Shintaro Midorima's Ending

(Bakamono: Hey there, little potatoes of heaven! I want to warn you guys about this ending! If you guys get easily triggered just by reading sensitive topics such as implied suicide then I suggest you not to continue reading or skip the entire thing until you see this: ***!! It means that the bad stuff is gone and you can focus on fluff! You'll probably miss majority of the plot though! But meh! That's all, thank you!)

-------------------------

"Your lucky item for today is the object you will give to the person your heart will belong to!" Oha Asa exclaimed in joy.

"What?" came the annoyed rhetorical question of a familiar green-haired male. "I don't understand this. What does 'to the person your heart will belong to' mean?"

"It means the person that you will love, Shin-chan." his raven-haired companion answered, chewing on some strawberry flavored gum. "Well, I expected you to be this dense when it comes to these things." this made Shintaro glare at the male. "But hey! Don't worry! I'm here. I can help you find that destined object that you'll give to that lucky girl!"

And after hours of searching did they find that moonstone ring that Shintaro Midorima did end up giving to the girl he learned to love.

"So it's done." he silently whispered, gazing upon his hands that were starting to fade. "It was really nice knowing that I'm capable to feel the emotion called 'love'." a lone tear slid down his cheek as he gazed longingly towards the note he has left for her.

"Thank you, ____. I really do hope that you'll feel happy with him beside you. I, too, will try my best to live the second life you have given me to the fullest." And with that, golden glimmer of dusts filled his constitution, his entire body dissipating with it.

---------------

"Shintaro!" I screamed out loud, slamming the front door of our house open.

My lungs burned as I paid no attention to my need of air. I just ran back here as soon as I heard Takehiko's confession. There's no way Shintaro will leave me without telling me his plans!

Without even bothering to remove my shoes, I ran inside and started to search for the leek. Where is he!? It hasn't even been fifteen minutes! He can't just fade!

Flashes of our memories came crashing down on me as I open each and every door of the house.

"Are you hurt?" He suddenly asked, kneeling in front of me.

I nodded, trying to be honest with my feelings.

"I figured." He answered, removing one of the stilettos attached on my feet. "...You have a blister."

Shintaro... Come on! Where are you?

"I would like to pledge that I will find a way for him to return your affection with equal intensity." He said, not sparing me a glance but I can still sense his earnestness. He gave my back soothing pats in a single patterned rhythm that was lulling me to sleep.

You can't just leave! We had our fair share of fights but I can't live without your presence anymore. No matter how short our time together may be, our bond was something special!

His eyes remained unreadable. I can't understand those alluring green eyes staring back at me. But I want to understand them. I want to understand him.

"You're making this so hard for me." he finally said. He gripped on my hand that was holding his while his other hand held my cheek as tenderly as his calloused hand can.

Please come back...

I wasn't able to answer his question for his lips melted against mine. It was warm and soft. I slowly closed my eyes, drowning against this blissful sensation.

I exhaled, completely exasperated upon finding no trace of the green-haired male I adore. My eyes continued to scan the living room where he would usually spend his day, reading novels that only my father took interest in reading.

I stopped once I saw a pastel green sheet peeking out at the coffee table. I quickly went for it, grabbing the paper as soon as I see the familiar writing of Shintaro.

What was written on the sheet of paper were merely six words. Yet, I couldn't stop the tears that slowly fell from my eyes. My hands tightened their grip against the paper as I felt my heart being torn apart.

"I'm sorry and...

                                     I love you."

I sank on the couch, arms enveloped around the sheet of paper that still carries his scent.

"Why?" I softly asked, in between hiccups.

I don't know how long I was in that position. My tears just continue to fall down my eyes without any sign of stopping. By the time my tears have dried, it was already past noon.

That time was enough for me to think. I now know what I have to do.

I can't just give this up... I can't lose the person who actually cares about me. Fuck this reality.

With that thought, I made my way to the kitchen counter and grabbed the sharpest knife it can offer.

"Here goes nothing." I muttered, softly pressing the lethal object against my throbbing veins.

----------------

Came a soft gasp as the green-haired male opened his eyes. Everything was bright. He squinted his eyes, looking around the unfamiliar scenery in front of him.

