CH. 39 (Emmett)

All of us knew better than to argue with Siobhan when she wanted something. And the others knew they just had to go along.

It was settled that in a few days time both Elezar and Tanya will leave to Volterra along with their soulmates.

They will take control, and anyone who is against them has the full support of all of us, plus the Lycans, and even some shifters.

Bella and Edward decided they would go and get the kids for us.

Jacob tagged along.

"If he was smart, that mutt would just stay in La Push." I growled.

Red grabbed my hand so I wouldn't start anything.

Our allies and friends decided to stay the rest of the week and then they would follow Elezar and Tanya to Volterra.

"Let's go to our house." My wife purred into my neck.

I perked up.

Jasper sensing my emotions grabbed Alice and picked her up bridal style then ran out the back door.

Maks kindly offered to keep an eye on our resting daughter, then I threw Red over my shoulder caveman style and hauled ass to our own place where we could properly release some stress.

It was already close to sunset when we finally walked back into the main house.

Red was anxious to have our sons come back in the next hour.

Katrina had woken, and was now nestled gently on Maks' lap.

Even though she was still a bit shaken she was smiling and attempting to play with him.

Soon enough the rest of our family came back and my sons hugged their mother eagerly.

"Daddy, there were so many people like Jacob, and Emily made us so much yummy food." Kellan said.

"Yeah Daddy, we got to go to the beach too, we played in the water and Quil and Embry built us a fire." Killian finished.

"I'm glad you had fun, maybe we can all go back someday." I said, knowing I couldn't make them any promises.

Maks and his twin Alphonse took the children outside to play, Katrina was even anxious to play.

We used our "adult" time to bring up the much heated topic of what to do with Jacob.

"Now we have all grown to love Jacob and accept him as part of this family." Carlisle spoke calmly.

"But some of his actions have caused some of the family members much duress. Jacob, we understand that you are young and impulsive. But living the life that we do, we don't really have much flexibility for impulse." Carlisle said softly.

Jacob just nodded.

"Why are you attacking him, He's just a kid." Bella spoke up, trying to defend her best friend.

"And we understand that dear, we really do." Esme tried to comfort Bella.

"So then what's the problem?" She asked.

"Bella love, it's just that, with impulse, it means you don't think things through. And that can be very very bad." Edward tried to spell it out for her.

"Yes. Like yesterday." Carlisle said going to make his final point. "Jacob only knew he wanted to come and fight the Volturi, so he acted without thinking and asked Katrina to bring him here."

I had, had enough listening so I finished Carlisle's point for him.

"Yeah, so his sudden impulse put my daughter in danger, she had a centuries old vampire charge for her but luckily one of the Lycans stepped in and killed Caius, even luckier is that the lycan held his control. Imagine that he lost his control, she'd be dead. Then He didn't think how the pack would treat venomous half vampire children on their lands. What if some of the Volturi decided to pay forks a visit and caught scent of the kids, you left my kids plus your imprint to the care of your old pack who you haven't seen or talked to all year. As a shifter who's imprinted, who would you protect first, your imprint or your enemies child?" I shouted, I knew my words would hurt but I had to get the point across and sometimes the truth hurts.

"Imagine if all of us went to go and fetch the children, we would have caused more innocent young men and women to suddenly shift because of his own negligence in not thinking things through." I finished.

Jacob was trembling with fury and Nessie was trying to calm him down.

"So what, what do we do now?" Bella asked, clearly upset that we had 'attacked' her friend. "Are we just going to send him away?"

"No, we will not rip this family apart." Carlisle said sternly.

"Jacob is family, we would never put him out." Esme put in.

"He just has to learn to think things through. He needs to realize that, yes, he is a teenager but he also has some very BIG responsibilities. Keeping this secret of our family is one of them, protecting innocents is another. When he acts on impulse he threatens both of those things." Carlisle said.

"I will help him on self control." Jasper volunteered.

"And I will listen in for anything outrageously impulsive." Edward said.

"I don't want you in my head!" Jacob shouted.

"It's for the best Jake." Bella sighed. "At least for now."

"How about we put you on a trial period." Carlisle suggested. "3 months without anything crazy and then Edward will stop spying on you constantly."

Jacob thought about and finally gave in after much persuasion from Nessie.

"Em, Elle, I'm sorry I put Katrina in danger. It was stupid of me to come back, I should have just stuck to the plan. I know that now, I never meant to put any of your kids in danger, it's just that I think of the Volturi and all they've done and I just wanted to help get rid of them." Jacob confessed.

We accepted his apology.

In truth I was still pretty pissed. I would forgive, but with my vampire memory, I literally would never forget.

A week went bye and we said our farewells to our allies and friends, then an even more emotional goodbye to our nearest and dearest friends who had grown into family.

"I'm going to miss you Ellie" Cole said as he squeezed me tightly.

I held onto him, choked up on unsheadable tears.

"What am I going to do without one of my best friends?" I asked seriously.

He chuckled softly. "You'll survive. You have your husband my beautiful niece and nephews, and a whole family that loves you." He said.

"Plus," Tanya said grabbing my hand. "You can always come and visit, no invitation required." She finished pulling me into a hug.

Tanya and I had grown even closer.

"You brought my mate to me, and for that you will always be important to me Elle. We would love you to always be a part of our life as we hope you wish the same for us." She finished and handed me back to Emmett.

I gladly went into his welcoming arms.

"I would love nothing more." I said with a smile, assuring them both.

We waved one final goodbye and they left just as the sun began to set.

The children ran around the yard, carelessly unaware of what was going on.

Edward and Bella had decided to go hunting with Kate and Garrett and the rest of the family went back inside.

But me, I stood in the same spot for a while. Just looking out into the woods our friends had disappeared into.

I was happy but curious, I couldn't help but think the same thing over and over on my head.

History in our world was about to be changed.
