CH. 6 (Elle)

I woke up to the sun shinning into my room window.

At first i was angry at the bright light waking me up, Then i was stunned. This was the first time i had seen the sun since moving to Healy Alaska.

I smiled and got myself out of bed. I looked at the clock and saw i had two hours before i had to be at work. I got up, brushed my teeth, used the restroom, then ran a brush through my hair. I padded downstairs and was greeted by a smiling Cat and a plate full of fresh fruit and egg whites.

I ate and excitedly told her about work today. She was glad i was getting to work and even more elated that i had so many friends once more.

I didn't tell her about Emmett, it was too soon. If told her everything that had happened between us she would hate him by the end of my story, and if things ever did work between us and we became cordial she would always hold a grudge against him.

Dad on the other hand didn't really care about who i hung out with as long as the people were respectful and looked out for me.

I finished up breakfast and washed the dishes for Cat before I asked her for a favor. "Do you think you could drop me off at work?"

"I can, but I will also ask why before I commit to anything." She sounded.

"Well Alice, one of Kate's cousins, asked me to spend the night at her place so that we could go shopping tomorrow morning."

She gave me a look that silently asked, "why am I just now hearing about this?"

"I'll fill dad in as soon as I get to work, I promise."

She smiled and nodded her agreement and then I made my way upstairs to brush on some makeup.

"Don't forget your coat and hat Honey." Cat shouted from the car.

I rolled my eyes and continued toward the vehicle.

"Honey it's cold out, you're going to catch your death." She exaggerated, pulling her jacket tighter to her to emphasize the frigid air.

I smiled and pulled the items on to satisfy her.

Once we pulled up I noticed two cars. Dad's new Ford SUV and an older model Hummer.

I parked next to the Hummer and I got out, having to walk behind the vehicles, I noticed a bumper sticker. One that so brashly read: "Every guy Loves a Hummer" with a picture of two stick figures, the man was standing and the girl was on her knees.

I scoffed in disgust, great whoever owned this car was a douche-baggy jerkwad.

I shook my head and made my way inside.

I saw my dad and a guy's back behind the counter. At the sound of the bell ringing the guy turned around.

I had to keep from having my jaw hit the floor.

This guy was extremely hot.

He had a slightly tanned skin tone, light brown eyes, and his scruffy facial hair and messy brown hair made him look somewhat rugged. He gave me a sideways smirk but then went back to talking to dad.

Dad came from around the counter not long after his conversation finished with the guy.

"Hey there Kiddo...Cole this is my Daughter Elle. Elle this is Your new co-worker Cole." I walked behind the counter and shook his hand.

"Nice to meet you." I said shyly. Luckily I could feel no blush there.

"And to you as well." He said kindly.

Up close I noticed the guy was sort of tall as I had to look up at him.

"Well i already showed Cole here what to do, he can fill you in, and you guys can clock out at 12." Dad said.

"Oh Hey Dad, I'm gonna spend the weekend at a friends house, ok." I said.

"Alright Kiddo, just be sure to be on your best behavior and maybe they'll invite you back."Dad said chuckling and walking into his office.

"Your Dad seems cool." Cole said.

"Yeah, he's great. So what am i suppose to do?" I asked politely.

Cole then showed me where Dad kept everything, how to do the logs, and then told me we would be responsible for cleaning out the kennels and changing their padding. We would feed the dogs and make sure they had plenty of water. We are the ones that are going to be helping the tourist with them, take their pictures and help them with any questions.

Dad would be the one to train the dogs and run the classes for the dog sledding.

The job was easy, and unfortunately it was off season since we were getting closer to winter solstice.

Cole and i did a few tasks and then i felt my phone vibrate. I looked down to see i had a text, i quickly checked it and saw it was from Alice.

'Sorry but i can't pick you up, Dad grounded me from using my car. BUT Girls weekend is still ON'

I smiled and agreed, i told her I would just meet her at her place, she text me back with her address. I put my phone up and went to feed the dogs.

Once i was done Dad stuck his head out and told us we could go.

After that Cole and I went to the computer to log out as dad stood there and watched.

"Hey dad, do you think you could give me a ride to Alice's place?"

"Sorry kiddo, maybe you should ask Kitten to pick you up, I'm stuck here for a couple more hours."

"I could take you." Cole sounded.

I looked up at him, "I wouldn't want to impose."

He shook his head, "it's cool, really."

"Ok then." I agreed before I logged out.

Sure I just met this guy, but dad had all his info on the off game I turned up missing.

As we exited the building we both walked to his hummer. I got in and had a new favor to ask... "So I hate to ask, and you can totally say no, but do you think we can stop by my place first...i sort of need to pack an overnight bag."

He nodded and I told him how to get to the house. When he pulled into the driveway I realized I could just drive to Alice's in my own car.

"Um you can take off, I got my car over there" I said pointing to my Range Rover. "But thanks for the ride."

