Prologue

"Andrew, I'm heading out for a little bit," I tucked a strand of blonde hair behind my ear, quickly grabbing my things by the door before pausing for a moment to take in the grand entrance. This place looked like a castle, my stomach twisting in knots as the paintings of the ocean lined the walls following the circular staircase to the second floor. "Andrew?" I shouted once more searching the large room for any sign he was still here. I hated living in a house so big, I wanted to be close to the people I love, and in a place like this, I never knew where my fiance was.

I glanced down at the ring on my finger, my body still in shock at the fact that I Erin Rose was getting married. I thought back to a year ago when Carter left without saying goodbye, all the horrible Tinder dates I had to endure before finding Andrew. He really did make me happy, but something in the back of my mind told me I needed to hold off for a while longer. I took in the details of the massive rock on my ring finger, the sparkles captivating me. A scruffy voice drew me from my thoughts.

"Erin, hold on a moment," Andrew came rushing around the corner, his suit ironed neatly. He quickly grabbed my arms pulling me into his warm hug. His lips separated into a wide grin as he took in the clothes I was wearing. A simple black dress. I couldn't help but feel weak in his embrace. "I will see you tonight for dinner right?" He questions, throwing a side eye at me. I nodded my head quickly.

"Clara and I won't be gone too long. We are just going to a few shops," I smiled once more, pulling away from him. His cologne still swirled through my nostrils. Andrew leaned down giving me a quick peck on the cheek.

"I love you, Erin, I will see you tonight. I'll make sure Gale has dinner prepared on time," My heart sank as soon as he mentions her name. Gale was our cook, and I hated having a cook. She was amazing, honestly, the best there ever was. But there was no reason for Andrew and me to have a cook.  I tried to hide my sudden annoyance before heading out the door and onto the streets to meet up with my best friend.

Emotions of romance and fading love dancing inside as I left the house I never enjoyed.
