Light
I awoke to screaming.
It was not my own, nor my Master's, but yet, even as I thought, I realized that it indeed was my own. The screaming--the horrible pain--was coming from something within me, or rather, someone.
Ezra.
The name came out of nowhere, and just as quickly as it had appeared, it vanished. I tried to chase after it, but as I ran through the jungle, my Master's voice stopped me.
"Hey, Snips," he greeted me, his mischievous smirk ever present on his face, "What's the big hurry?"
Although the name was gone, there was no disguising the wretched agony I felt inside. It was nothing like I'd ever experienced, for the fact that it hurt me physically was a lie. I felt no pain, but yet, I could sense someone who did.
Ezra.
There it was again. That name--a flash of light in the shadows that engulfed my mind. For a split second, I remembered everything--the crash, the troopers, Ezra...
"That boy is dead, remember?" My Master spoke, and suddenly the light was gone. "He was slain, but we escaped."
"No," I whispered, "I left him. I abandoned him because I was afraid."
"Forget about him," Anakin snapped, "You're just wasting time. Even as we speak, the Sith Lord is hunting you."
"But Ezra is alive!" I cried as another wave of pain ripped through me, causing me to collapse, "He's screaming--there's so much pain and darkness--I can't see a way out."
"Snips," my Master whispered and knelt beside me. "You have to let him go."
"But I can't--"
"You must," Anakin growled. As I looked up into his face, I watched, transfixed, as a mask of darkness settled over his features. I'd just started to hear heavy breathing when I blinked. Just like that, Anakin had returned to normal.
Something wasn't right. My mind was in chaos, but the more I wandered, the more darkness I faced. The only way I would find my way out was if I found Ezra. He had the Light; only he could guide me through.
"I'm not going to listen to you anymore," I whispered.
"What?"
"Ezra needs me, and I will find him," I stated, my shaky voice destroying my defiant facade, "You may have been my Master once, but no longer."
At my declaration, Anakin sneered at me. "I've been too lax with you, youngling," he snarled, "It's time I administered discipline where it's due." His hand drifting to his side, he gripped his light saber.
As he activated the weapon, the blue blade was stained Crimson, and once again, the mask of darkness appeared over his face. Scrambling to my feet, I stumbled backwards and grabbed my own light sabers.
I'd been so blind.
All this time, I'd trusted my Master, but now I saw the truth. Anakin was not the kind and gentle man he'd once been. Somehow, my Master had become a Sith, a Lord of Darkness. As was his creed, he would destroy all those who clung to the Light.
Turning on my heel, I bolted in the opposite direction, and, following behind me, I heard my once-Master's slow plodding. Eventually, as I continued to run, the sound of his footsteps faded, but even so, one sound remained fixated in my mind.
It was the sound of his breathing, level and even. It was the breathing of a hunter, and since I was determined to find the light, I had just become his prey.
Here's another chapter! I hope you enjoyed it!! Sorry it took me a bit longer to update. Tell me what you thought! Don't forget to vote!!