"No problem Ellie." I got out of his hummer and he rolled the window down so we could say bye.

"See you Monday." He said from the window.

I smiled at him, "You know, your bumper sticker is disgusting." I smiled.

He chuckled. "Actually i didn't put it there, my Ex did."

I was shocked and repulsed. "Desperate much?" I sounded without thinking.

"You have no idea." He said, his voice losing it's humor and his eyes hardening as he looked down.

"Oh i'm sorry i didn't mean to say that out loud."

He looked back up at me and smiled once more, his eyes soft and beaming again. "No worries. See ya' round Ellie."

He pulled away from the house as i was going in.

After I packed my bag I got into my car and I opened my text from Alice and read the address properly. I noticed it was on the highway llike mine. Then realization dawned on me. They were my neighbors, they lived in the Alaska Mansion.

I drove to the extravagant house with excitement.

Alice was standing outside on the paved driveway practically bouncing with excitement.

I got out of the car and she barreled forward and hugged me tight. I don't know how but her little arms hurt.

I noticed her face crinkle a bit in distaste. I mentally smacked myself for not taking a shower. I was around The dogs all day and they leave a faint scent on people. Plus Cole was a freaking chain smoker so i no doubt smell like cigarettes by default.

"Um, Ouch." I said smiling.

"Oopsies, sorry Elle." she said smiling shyly. It didn't last long. "Come on, i want you to meet my parents and then i'll show you around."

Inside we walked and the interior was just as immaculate as the outside. Edward was sitting at a piano playing a beautiful song i have never heard before. Bella was sitting on a lovely white sectional with a book open, although she wasn't doing much reading. Not that i blame her, the song was peaceful and melodic almost like a lullaby.

I saw Jasper and Ness through the tall glass french doors, they were chasing each other on the back lawn. There was also another young man, he was tall and muscular and very tan.

The music stopped and i saw Edward and Bella make their way over to me.

They both wore expressions of worry and curiosity, i didn't think too much into it since they soon were smiling and hugging me. Alice showed me into the kitchen and there stood a very cute lady with perfect brown hair and the warmest smile. She introduced herself and embraced me like her children had.

"Thank you for having me over Ma'am." I said politely.

"Thank you for being so nice to my children at school, you have made them feel very welcomed, it is our honor to have you." She said letting her warm smile spread across her face once more.

Just like with Emmett i couldn't help but to smile back.

Soon Alice ushered me away to go and find her father. We found him in his study, and much to my protest she walked us in without a second thought and introduced me. He was a very handsome and friendly man. He had a wise and trusting aura about him. He shook my hand and just like his wife he thanked me for being nice to his kids.

In all honesty it was I who should be thanking them for showing me the kindness. Well all except Emmett, but i honestly would rather see him scowling than to not see him at all. Thinking of Emmett, i don't recall seeing him. I bit my tongue and walked with Alice.

With every ones permission she showed me every ones rooms.

"This is mine and Jasper's room." She said.

I was shocked and i'm sure my face showed. "Your parents let you and your boyfriend share a room?"

Alice giggled a very musical little giggle. "Why not, in my family we really don't do the whole Sex before Marriage thing. So there is no problems and i mean honestly we'd still be in the same house so we'd eventually just sneak into the other's room anyways. But our parents trust us and we won't break their trust." She said.

I nodded in agreement, it made sense.

We walked up the stairs to the third floor. It was huge, there was a large sitting room up here and was littered with every single piece of electronics known to man, there were vintage comics decorating the walls in frames and on shelves. Every piece of furniture in here didn't match but some how worked to compliment the other and everything looked extremely comfortable. At the very back of the sitting room was a door.

"I hope you don't mind but you'll be staying in up here." Alice said with a slight smirk.

I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach that told me she was up to something but i didn't know what.

"Um, No that's fine." I said unsure.

She grabbed my hand and pulled me into the room, It was very masculinely done in hues of black, grey, and pristine whites. There was a huge California King sized bed. The room was modern and cool. It had an amazing view of the lake and if you looked hard enough you could kind of make out my house. This room smelled amazing too, is that possible?

"This room is beautiful." I said smiling widely. "Are you sure i can stay in here?" I said as i let my body fall onto the bed, still smiling.

"Sure, do you want reassurance to clear your mind?" She asked smiling.

"Yes please." I said joking.

All of a sudden i heard ringing. I looked up and saw Alice had her phone out and it was on speaker.

"Hello?" A deep velvety voice said.

My heart beat faster and my insides started to do flips, I knew that voice. He had only said one sentence to me but i knew the voice well.

"Hey Em, I was just wondering if it would be ok if Elle Slept in your room tonight, we're having a sleep over but you know she can't stay in any of our rooms." Alice said smiling widely.

"Yeah, that's fine." He said.

If it was possible my heart started beating faster and a huge smile broke out on my face. No matter how hard i tried to hide it.

"Thanks Em, Bye." She said.

