back by Vegas.

"But honestly, he's quite cute. I think I'll hit on him a little . Let's see if he's my taste." Kinn smirked while thinking about Porsche.

"Man..stop making that expression, you look kinda creepy." Vegas said while heavily judging him for smirking like that.

"F*ck you" Kinn cursed him out.

"No! Only Pete can do that~" He joked while embracing himself acting as if he belonged to only Pete.

"Yeah sure. I pity him" Kinn teased him and was hit by him hard with a pillow. The two brothers could even turn a pillow fight into a full-fledged war thanks to the Teerapanyakul genes.

PORSCHE'S POV:

NEXT DAY:

"Mind if I sit here?" Kinn popped up infront of me.

"Um sure...but I think someone's sitting here already." I said in an unsure tone.

"Don't worry they can sit somewhere else." He said as he picked up the bag of the student and passed it one of his friends to keep it somewhere else. The one who was sitting beside me also turned out to be his friend hence didn't oppose to the sudden seat change.

"Looks like you've got quite a number of friends" I commented.

"Ofcourse...I've been living here practically my whole life. It would've been wierder if I had anyone in class that I didn't know." He said.

"Anyways, how was your first day in the hostel? Heard it's your first time living away from house? Must be tough" He peeped up to look at me as he rested his face on his arm.

"Umm...not really. Time back home wasn't pleasant anyways..so felt rather happy in here yesterday." I said and he looked a bit surprised.

"Time at home must have been terrible for you to like this hostel on the very first day. We revolted practically every single day back when we were new" He laughed a bit as he reminisced about his days as a new hosteler

"Why though? The rules don't seem that bad.." I asked feeling a bit confused to the seemingly overstatement.

"Well...the rules seemed quite strict to us back then, they still do but we've pretty much adjusted to them. But boy...back then we were enraged thinking that those were curtailing our freedom." He shrugged.

Oh to be a rich boy to start revolting at the sight of barely strict rules.
I thought to myself but had no guts to say it out loud to avoid any potential fall outs.

"Thinking about big of a rich brat I am?" He asked catching me off-guard.

"Do you know how to read minds?" The words slipped out accidentally.

He looked a bit surprised but I managed to clear myself the very next second.

"Oh...oh no I didn't really mean it. You're barely a brat." I said hoping for him to buy it.

"Yeah...will take it." He smiled seeing my desparate attempts to handle the situation.

"Class attention!" The teacher's voice rang in our ears bringing us back to reality.

"When did she come in?" I asked.

"No idea" He whispered back and both of us chuckled at how engrossed we were in the conversation.

The time went by swiftly with us paying our undivided attention but still engaging in minor chit-chat time to time.

After the main classes were over we had no extra classes hence were allowed to be back in our rooms. I told Pete about the exchange between us in the class and both of us had a good laugh while talking about it.

"Both Kinn and Vegas do have a good sense of humour" He laughed while saying.

"Both of them do share a really close bond, don't they?"

"Well yes. Both of them are cousins and it's a joint family so they have been together their whole life. Hence the strong bond." He informed.

I smiled thinking about the bond. It must be blessing to have a same age cousin.

"Oiiihh~ Are you blushing thinking about Kinn? You two did seem a bit close" He teased.

"What- why would I?" I tried to desparately hide the obvious blush.

3RD PERSON POV:

"Is our pretty boy crushing on the 2nd most demanded bachelor of the class? He's the second because Vegas is the first ofcourse but that boy's mine." Pete said in a teasing tone followed my a claiming one.

"What-" The colour drained out of Porsche's face.

"Are you sick too?" His voice came out in a whisper.
His face held a different kind of innocence with a hint of an unknown emotion as if he had found someone who was like him. The disbelief, the hint of curiosity and the slight yearning all played out to give a whole new kind of expression.

"What do you mean?" Pete felt confused. For a split second, he felt worried about what would he do if his new roommate turned out to be homophobic but the expression that Porsche held wasn't that of disgust but was similar to that of a sense of belonging.

(Note: Father - Step dad; Phaw: Birth dad)

"Father said I was sick...I had a crush on a senior, phi was really caring, really sweet, he helped me to remember what my Phaw used to say "don't be afraid to speak your mind" in that school he was my only solace but when father got to know about it, he locked me up." Porsche recalled the past events. But his expressions weren't dark, he was recollecting the past as if the events that had occurred were normal, as if he didn't blame his father for treating him as such.

He continued "Father said that I was sick. That I was immature that's why I was getting such a feeling towards another guy. He said that kids who end up taking that path get abandoned by everyone and that they deserve to be. He said a good discipline would bring me to the right path. He did everything he could, invested a bit too much effort, locked me, starved me did everything he could. I felt bad for him that he was investing so much of his time so I made him believe he had succeeded in curing me but the truth is that maybe I am too much of a disobedient child, I am still sick. None of those treatments could cure me. But don't worry, I have decided to see a doctor after getting a job. I have read about quite a few camps where they provide the guarantee that they can cure sick people like me." He seemed happy that there was someone that could cure him. A place that could make him 'normal'.

"Porsche...you are absolutely fine. Whoever the f*ck made you believe otherwise needs to shut the hell up. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY FINE!!" Pete said in a head strong tone. As if he was certain of what he was saying. The look his eyes held and the mood of his tone didn't seem to match. I was confused upon seeing him look so agitated but decided to postpone any questions to some later time.