"... Am I back?" He asked, trying to clear his vision. He sat up the bed where he lay and gently patted the bedside table in search of his eyeglasses. He proceeded to slide it on once he managed to retrieve it.

He released a sigh upon seeing everything clearly. "... So I'm back."

The green-haired slowly removed the blanket draped over him and gently scooted to the side in order to settle his foot to the ground.

"I wonder if I can walk again." With a silent prayer, he gently stood up. To his bewilderment, his legs moved in his will.

A small smile graced upon his lips as his limbs stretched forward. It's back. He's not an invalid anymore. He can now continue playing basketball. He can now get his normal life back.

"... Thank you." He repeatedly mumbled, desperately holding in the tears that started to invade his field of vision.

"Shin-chan?" A voice laced with worry asked, making the male turn his head towards the visitor.

It was his raven-haired colleague, the expression of surprise mixed with joy present on his face.

"Shin-chan! You can walk!?" He exclaimed, running to the male.

"... Yes." Was the only response Shintaro was able to utter.

"I knew it! I told you! You can still have your legs back!" Takao was near tears, a relieved grin present on his face. "Don't you dare try to commit suicide again, you idiot!"

"... Try?" Was Shintaro's question. He didn't try to commit suicide. He DID commit suicide. That's how he ended up in Two's realm, after all.

"Your mother went out for a short while and when she went back, you were gone!" Takao exclaimed, his sentence somehow slurring as he spoke a little too fast than he intended. "Then they found you on the rooftop, trying to climb off the railings! Good thing they were able to stop you. But then you... You fainted!"

"Oh." Shintaro spoke out, voice not really surprised nor distraught.

"Welcome back, Shin—!" And came his friend's tackle hug.

"Wha—!? You idiot...!"

Seven months later...

The beautiful spring and hot summer days passed and soon, it was fall.

"I didn't expect us to lose." Takao whined, lower lip jutted out as he walked side by side with Shintaro.

"No one expects to lose." The green-haired male answered, holding a stuffed toy leek in his left hand. "Just accept it."

"Come on, Shin-chan. You were also a sore loser months ago. You just had this enlightenment after your spinal chord injury!" Takao whined more, jabbing his elbow on Shintaro's arm to which the other male swiftly dodged.

"I simply learned that losing a mere basketball match is nothing compared to losing some... N-never mind."

"...?" The smaller male tilted his head, confused before his attention completely diverted towards the vending machine at a distance. "... I'm thirsty! I'll go grab some drinks. Whaddya want?"

"Anything is fine."

With a wave, Takao ran to the vending machine, leaving Shintaro alone.

"Compared to losing someone you love..." He continued his disrupted sentence, looking down at the leek on his hand. "... I miss you."

"I miss you too."

...

The cold fall air slowly drifted through the tall male's frame as his ears rang upon the familiar voice that spoke just beside him.

Could it be...?

He turned around, his eyes widening as he took in the sight of the person he didn't know he'll see again.

It's her. In flesh. She still looks the same with the exception of the large framed eyeglasses that rested on her face.

"Assuming that it's me you're talking about? Or else I'm just replying to a message that's not for me?" She laughed a bit, scratching the back of her head.

"Why... How.. What?" The intellectual wasn't able to form words. His thoughts were filled with two dominant ideas;

One, he's so elated to see this girl in front of her.

"Well, I definitely took the risk to reach your world!" The girl replied, waving her hands around. "I tried to like... Kill myself... Then... I had a bargain... So yeah! In exchange of my previous life and good eyesight, I managed to reach you!"

Shintaro honestly didn't get what the girl was saying.

"... Ah. I don't even care anymore." He muttered, grabbing the girl's wrist and pulling her close.

Two, he wants to kiss her so badly.

"Wh-what-?" She was cut off as Shintaro's lips met hers, his arms wrapping around her waist while her arms found its way to the back of his neck.

Both closed their eyes, savoring the taste of each other's lips. Who cares about the explanation to how she got to him? What matters most is that they managed to find each other once again even with their worlds trying to separate them.

"Woah, Shin-chan. You move even faster than Sonic!"