"Hey Alice, C-can you, um, can you tell her I said Hi and i'm sorry for being a jerk." He said sounding very sad.

By this point i was sitting straight up and my face fell, i wanted to comfort him whereever he was. I wanted to hold him in my arms and rub his back and kiss him until he felt better. His words almost brought tears to my eyes, they held so much emotion.

"Yeah Em, i'll tell her." Alice said softly.

"See you soon Little Sis."

"See ya Em. Your doing the right thing and i'm really proud of you." She said and hung up.

"Emmett said to tell you H-"

I threw a pillow at her and rolled my eyes.

She caught it and laughed then sat down.

"So what's up Elle, i know i just met you but i feel like we're going to be great friends and i hope you feel the same,with that said... I want you to know that you can talk to me about anything." Alice said.

I like Alice, she was easy to talk to and maybe that's why i told her.

"Well i don't know if it's crazy obvious but I really like your brother Emmett. I know it's sort of delusional since I just met y'all, but it's hard to be away from him and yesterday it really hurt that he wouldn't even look at me. I hope i don't sound like a creeper or anything, i know i hardly know him and i've only spoken to him once but i feel, i don't know, its hard to explain. Its like he sort of pulls me toward him or something, like he's a big invisible magnet or something." I admitted openly. "You think i'm a weirdo now don't you." I said trying to chuckle at the awkwardness.

Alice shocked me when she didn't say anything but instead pulled me into a gentle hug.

After a few minutes she let me go and finally spoke.

"You are going to be good for Em, he just has a lot to figure out right now, give him time and please, please don't give up on him." Her voice wavered a little and her eyes became a bit glassy.

I hugged her. "I don't know if i can give up on him." I whispered my confession. It made me scared to say the words out loud but somehow I knew they were true.

I put my things in the room and took off my shoes before Alice and I made our way to her bedroom.

The room was just as big as Emmett's, Alice's room was mostly creams, with litle bits of pink and sparkle, her room was light and airy. But it was her Closet that was the highlight.

"I swear i would marry your closet if i could." I said as i tried on my 5th pair of shoes. She had designers brands lining her shelves that some girls would kill just to look at.

"Ah, it's so refreshing to have some one who understands fashion. I was glad when my dad said we were moving to Alaska i knew i would be closer to Kate and she's the only one that cares about clothes in our family as much as me. And now I have you as well. This friendship is going to work wonderfully." Alice smiled at me from the mirror as she tried on a very beautiful blue cocktail dress.

We watched movies, did mani/pedi's, danced around to some random music and then Jasper came in saying he was tired.

Alice kissed my cheek and Jasper gave me a polite head nod, I went upstairs and into Emmett's room. I changed into my pajamas and and then got into bed. The bed was huge and it felt weird to sleep on one of the sides so i slept in the center.

"Up and at em'" Alice's voice rang into the room.

She was accompanied with Ness, who looked sleepy still and slightly irritated. She mindlessly wondered over to the bed and got in. I smiled at her and followed her example. I got more comfy once again and closed my eyes.

"Oh come on you lazy bums, get up!" Ness stuck out her tongue and i waved her off.

"Fine i'll go eat breakfast then come back for you guys when i'm finished." She said walking away.

Some time later a beautiful voice brought me gently from my dreams of Emmett.

"Wake up my Darlings." Esme said smiling.

Ness and I sat up in the bed, rubbing our eyes and smoothing our hair down.

"Good morning Elle" Ness said extra chipper, wrapping her warm little arms around me.

I hugged her back and stifled a yawn.

"Alice is impatiently waiting downstairs, so please get ready, we will be leaving in 10 minutes." Esme said walking out of the room. Ness following.

I got up and performed my morning rituals and then got quickly dressed. I grabbed my jacket and headed downstairs.

"Ugh it's about time." Alice whined. "It's already 9, lets get going."

Jesus, 9...what time had she woken us up originally? I wondered. Edward looked at me and smiled afterward he kissed Ness on the forehead and then we left.

Soon we were shopping, Alice and Esme wouldn't let me buy a thing, they insisted on paying for everything. I felt a little uneasy so i tried to get as little and as cheap as possible.

But Alice wasn't having it.

By the time we got back into Healy i was exhausted and starving.

The girls helped me get my bags into my vehicle and I went back in to say my goodbyes.

"Thank you Mrs. Cullen for letting Alice have me over." I said "I had a spectacular time, and also please tell your Son Emmett thank you for letting me use his room."

"Please sweetheart, call me Esme," she smiled brightly. "It was no problem at all we really enjoyed having you over, and i'm sure Emmett will be glad to hear from you."

I had a great weekend. I made some amazing friends and learned that a certain gorgeous Brown haired boy didn't hate me.

I laid in bed that night and thought about Emmett Cullen. I thought of him often.

But now i was thinking of him with a smile on my face, i was looking forward to going to school tomorrow to see him.
