My Pegasus Dies For The Second Time

My Pegasus Dies For The Second Time

After making my decision, I called a meeting with the counselors of each cabin. We had to create a master plan to get rid of Tartarus's army.

After checking to make sure my remaining team was okay, I jogged up to the Big House where everyone was waiting. "Okay, this thing needs to end. No more deaths. No more battles. Next time they come--which they will--they will bring everything they have. We need to fight back, hard. This war is going to end today."

Heads bobbed around the table. "How?" Clovis from the Hypnos cabin--for once--was awake.

"Fight. As soon as you are wounded, don't keep going and wait. Get treated right away and then go back. I know I shouldn't ask you guys to fight without pause, but we need to win this. Fight with everything you have. I'll get my team to use their powers as much as possible to help, but some of the laws do apply to us. Especially me. If I could, I would finish this battle with a snap of my fingers, but I can't. I need every single one of you to fight." I turned to Chiron. "You're fast. If you see a fallen camper or Hunter, get them to the infirmary as fast as you can. I need everyone doing something.

"Clovis, if your cabin can't stay awake to fight or help the injured, direct the campers who can't fight into the safe tunnels the Hephaestus children made. Or hide in the trees with the archers to help them spot monsters to kill. Anything you can do to help. I need everyone that can be on their feet helping with something. Got it?"

"Yes." The heads of each cabin chorused.

"Good. Dismissed." Yeah, I wasn't the camp leader, but they needed a leader, and they seemed to adopt me as theirs.

I left the Big House to train with the campers again, but instead found something else. Tartarus's army was back. Fake me was at the head of the horde. And it was as big as I had thought.

I groaned. "Did it have to be so soon?" I said to myself before pulling out Riptide, activating my shield, and sprinting towards the enemy.

My team joined me and we formed a V like we had when we first came to Camp. I locked eyes with each one of them. They all said the same thing. Let's win this.

"For Chaos!" I yelled and my team and the Camp took up the cry with me.

"FOR CHAOS!" Swords clashed, and the final battle began.

It seemed that everywhere I looked a monster or camper was falling. Arrows flew from both sides, blood spilled. Tartarus obviously thought this would be the last fight as well.

I fought with new strength. Two of my friends had died in this battle, and that was two too many. I was not leaving this field without victory.

I called for Blackjack and he was flying around faster than the speed of light. One second he would be trampling a monster, the next he was carrying a wounded demigod to the infirmary. The sun glinted off of his golden armor as he flew. Daedalus had temporarily granted the other Pegasi with the same speed so they could help like Blackjack was. The air was filled with spears, arrows and Pegasi.

We all fought as hard as we could, but I knew we were slowing down. I used my powers accidently many times and mostly managed to kill monsters with them, but they kept coming back. It was like a Hydra. When I killed one, two more took its place.

Speaking of Hydras, I ducked a spray of acid and swiped my sword, effectively cutting off every one of the heads. I shot a ball of fire at the stumps and the Hydra disintegrated.

I whirled around and jumped into the air. Blackjack swooped under me and flew high so I could observe the battlefield. I saw Thalia and Nico fighting back to back, Nico with his Stygian Iron sword and Thalia with her hunting knives. They saw me and smiled before turning their attention back to the fight.

I grimaced and looked around. Everyone else seemed to be doing fine. My team, as promised, was using their Primordial powers to slow down the enemy and give the campers a chance to run or kill.  We were doing well, but not well enough.

I looked back at Thalia and Nico to see them surrounded. "Styx!" I directed Blackjack to help them when something slammed into me from above. I tumbled from his back and crashed to the ground.

Blackjack circled down, you okay?

"I'm fine! Help Thalia and Nico!" I stood and brushed myself off, before looking up. Standing in front of me was me.

"Ugh, you again? Really?" I twirled my sword and slammed the hilt over fake me's head. He dropped like a stone. "I thought you were a good swordfighter."

I kicked him and sent him to the infirmary, where we had set up a small prison for demigod traitors. When the war was over we would try to talk some sense into them. Him, I was hoping he would disappear once everyone got their memories of me back.

I glanced over to see how Thalia and Nico were doing, but what I saw broke my heart. Thalia and Nico were surrounded by empousa, Kelli with her flaming hair at the front. She had somehow managed to hold the fire in her hands and was throwing it at them. They dodged as best as they could and Blackjack flew around them, blowing out the fireballs. One fireball slipped through though, and headed straight for them. They were oblivious, occupied with fighting the empousai. Blackjack saw this and moved to intercept it with his body.

Sorry, again. He looked at me before the fire engulfed his body. Blackjack was gone, for the second time.

"NO!" The monsters around me were thrown backwards as I unleashed my inner power. I raced over to Thalia and Nico and quickly killed the monsters around them.

I knelt down and saw the ashes of my Pegasus in a pile on the ground. Tears dripped from my eyes and the battle seemed to freeze. Every monster and demigod looked at me after my outburst. I could feel my emotions churning. Three deaths were enough. No more.

Anger, sadness, guilt, just about any emotion but the good ones mixed inside of me. The feelings I had suppressed for eighteen years churned in my stomach. My inner power mixed within me, and I knew that they would explode soon.

With a somewhat focused mind, I controlled them so that they would only kill the enemy, before I let it out with a humongous roar.

I glowed and power surged out of me, bigger than I had ever used. A sonic boom sounded and every monster on Tartarus's side disintegrated.

I was breathing heavily as I raised my head. The enemy was gone. Only one person was left. Tartarus.

I sheathed Riptide and pulled out Oblivion. Tartarus was going down.
