The Puppet and Cross

Will admit rushed this one a bit but I do hope you like it.

Note this Error will be somewhat different from Disguised Puppet Error. Some plots similar but different.

Summary: Error didn't jump in the void, made it looked like he did, and stayed in the Anti-Void. Only ones visiting him is Blue and Lust. Everyone else thinks he dead and will leave it at that. Learns about the Masquerade Party. Not sure to go but decided to "invite" himself. The party was nice till he hears many things about him and many happy for his death. Ran out to be alone. Then get a surprised when Cross himself finds him.

Error stared at himself in the mirror.

He was actually going to do this?

Try to find any kind of excuse to not do this. Quite frankly many of its reasonable.

For, one they all think he is dead when he fell to his "death". Then again when the portal open it did look like the void to make them all think that? But it was worth it. Plus his choice and decision was a huge leap as it rip the strings of Fate off him. Oh the scream she did when she learn of that. It was satisfying. Why it happen that way he doesn't know and quite frankly doesn't care as she leaves him alone. Fate who can no longer control him and at the same time can't take away the powers that are his. She can do nothing but watch back and see what Error will do. Oh and said powers and few abilities of his return back and got too work. Well he had to rest in his anti-void but added some new features in quickly before he can fully rest.

And one of them if too make sure nobody can come in his Anti-Void. Not even Ink, Nightmare, Core or anyone who was able to get in. He can let them think the Anti-Void connected to him and that is why they can no longer enter. At least an ideal plan that seem too work as nobody been able too. You think Reaper figured it out by now but Error will leave that be till the time comes. But he did allowed two people her nd the only ones who know he is alive.

Blue and Lust.

Error only real true friends left. The Charas he didn't tell them he alive and best they are too not know till he fixes issues up. Or at least find a way to fix this stupid balance for good.

That was another reason it would seem strange he only interacted with Blue and Lust. Blue being under house for who knows who long under his brother. Which Error was able to fix so Blue get some freedom after the past few weeks? Lust who doesn't have that many friends and will think very differently. Which Error doesn't care but he has some senses left to care for Lust.

He didn't want to be around any of them. Doesn't want to be around the ones who are celebrating his death. But yet he is doing this to himself. Wow he really is a sicko in a way.

Plus, he has a "job" too do. Able to hide and destroyed many copies under their noses. But who knows how long before they think Error has return. Or at least a new Destroyer taking his spot. He should focus on that. It made it very easy with his abilities to do it from the Anti-Void than in the AU itself. Easy and painless quickly. It didn't mean he still feels a bit horrible what he has to do.

Look one last time at himself and then down at the mask. Traced the full face mask with star design on the side. No, mouth but slit eyes.
(No, crown and shoulders covered. Mask mark blue instead of purple.)

Time to crash a party.

He regrets crashing this party. It so boring and half the people didn't even try to hide who they are. Sure some of the treats and songs were good. But too many people around.

Error stayed in the back, really a dark corner, as he watches monsters and humans around enjoying their time. Celebrating his "death". He was able to get to talk with Blue and Lust a bit, who actually had good outfits and masks. I was a nice talk for a while ill he left when their "buddies" arrived. Blue and Lust seem to understand but wanted to spend time with Error than them.

Error sighs and ready to go back to the buffet room, sue him the chocolate cookies delicious, he stop when he heard a few people talk.

"I must say it good that monster no longer here."

"Ha more like a demon."

"An insane psychopath."

"It took them awhile but he finally gone for good."

"Ink a true hero we don't deserved."

"An ugly glitch."

"Universal destroyer."

"Hope he suffered wherever he is now."

"Eternal suffering and pain he deserved."

"A wasteful mistake. Where he came from would be ashamed."

"I bet he destroyed his old home. No, one knew where he came from."

"All our home safe and no longer have to worry about that glitch."

Error walked away fast. He didn't pay too much attention only that he was outside and away from everyone inside. Away from fools who don't know him or see the bigger picture. He really should let this whole place crash.

Blue and Lust faces show up.

He stop and took a deep breath. Yet they deserved to live along with the innocent ones who don't understand. Lift his head up and realized he was in the gardens close to a fountain. Walk to it slowly and spotted a bench. Sits down and relax. Lift his head up to stare at the lovely full moon with twinkling stars shinning down.

He miss visiting Outertale but this was the closets he'll look at it. Unless with the portal. Or just throw his hand in his air and hopefully nobody spots him there. But it began to calm him down a bit.

Does he smell chocolate?

Turn his head and freeze.

The figure in white and black freeze holding a plate of brownies.

(First, outfit and wearing the third option mask.)

The two stared at each other for a bit.

"Um is this seat taken?" The male asked and Error recognized their voice.

Cross.

"No." Error change his voice a bit to no be recognized and it's a pain to deal with. But at the moment rather not be caught.

He nods and comes sit down right by Error.

Error just now realized he let him sit by him even though there are 3 other benches. Look back at them and see they took their mask off. Was correct it was Cross.

"Um want one?" Cross asked the stranger awkwardly handing them a cookie. Watch them tilt their head and took the cookie. It was kind of adorable to him.

"Thank you."

