CH. 38 (Elle)

Emmett came and grabbed my hand.

Carlisle clutched our small daughter to his chest and ran toward the house.

The sound of our parties fast footfalls sounded like rolling thunder.

We all reached the house.

Everyone tried to crowd Into the room, and had I not have been with Emmett I wouldn't have gotten through.

He barreled through the group of vampires.

Esme and Edward were by Carlisle's side and Emmett and I filled the rest of the room.

Jasper, probably sensing my worry and frustration gave the order for everyone else to go either down stairs or back to the field to clean up the mess of vampire limbs thrown everywhere.

Carlisle examined Katrina quickly before speaking.

"Thankfully she's just in shock."

Their was a collective sigh.

"She will be fine, worst case scenario she might be scarred emotionally but nothing that will hinder her. She needs some sugar in her system to bring her adrenaline down and pull her out of this frozen state as well as some sleep to help her mind rest." Carlisle instructed. "The latter may be a bit of a struggle so I will say don't be surprised if she has a sudden on slot of nightmares...it could've been so much worse, she could have literally been scared to death, or worse, either Caius or one of the Lycans could've killed her as well as Jacob."

Edward went downstairs to get some chocolate Esme usually kept in the house for the kids.

Emmett squeezed my hand, our way of silently asking if the other was alright.

I looked up at him and gave him a sad smile.

I was fine, just sad that our daughter had to experience this.

He gave me a hardened kiss that I could only make out as him being upset.

I sighed again.

I knew he wasn't upset with me, he would be angry with Jacob. And truthfully I myself was upset with Jacob, but not to the extent Emmett is.

I know my husband, and I know he will want revenge.

Carlisle must have been watching us because he cleared his throat then spoke.

"Son, I know how you and Elle must be feeling, but lets remember that Katrina is in good health, she wasn't hurt, and my guess is she will be back to her normal self in a few days." Carlisle said speaking gently.

Emmett clenched his fists, his knuckles cracking as his bones and tendons stretched and flexed.

"Jacob needs to be dealt with. He has gotten away with too much since he's joined this family." Emmett said low and bitterly.

Esme and I remained quiet, Carlisle rubbed the back of his neck while he tried to think.

"We will not do anything that involves violence. I do not like it, especially when used against family. We need to discuss this with our entire family present. We will continue this conversation once Renesme and the boys return from forks." Carlisle amended.

"And how are they going to do that? Katrina's here since a certain mutt asked her to come back. We'll have to go and get the kids, and we all know what that means. More shifters will begin to turn just because of our sheer presence." Emmett bit out. "You see, Jacob's actions hurt not just us, but his old pack as well. He needs to learn to think before he acts."

At that Emmett left the room.

"I'm sorry." I said to Carlisle and Esme and then walked after my husband.

The sun was coming up now, and almost everyone was lounging about the living room.

Emmett sat on the sofa and pulled me on top of his lap.

It was comforting knowing that our daughter would be fine and that our main threat was now out of our lives. I snuggled against Emmett's chest and pulled Katrina onto my lap as I tried to coax her into eating the sweet her uncle had given her.

Carlisle an Esme joined everyone downstairs and then the mood turned more serious.

"We need to speak on the future." Senna of the Amazon Coven said.

"Aye" Maggie agreed.

It was Elezar who spoke next. "We have given this much thought, and as much as we wish we could have an existence without a hierarchy we can not. There are too many of our kind who need to be corrected and put back onto the right path."

"So then nominate a couple of new leaders." Garrett added.

"I suppose that's all we can do." Carlisle said nodding.

Just then Cole and his siblings came in.

They were greeted with smiles and hugs and very loud congratulations.

I hugged Cole as well as Emmett.

"I'm proud of you Cole." I whispered into his cheek.

"We all are brother." Emmett said proudly.

We decided to keep the whole Jacob/Katrina mishap from them for now, but filled them in on everything else.

"May I say something?" Maks asked.

"Of course Maks" Carlisle said.

"Whoever is elected new Volturi, I'd like to come." Maks confessed.

Silence fell and he continued.

"I just think, that more Vampires will give our newly elected leaders a little more respect with a Lycan or two in their corner. Plus maybe we can put our fathers life long mission into motion. Peace between all kinds." Maks said.

I nodded my head, I agreed that It would be an amazing plan, and it would be easier for whoever was the new leaders.

"That's all fine, and I'm sure no one opposes, but who will be the new leaders?" Jasper asked.

"I'd like to see Elezar and Tanya as leaders" Siobhan announced.

Tanya and Carmen gasped.

We all knew of Siobahn's gift (even if she didn't believe she had a gift.), and we knew when she wanted something she had a way of making it happen.
