CH. 4 (Elle)

To say my day was crazy is an understatement. First I literally run into Jasper and am introduced to himself and his gorgeous brother Emmett.

I instantly am attracted to Emmett (to say the least).

But when Gym class start and I steal a glance at him i see him glaring at me.

So I rush out of gym and book it to French class, thankfully Kate was there. Apparently her boyfriend was going on a trip this morning and she wanted to tell him bye.

I immediately tell her about this guy i that i like only i conveniently leave out his name, only i'm sure she guessed who it was by how bad i blushed when i saw Emmett stroll into our French class.

"Hey there's my cousin. Have you met any of them yet?" Shes asks.

"Yeah, i met two of them already. They seem nice but i think i might have upset one of them." I admit, trying hard not to look up at Emmett. She gives me a questioning look and then she waves at a good looking boy with bronze hair.

"That's my cousin Edward. His Brother is Emmett the big guy with brown hair and a cocky smile." Kate said. I looked up and smile in his direction, i couldn't help myself. Whenever i see him he just makes me instantly happier, i just want to smile when he looks at me.

Much to my pleasure he smiles back at me.

His smile is both breath taking and heart stopping. A smile shouldn't make you want to rip someones clothes off should it? I wanted to kiss his dimples and his full lips. I wanted to kiss every part of his body and really make him smile.

Oh the things I would do to Emmett Cullen to make him smile.

For the first time ever I silently thanked Jimmy Hurst for taking my virginity (ok so it was mutually given back in sophomore year).

I snapped out of my thoughts when i saw his brother and him starting up a conversation.

The teacher walked in some time later and then class began.

Somewhere in the middle of class i looked up and saw Emmett looking at me, but when he noticed i saw him he quickly tried to avert his eyes and pretend he wasn't looking. I didn't know if i should laugh or be concerned. I shrugged it off and then class was over. Kate walked with me to my classroom.

"What's going on with you today Elle, it's like your here but your not really here." She said.

I sighed, she was right, physically i was there and if she asked me something i would answer but mentally i was elsewhere, thinking about Emmett Cullen.

"C'mon Elle, you're my Best Friend. You know you can tell me anything right?" She said.

I smiled a small smile at her and hugged her.

"Ok, If i tell you something you can't tell anyone and i mean no one not even Garrett ok." I said.

"I Promise."

I took in a deep breath closed my eyes and let my words fall out of my mouth. "I think, no...i know i like your cousin Emmett. But i'm really scared that he doesn't like me and i'm afraid of falling too hard for a guy who can't reciprocate those same feeling." I got out with my eyes still squeezed shut.

"Eeeeek" Kate squealed pulling me into a hug and jumping up and down. "Oh my gosh if you and Emmett get married we'd be cousins." She announced with excitement.

"Whoa, slow down a minute Missy. I have to find out if he likes me and then possibly date the guy. You're talking about love and marriage and family." I said a little exasperated.

Kate's smile faltered a bit but she recovered quickly.

"Well have you talked to him?" She asked.

"Yes, we even shook hands, and to be honest it was amazing. Like a handshake shouldn't feel amazing, his voice shouldn't do things to me and his smile shouldn't melt my heart." I admitted with a full blown blush.

Kate stood there trying very hard not to squeal again. Excitement beamed out of her.

The tardy bell rang and Kate and i hugged bye as we parted our ways.

I was in English and i saw Jasper, He gave me a small smile and I walked over and sat in the empty desk next to his.

He stiffened a bit but soon his body seemed to slowly relax "Howdy Elle, Having a good day so far Darlin'?" He asked.

His Texas drawl made me home sick but it also made me smile.

"I've had better days." I admitted.

His brow furrowed slightly and he looked at me, then asked "What's wrong?"

I don't know what it is about Jasper Hale but i liked him and he was easy to talk to. Maybe it was the way he said "Darlin' "...my Grand Daddy used to call me Darlin' too.

"I don't know, i'm having all sorts of feeling running through me today and they're confusing the heck out of me. I just wish i could clear my head for a second and just figure things out." I gushed.

"Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Think of something that makes you happy and then you'll be feel a bit better." He said.

I did as he instructed. I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths, i thought of the first thing that makes me happy, It wasn't My Parents, My old best friends, Kate, My new car, the stunning view from my balcony, It was Emmett giving me his big dimpled smile. I felt my own smile tug across my face as i felt that same feeling of Love, admiration, and want auras through me, then they were gone and all too soon i was filled with calmness.

