(1 and a half years later)
I shake my fist after throwing a punch at the guy. His friends look up at me scared.
"If you try to mess with her again, I'll kill you next time," I say and they nod running away.
I help the young girl up in front of me. She hugs me. "Thank you so much ma'am."
I pat her head. "No worries, just don't walk these streets alone okay?"
She nods and runs off in the direction she was going in. I put my hands in my pockets and walk out.
"Hana kun!" I hear Mikey's voice.
I turn around and see Mikey, Draken, and Emma there. I wave. "Hey guys what are you doing?"
"It's Emma's birthday and I caught Mikey hanging out with his little sister like the good older brother he is," Draken says messing up his hair.
Mikey scoffs and rolls his eyes. "Do you want to hang out with us?"
I shake my head. "I'm sorry I can't. I have to help Mitsuya today."
Mikey pouts. "You always hang out with Mitsuya, you need to hang out with me more."
Draken grabs his shoulders and starts to drag him away. "Go help Mitsuya, we'll see you later tonight at Takemichi's right?"
I nod and wave bye to them, walking towards Mitsuya's place. When I get to the apartment, I knock on the door. Mitsuya immediately runs to open it. He pulls me inside. I look around.
"Oh God Mitsuya, it's even worse than I thought," I say looking around.
"I don't know what happened. One day it was perfectly fine, but now it's the worst it's ever been," he says slapping him forehead.
I sigh and put my hair up in a ponytail. "Pass me the towel, we need to start cleaning pronto before I pass out from how dirty your shit is."
(After cleaning)
We both sigh, dropping down on the couch. He looks over at me and gives me a tired smile. "You're a savior Hana."
"I know I am," I chuckle looking up at his ceiling.
I check the time. "We still have an hour before we are supposed to meet up at Takemichi's."
MItsuya hands over a controller. "I'm definitely going to beat you this time Hana."
(Later that night)
"I totally destroyed this guy," I say causing everyone to laugh.
Mitsuya scoffs. "My screen was glitching! I would've beat you if it wasn't."
I roll my eyes. "Yeah, yeah whatever you say."
Mikey looks at his phone and his eyes go wide. He subtly calls Draken to the back. No one noticed them except me. They went into a bedroom.
"I'm going to use the bathroom," I say getting up.
Once I'm out of everyone's view, I put my ear against the door of the room they were in. I hear shuffling in the beginning.
"He said he's coming back now?" I hear Draken say.
"He just texted me and said he should come in from his flight later tonight," Mikey says.
I hear Draken sigh. "Do you think we should've told everyone?"
"It was his wish not to, so we are going to do what our friend asks," Mikey says.
"What about Hana?" Draken says, causing my breath to hitch.
What about me? What are they talking about? Mikey is silent for a while.
"I don't know," he finally says.
I move my ear away from the door. What is going on? What are they hiding from everyone else? What about me? I go back to where everyone is, pretending nothing just happened. A few minutes later, Draken and Mikey made their way back to their seats. They are good at pretending nothing happened. If I didn't hear what they said, I would've never guessed they talked about something like that. I get up and stretch.
"I think I'm going to go home now," I say.
I say bye to everyone. I notice that Mikey couldn't look at me in the eyes. Why can't they tell me? I'm going to figure out anyways if this mysterious person is coming tonight. I put on my shoes and walk outside. Takemichi lives pretty close to where I live so I decide to walk home. I start walking towards Kugi's house. My mind starts spiraling with possibilities. What if it's someone I hate? Maybe that's why they won't tell me. I open the front door and walk in, seeing Kugi on the couch. Her eyes wander up from her book and she smiles at me.
"Hana, good timing. The rice just finished," she says.
We sit down and eat, Kugi updating me on her day the whole time. I don't feel like telling Kugi about what I overheard.
"Goodnight, Kugi," I say giving her a hug before walking into my room.
I change into pajamas and go to the closet. I open it and hold on to the sleeve of the jacket I hold onto every night before I sleep.
"I took care of that kid today Baji. Just like you would do," I chuckle. "The guys were scared shit less. I also helped Mitsuya clean his apartment, it was like a zoo in there."
Silence falls in the air. "I miss you Baji. Everyone does. I dropped off flowers for your mom again yesterday. She's doing better. We've all been visiting her and Kugi and her hang out like 4 times a week."
I sigh and close the closet door. It's time for me to go to bed. I turn off the lights and open the window slightly. The spring weather is nice. As I slip under the covers, I grab onto the picture I keep under my pillow. It's the picture Kugi took of Baji and I that night of the dinner. I printed it out and have been keeping it under my pillow since. It brings me comfort. I fall asleep, having dreams of the memories with Baji and everyone else.
