Chapter 34 : Timothy's rescue
"You have the Preparer too?" Ermand asked, turning at Charlie.
"Why not? It doesn't only help in tricks but also survive the DCT. I didn't take it for yesterday's because I just thought of first getting adapted to the environment. Also, you're not allowed to take potions while you're attending DCT. But I'll smuggle it into the hole with me."
"No, Charlie you're not going to do that. It's good that the Preparer is lost," Emile commented.
Charlie paused in his search and slowly turned at Emile, narrowing his eyes.
"You. You hid it, right?" He asked, pointing one of his fingers at Emile.
"You're going off your head," Emile replied and shook his head.
"Where the hell is it! "
"Check properly," Timothy murmured.
"Damn! I've searched every place and the chest is the last place I'm looking through. I bought it for two Twoks and I've only used two drops of it till now. I can't risk it getting in the hands of others."
"We'll search after the classes," Edwin suggested.
"Alright," Charlie sighed and began putting all the stuff he dug out back into the chest.
When the boys stepped out of their room to have breakfast, they noticed every student in any of the three uniforms while most of the girls' eyes were on Ermand who looked stunning in his new posh clothes.
"You made quite an impression," Timothy whispered in Ermand's ear.
It was Professor Alida Spears' Advanced Elemental magic in the morning and the boys except Emile weren't ready for it.
"Pyromagus, Aquamagus, Aeramagus and Terramagus are the four elemental magic we have seen and learned in our previous classes. Today, I'm going to introduce you to the four pillars of existence and the two dimensional magic. Can anybody name me them?" She asked.
"Holy Magus, Dark Magus, Cosmo Magus and Chrono Magus are the four pillars of existence, right?"
"Exactly, Emile. Timothy Chestnut, would you please name me the two dimensional magic?"
Timothy was startled as he was called. He slowly stood up from his bench, peeking into Ermand's opened book.
"Leave it. Ermand Chisel?"
"Uh..." Ermand glanced at Emile who nodded confidently at him. "Æther magic and Nether magic?"
"Excellent."
Timothy and Charlie stared at Ermand, jaw dropped.
"You're improving better than us," Charlie shook his head. "You'll pass the test in no time."
"I didn't know Emile taught me things way before the class."
"It's time we call you Professor Chisel, Ermand," Timothy rested an arm over his shoulder and gently tapped on his back.
"No, way. I'm just trying to catch with the rest of you and no more of it."
"We'll that counts--"
"Hey, the Qorder seemed to be fascinated about Elemental magic," Charlie interrupted.
Ermand and Timothy turned their heads at Damien who was sitting in the back bench in the class, alone and was engrossed in scribbling something into his notebook from another book. Damien Qorder usually hangs out with his high ranked buddies everywhere. It was rare to see him alone.
"This definitely increases suspicion in me," Timothy said, his lips puckered.
"Let's sneak after him." Charlie winked.
After the Professor Alida Spears, it was their favourite Defense class. All of them were eagerly prepared to learn the true defense lessons after all the theory and instruction classes were given. They were taught at the wide space at the top of one of the buildings. Professor Chisel taught them how to fight without any weapons.
The three boys were occasionally busy observing the furtive nature of Damien. They were perplexed to see that he practiced the stunts alone during the whole Defense class and his friends didn't even bother to turn a glance at him. Ermand suggested that they might've disbanded from him but Timothy attested that it was impossible since he's the son of the famous politician who has wide influence over the countries around Tawarn. No one would want to break ties with the son of such a father.
Just as they were speculating the reasons behind Damien's odd behaviour, a clumsy boy stumbled upon a tiny stone that was placed down by Professor Chisel for his next demonstration and slanted on the low-built wall close to him. Before the boy could regain his balance, he unexpectedly tumbled over the wall, screaming in a low sound.
He was glad he didn't fall onto the ground far underneath him since he managed to cling onto one of the spines that decorated the walls, but how long would he cling onto the shaft of the spine was unknown.
"Help!" He screamed loudly.
Professor Chisel suddenly turned his head around everywhere to identify the source of the voice.
"Arawn has fallen over the wall," his friend shouted.
The high ranked students smirked at him while the others went searching the edges for Arawn.
"There!" Timothy pointed just as he heard Arawn crying out for help again.
Without expecting for anybody to lend a helping hand, Timothy immediately bent over the low-built wall and extended both his hands toward the boy who struggled to cling onto the spine. He soon realized that it was worthless extending his hand toward and jumped out of the low-built wall with one of his hands grabbing the edge of the wall.
"Oscillar's rope!"
A bright yellow rope with one of its ends tied to some heavy round object appeared and Timothy immediately grabbed the end of it, throwing the heavy end onto the floor bounded by the low-built wall.
"Hold onto the rope!"
The boy immediately grabbed the end of the rope while Timothy dragged the rope toward him. His friends grabbed the other of the rope and pulled it backward and finally Timothy extended his hand and grabbed the boy's wrist and pulled him toward the narrow platform he stood on.
"Place your feet over one of the spines!"
The boy did as he was told and finally jumped over the wall, collapsing onto the ground. He was followed by Timothy, who was sweating all over.
As Timothy landed safely on the floor, he gasped for breath. He didn't know how he did it because he always had a fear of taking the first step but at that point of time, he somehow overcame his fears.
And when the realization hit him, a bright yellow light formed Infront of him that quickly faded away, leaving a bow and an arrow in front of him. All of the students gazed at the scene with their eyes bulged out and some occasional gasps.
The bow was made of red oak with some lunar designs carved on it, through which pale yellow light emitted. The strings tied to both the ends of the bow shone when the sunlight flashed on it.
The arrow looked extremely sharp that even touching the blades of the arrow point would leave a cut on anybody's flesh while the shaft of the arrow was also carved with the same lunar designs and emitted the same amount of light. The fletching was carefully arrayed using phoenix feathers.
Timothy took the bow and scanned it on his hands. Students gathered around him, their faces filled with wonder. The Professor neared toward Timothy and began clapping his hands which was soon followed by the students.
"Timothy Chestnut has gained his Aslehm," he declared with a wide grin on his proud face.