I opened my eyes to see a smiling Jasper. He was right. The calm was washing over me.

"Sometimes you just gotta stop and take a breather Darlin'."

I gave him a smirk. "Thanks Jasper."

"Anytime."

Class went by quickly, unfortunately we got a ton of homework.

"I have Study Hall next so i'll see ya around." I said putting my things into my backpack.

"Well so do I, so i guess you aren't getting rid of me that easily." Jasper joked.

Kate met us outside With Emmett a few paces Behind her. I looked at him but he looked away. I was hurt and instantly saddened by his reaction. I notice Jasper tense up and he gave Emmett a very dirty look while shaking his head from left to right.

Kate looped her arm with mine and we led the way to the library. We all sat at a Table and i didn't want to risk getting another scowl from Emmett so i pulled out some of my English homework and decided to do that for this hour.

Kate and Jasper both attempted to make polite conversations with me but i couldn't be tempted.

Once the tension with Emmett got so thick i had to get up and go look for some random book, any book just to get away from the table, just so they wouldn't see how his silence effected me. How his cold glares made me want to burst into tears.

'How can a boy i just met this morning make me feel so worthless and brokenhearted?' Just then a hand flew by my face up towards some books on the shelf.

"I'm sorry, i tried to get your attention but you didn't hear me." He said with a sad smirk. "Hey are you alright?" He asked. It was the Bronze haired brother. Edward i think his name was, the other Cullen in French class.

'Great now i'm the charity case' I thought, this was due to everyone asking me what was wrong today. I knew exactly what was wrong. I had started crushing on a gorgeous bi-polar guy who one minute is giving me a heart stopping smile and then the next is shooting cold heart breaking glares at me. But i couldn't tell this guy that.

I watched his face as it looked like he winced a bit.

"I'll be fine." I lied. "Just needed to get a book." I said grabbing the nearest book. It just so happened to be poems from Edgar Allen Poe

He gave me a sympathetic smile as his teacher called for their class to get back with their groups.

"See you around Elle." He said and walked off.

I took my book and went back to the table. Kate and Jasper looked upset and i didn't even bother looking at Emmett.

I put my book down and took my seat.

Lucky for me we were suppose to write a 4 page essay on one of Literatures famous Writers. I pulled out some paper and a pen and began writing.

The bell signaling the end of 4th period rang and we gathered our things.

"Elle Darlin' i can't wait for you to meet my girlfriend Alice, she's gonna love you." Jasper said.

I gave him a sincere smile.

We all made our way to the cafeteria, yes even the deadly silent Emmett.

Kate and I jumped in line and got our food then sat at our usual table. One by one our table began to fill up, First with Jasper and a cute little teen girl with this excellent pixie cut.

"Elle this is my girlfriend Alice." Jasper said smiling with pride.

Alice walked up to me and hugged me super tight. She did almost the same jump thing Kate did earlier when i told her i liked Emmett.

"I'm so happy to meet you, Kate's told us so much about you and i just know we're going to be great friends and everyone in my family's going to love you if they don't already."

I hadn't noticed That Three more people sat down when i answered her.

"Well i don't know about that. I think i might have done something to really upset your brother Emmett. I don't think he likes me too much." I confessed.

A few stifled chuckles made me turn and then i realized their was more people at the table. Luckily none of them was Emmett, that would have been beyond embarrassing.

"Hello again, i'm Edward and this is my girlfriend Bella and her sister Renesme." The bronze haired guy said.

"Call me Ness or Nessie." Renesme said.

"I'm Elleen, but everyone calls me Elle, it's a pleasure to meet all of you." I said honestly.

We were all talking and I was already loving Alice because she had brought up a shopping trip.I was sitting in between Kate and Bella.

I was taking a bite out of some celery when Bella spoke to me. For the first time i really looked at her. Just like Kate, Alice, and Tanya, Bella was stunningly pretty. She had the same golden eyes which i'm now guessing is a family trade mark. She has thick Chestnut brown hair that fell just past her shoulders.

"Hey don't worry about Em, He's been through a lot but he'll come around eventually. He's actually a really nice guy."

"Really?" I asked her.

"Yeah," She tried to assure me.

Just then Emmett walked over and sat at our table. He didn't bother to get any food or make any conversation. He just sat their with his arms across over his chest looking at everybody.