"Welcome." Cross watches and frown a little as they turn around to eat the cookie. Well at least their secretive. Cross pick up a cookie for himself and bite into it.

Error finished his cookie and place their mask back down. He turn back to look at the sky and try to concentrate on moon. Not his former friend. He was a bit confused why Cross wasn't at that battle that day. But it doesn't matter for he, and Nightmare group, turn away from him. Yet, he looked really hurt when he said those cruel words to him. Error will never understand.

"Lovely night."

"Yep."

"It was getting a bit crowded in there."

"Agreed."

"You look really nice."

"..."

"..."

Cross head down a bit embarrassed. Well that backfire. Okay he not going to lie he saw this figure all day in the party. Just something about them just caught his attention. Could it be the dress and mask as they look really lovely even without seeing their face? Or the mystery surrounding them as they just stayed in the back unless to talk with those two people they were with. Or when he saw them go in buffet room and grab dessert. Especially chocolate. But never saw them eat it in time. Been a few times he wanted to approach them to talk or a dance. But either someone block his path, one of his friends pulled him away to talk, kept getting asked to dance with someone or they just disappeared. Got quite annoyed and decided to go outside to get some air. And he may have taken a batch of fresh cookies when he left.

Then surprised, surprised here he is running into the mysterious person. Along with messing up badly with this.

"Um thanks...You look very handsome."

Cross blushed purple from the compliment.

Error glance and glad his mask his own blush.

"I um thank you."

Next, thing they both know they began to talk. Cross was able to get a name and Error just gave him Puppet to call him. Error spoke a few things but seem to listen to Cross as he talks. Now and then the two throwing in joke. Cross try not laugh when they tilt their head in confusion about certain jokes. Well really memes. But then Error would surprise him with a joke. An innocent kind of sorts but it made Cross laughed.

It made Cross think of a simpler times. When things weren't as bad. He couldn't help but enjoy Puppet company. It was different. Nothing against Nightmare group and Epic. They are good friends and comrades, even if he didn't agreed to what they did with Error and didn't take part of that battle, but at times needed to be away. Now it didn't mean he'll jump in Ink, Dream or anyone else's arms to have a chat with.

Like he use to with Error.

Cross shake his head away at the sadden thought. He was so cruel that day. XChara still to this day won't talk to him besides when he yelled at him for being a fool. For not listening to Error. Hurting him like that after all these years. Now gone forever.

"Cross?"

Cross look at Puppet tilting their head at his direction.

"I'm okay just too many thoughts in my head."

"No, that feeling well."

"Aww any about me."

"In your dreams skunk boy."

"Skunk boy?"

"Yep."

"I don't know to be insulted or not. I'm at least a tiger."

"Hmm no you don't look that vicious."

"Hey!"

Error chuckles at Cross pouting look.

"Well you look like a, a...I got nothing." Head down in shame.

"Nothing good."

"Ouch."

Suddenly they can hear music coming out of the castle. They were able to hear it quite well from where they are at.

Cross stands up and place the plate down. He looks at Puppet and offered a hand. "Sounds cliché but care to dance."

Error taken back and debating even when his hand reaches out towards him. Stands up, Error height up to Cross shoulders, and the two dancing.

But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt, suddenly goes away somehow

This wasn't bad. The two of them thought as they dance.

One step closer

Cross chuckles as he spins Puppet around and bring them back to his side. Smile hearing amused snort but not complaining.

The garden glowing underneath the moon and the flowers glistening. It was a pretty sight to see with the two people dancing around in the gardens.

Error looked up at Cross too see the smile on his face. It was a nice smile on Cross. Would he still be smiling if he learn who he really was? Shake those thought away and focus on the moment.

Cross would like to do this a lot more. Well maybe the dancing once in a while. But spend time with Puppet like this. Sounds so ridiculous to form a small crush this fast but he done some ridiculous stuff. And well even when they learn who he was they just stayed by his side. Not caring he with Nightmare group or not.

Error chuckles as they both spin around the fountain. Cross keeps smiling down at him. Like nothing matters at the moment.

Cross pressed his forehead against their mask. They tense a little but relaxed.

The two finally stop and just standing there under the moon.

"Puppet." Cross lifted his forehead off their mask.

"Yes, Cross?"

"May I see who you are?"

Puppet freezes. What?!

"CROSS!"

Cross looked at the direction to see it was Dream. He let out a groan, hoping it not another one of his to join their side when the truce is over talk again. Look back at Puppet. "Excuse me for a bit."

What he did shock and caught them off guard.

Cross kissed the top of their mask.

Cross pulled away and goes to talk to Dream.

Error frozen still at the spot. Reach out to touch the top of his mask. He kissed him? Began to blush a bit at what he did. Till he remember the question he asked. No, he would be disgusted and angry if he learn who he was. Along with called the others to come down and "finished" him off. Turn around and about to head off to open a portal back to the Anti-Void but stop. He look back at the plate of cookies and Cross mask.

"Puppet I'm sorry about-Puppet?" Cross blinked and looked around.

They were gone.

Cross began to search around and try to find Puppet. But nothing. Frown deeply and head down. Feeling foolish and stupid if the question was the reason they left. Maybe they went back inside. He could find them. Turn around and stop too see what was on the bench.
