"Okay, class, tutoring sessions are going to open after school today so make sure to come if you don't understand anything," the teacher says.
I sigh and rest my head on my desk. I hardly got any sleep the whole weekend. Luckily, my parents haven't came back. Maybe they will actually take my advice. I hear gasps around me.
"Heyyyy Hannaaaaa," I hear that same voice from the other say.
I groan and turn my head around. Mikey is there smiling. Draken is behind him, with his arms crossed.
"What do you want?" I ask annoyed.
"That's no way to treat your friend. Now come on Hana, either you get up or I make you," Mikey says.
"Umm excuse me, but we are in the middle of class," the teacher says but no one pays attention to him.
I stand up and grab my bag. I walk towards them and sigh.
"Come on let's go," I say.
I follow them out of the school and see two bikes out there. Draken hops on one and Mikey hops on the other.
"Get on," Mikey says.
I sigh. Why am I listening to him? I could just walk away. But I know they won't stop bugging me, so I sit behind him.
"You're going to have to hold on," he says smirking at me.
I roll my eyes and lightly wrap my arms around his torso. Suddenly we are off. I've only been on a bike a couple times, whenever my uncle would visit us when I was younger. I watch as the buildings pass us. There are a lot of people that look at us, gasping. Mikey presses on the accelerator and we continue on the road. I can't help but smile. I miss the thrill of it. The air hitting your face and zooming past everything. Finally, Mikey stops in front of an abandoned warehouse.
"Why are we here?" I ask hopping off the motorcycle.
"I want you to meet some people," Mikey says.
I stand in my place. Draken notices me stop.
"There's no need to be scared, they are our friends, trust them," Draken says.
I sigh and follow them. I hear laughter from outside. Mikey opens the door and we all walk in. Everyone goes silent when they see me. I spot Baji here, too. He's sitting on an old couch. His eyes trail me, but I try to ignore it.
"Hey guys, this is Hana. Hana this is Mitsuya, Chifuyu, Nahoya, and as you already know, Baji," MIkey says.
They all say hi to me, except Baji of course. Mitsuya so far is my favorite. He's really nice to me and respectful.
"You don't smile much do you Hana?" Nahoya asks, with a huge smile on his face like usual.
I shrug. "No one's done something to make me smile."
"We saw that fight," Mitsuya says, "How'd you learn how to fight like that?"
"My uncle taught me," I say.
"Where's your uncle? He seems cool," Chifuyu asks.
I gulp and look away. "He's dead."
I can feel Baji's eyes on me again. It's like he's piercing through me. I feel a hand go on my shoulder and I flinch.
"I'm sorry for your loss," Draken says looking down at me.
I nod and put my hands in the skirt pockets. Everyone starts talking to eachother and I just listen. Mikey's right. They aren't like the douches I've met. But I don't know if I can trust them just yet. They still are part of the Tokyo Manji gang. They still hurt people.
"I have to go home," I say seeing the sun is setting.
Tanaka should be done with club by now, so I have to go pick him up.
"I'll take you," I hear the deep voice say.
I turn around and see Baji there. "It's okay, I can walk home."
He shakes his head. "You're our friend now, I'll take you."
I decide not to argue and just follow him out. Everyone says bye to me and I wave. Baji hops on his motorcycle.
"I have to pick up my brother first," I say.
"Okay," he says starting to drive away from the warehouse.
My grip around him is a little tighter than with Mikey. I don't know why I noticed that.
"Thanks," I say in an almost whisper.
Baji stops in front of the elementary school. "For what?"
"For getting me out of being Kiyomasa's errand girl," I say hopping off his bike.
He turns his bike off, too. "What are you doing?" I ask as he follows me.
"I'll walk you home," he says.
"You don't need to do that, I live right there," I say motioning to the apartments.
He ignores me and follows me nonetheless. I sigh. Whatever. I see Tanaka talking to his soccer friend. He spots me and runs up to me, hugging me. I can feel a slight smile on my face.
"Hey big sis, guess what? I made a goal today," he says.
I hold on to his hand and we start walking towards home. "Oh yeah? Good job Tanaka."
"Hey, Hana, is he your boyfriend?" Tanaka asks and my cheeks go red.
I can hear Baji snicker and I look over at him and give him a death glare.
"No, he's just a creep that keeps on following me," I say.
I can hear Baji's snickers stop. "Hey, no I'm not!"
I ignore him. Tanaka keeps on talking about soccer and Baji talks with him. I can't help but smile. Watching Baji and my little brother talk is heartwarming. We get in front of my apartment door.
"Okay Tanaka, go wash up and grab the dinner out of the fridge, I'll be there in a minute," I say and he walks inside.
I close the door behind me and look up at Baji. He has a smirk on his face. "Cute brother."
"Yeah, thanks for talking to him about soccer, I don't know what he's talking about half of the time," I say.
Suddenly, he places a finger on my lips, causing my eyes to go wide. "I saw you smile. You should smile more."
My cheeks are flaming hot. He drops his finger and has a bigger smirk on his face.
"Bye Hana," He waves before walking away.
I walk inside placing a finger where his were touching just a minute ago. What is this weird feeling I'm getting? I shake it off and walk to the kitchen.
"You ready for some food?"