Kate and Alice looked just as angry as him. Bella and Edward looked a little sympathetic, and Jasper had tensed up once again.

My appetite had disappeared but something on my tray had become increasingly interesting as i keep my eyes glued to my food. I couldn't look at him. If i did i would lose it in front of his entire family.

"Come on Elle." Alice said getting up and pulling me with her.

I notice Emmett sending his glare toward Alice now. Perhaps he just did not like the fact that I am friends with Kate...maybe he doesn't like outsiders getting to close to his family.

I followed her silently all the way to the lockers. She fiddled with hers. I grabbed my purse and checked my cell. then started making my way out to the school parking lot.

"Where are you going?" Alice's voice rang out from behind me suddenly. I turned around and smiled at her.

"Home, i'm a senior and i only have 4 classes. I honestly can leave after 4th period if i want but i choose to stay and have lunch with Kate since we don't have any classes except French and Study Hall together." I told her.

I gave her my cellphone number and told her she could come over whenever she wanted and then i left.

On the drive home i couldn't clear my head, all i could think about was Emmett,

There was only one thing that could take my mind off of Emmett, I pulled left and went into town instead of staying on the highway to go to my house.

I saw my Dad's building and pulled up.

I could feel the excitement of the dogs.

I walked behind the counter and into my Dad's office.

"Hey Kiddo, how was school?" He asked happy.

"School was school, how was your day?" I asked, not wanting to get into everything Emmett related.

"Today was very event filled. I hired a new guy and two of the dogs had their puppies. You can go in and look at them if you'd like."

"Thanks Dad, hey are you still looking for another worker?" I asked.

"Yeah, but not full time." He said sounding concerned.

"How about i work here, after school. I get off of school early enough to work and then go home and have dinner with you and Cat and do my homework." I said. "Plus i would be making my own money so i wouldn't have to constantly come to you if i wanted to go out and buy something."

I think that last bit was the selling point for him.

"Sure thing Kiddo. Well Cole is your co-worker and i can show both you and him the ropes tomorrow." He said smiling at me. "I'm proud of you kiddo, now how about we check on the puppies?"

I walked to the back of the building where the kennels were.

Instantly i heard the little cries of newborn puppies. I knew it would be a few weeks before i could pick one and bring it home, they were still too small and needed their momma's.

All i could do was look at the puppies, if i touched one the Mom would reject it and it would either die of starvation or worse, the Mom could eat it.

I never understood how animal's work, but i tried not to think about it.

Once i was finished staring at the cute little puppies Dad gave me a couple of grey polo style shirts with the company name on them and then i left.

I pulled out my cell and it just so happened to begin ringing as well.

"Hello?" I asked unsure.

"Hey Elle this is Alice Cullen. I just wanted to see if you could possibly come shopping with me tomorrow? Bella doesn't really care to shop and Kate and Tanya are going as well as My Mom Esme."

I sighed, i had just took on a job. I knew i had to be at work tomorrow for training but i knew Dad had the place closed on Sunday.

"Well i have to go into work for training tomorrow so maybe when i get out. or Sunday since i don't work Sundays." I said unsure.

I knew My parents wouldn't have a problem letting me go, they never really cared what i did as long as i gave them a heads up.

"Well how about i pick you up from work tomorrow and then you can spend the night at my place and then we can head out Sunday morning to one of the bigger cities for shopping and then i'll drop you off at home after?" She suggested.

I nodded my head. "Yeah, sounds like a plan." I said and hung up.

I got into my car and headed home. Thing were starting to look up, now if only things with Emmett would work themselves out.

I ran up to my room and laid on my bed, i threw my arm across my eyes and tried to clear my head like Jasper had taught me earlier, it seemed to help a bit but not as much as earlier.

I couldn't stop thinking about Emmett now that i was alone and had nothing to occupy my mind.

I was crushing hard over a guy i just met.

I am physically attracted to gorgeous mess of a man.

I am in love with someone who i know nothing about.

To say my day was crazy is an understatement.

And Sadly, even after all of the glares and the cold shoulder i still wanted him to like me, i had this pull inside of me telling me that we are suppose to be together.

I have never felt this kind of connection with any other guy, sure i cared about the others before, but now i'm glad i never said those three words i held so sacred.

But here i am, head over heels over that dimpled smiling, curly headed, muscular jerk...

Emmett Cullen.
