We Re-Enact Too Many Clichés
We Re-Enact Too Many Clichés
"Really? It had to be you that follows me? Great, just great." I sheathed Riptide and kicked at the sand.
"What do you mean?" She lowered her dagger and stooped to pick up her cap.
I scowled. "The Oracle said that I would travel alone, but someone would follow me."
"Ah. Well, now that I'm here, want to go save Daedalus?"
I stormed toward the cave. "Just stay out of the way." She smiled and ran to catch up with me. We entered the cave and I heard Daedalus's pained voice.
"Nope. Not gonna happen." He must've been tortured to say yes, but he hasn't. I just hope he was faking with the pain. I still remember my first day with Chaos when Luke said we didn't feel pain. I put my finger to my lips and motioned for Annabeth to stay quiet. She nodded and we slowly crept down farther into the cave. We emerged into a wide room. In the center I saw Daedalus on his knees with a dark figure in front of him. Tartarus.
Daedalus was covered in cuts and bruises, blood leaking from them. His legs and arms were stained red. But the ground wasn't, which meant that the ground stained part of the prophecy had not yet happened.
Tartarus held a chain in his hands. It was also stained red, which meant that he had hit Daedalus with it.
Annabeth and I hid behind a boulder that had made its way into the cave. "Here's what's we'll do. I'll distract Tartarus while you get Daedalus out. I'll meet you outside when I find an opening. Have Daedalus create a portal, be ready to go through.
Before she could protest I jumped out from behind the boulder into Tartarus's line of sight. "Hey, Darth Maul!" He whipped his head around, as did Daedalus.
I heard him sigh and whisper "Damn you, you shouldn't have come." I laughed as Tartarus swung his chain and tried catch me with it.
I danced out of the way and beckoned Tartarus closer. "Do you wish to die today, little demigod?"
"What is it with you evil beings calling me 'little demigod?'" The chain whipped the air where I had been standing a second before. In the corner of my eye, I could see Annabeth and Daedalus making their escape. What I found weird though, was that there were no guards.
Tartarus opened his mouth and a shrill whistle came from it. Forget what I said about the guards. Footsteps shook the cavern as monsters and demigods appeared. "Run!" Daedalus and Annabeth obeyed and high tailed it outside. I focused back on Tartarus. Like the coward he was, he had let the monsters surround me. I smirked and uncapped Riptide.
They charged and I swung. I dodged, slashed, rolled, and soon the ground was littered with golden monster dust. "Anything else?"
Tartarus growled and I turned and ran. I got outside and saw Daedalus and Annabeth waiting by a portal. I motioned for Annabeth to go in, and since she wouldn't Daedalus picked her up and threw her in. Roars came from behind me. I stole a glance and saw dozens of monsters running after me. They were too close.
I reached Daedalus. His cuts had already healed. "Go!" He yelled. "If I go in before you, it will close. Go! I'll hold them off and then follow!"
I shook my head. There wouldn't be enough time, and he knew that. "Sorry about this." Before he could react I pushed him in and he fell through. As the portal closed, he looked at me with panic.
"No!" He tried to reach for me, but the portal closed. Save your companion, and be abandoned. I turned around and raised my sword just in time to keep a monster from whacking me on the head. It wouldn't have cut me in half, but it definitely would have hurt.
I continued to fight, killing monsters left and right. I kept killing until I was ankle deep in dust, but more monsters kept coming. I was starting to tire too, which was not good.
Tartarus appeared with dozens more monsters. I couldn't fight them all with this amount of energy left. I did the only thing I could. I dropped my sword. "I surrender."
Tartarus smiled. "Good choice." Two dracaenae came forward with shackles. They chained my hands and feet together and pushed me back towards the cave.
Away from the only light seen. I was alone now.
I grimaced. The dracaenae tossed me onto the ground in front of Tartarus. "Now, join me and you will not be harmed. If you do, together we--"
"Will rule the world, the gods will be beneath us, blah, blah, blah. Cliché much?" I laughed. "Really? Okay, my turn. Let's see, what's a good one? Oh yeah! How about this; I'll never join you!" I pumped my fist. "Is that good?"
Tartarus showed his support for my comment by kicking me in the stomach and face. Bribed and pained. "Why? You would get the chance to destroy your Camp. To get revenge on your friends for not remembering you. For Annabeth choosing the other you."
"News flash, dude. I got my revenge a while ago. I killed Pontus. That's all I needed. Now, how about a fight? I win, you let me go, you win, I stay. One on one." I looked around. Traitors from Camp Half-Blood glared at me. I stared back in disgust. Betraying your family, just like when Luke was possesed by Kronos.
Tartarus smiled. "I thought you'd never ask." One of the dracaenae tossed me my sword. They unlocked the chains and I held Riptide, ready to fight. I clicked my watch, and my shield sprang open.
I advanced toward Tartarus. "Ah, ah, ah. You aren't fighting me. I introduce to you, you." He backed away and from behind him, came a stranger.
A stranger to be fought. But be beaten easily, not. He wasn't really a stranger, but it felt like it. He wouldn't be beaten easily, he knew everything that I did. He only had one weakness, which he would guard well.
I would be fighting Perseus Jackson, a.k.a myself.
